    Pray for Maine: Redeeming a Flag, Uniting Churches, and Calling Believers to Prayer & Action

They recount powerful prayer gatherings: 150–200 people worshiping and praying in the Hall of Flags during the Governor’s State of the State address, nearly 500 on the National Day of Prayer in the rain and mud, and more than 1,100 packing the Collins Center for the Arts on a sunny Sunday night with Eric Metaxas.     I’m excited to officially welcome Joel Furrow as Deputy Director of the Christian Civic League of Maine.Joel joins us after 14 years with The Root Cellar in Lewiston and Portland, including six years as Executive Director, where he worked alongside churches to serve communities, develop leaders, and bring the hope of the Gospel into some of Maine’s hardest places.While work under the dome in Augusta has been integral to the League’s mission for more than a century, we know that civic engagement doesn’t begin and end in Augusta.It happens wherever the Church encounters its neighbors: in our communities, schools, families, ministries, and public institutions.Joel will help us strengthen those connections, equip churches, and build pathways for Christians to faithfully engage in the civic arena wherever God has given them influence.We believe God is at work in Maine.
