The Mamilennials Podcast

As a Latina millennial, I was looking for a podcast for moms that I could genuinely relate to, one that explores how our culture influences our perspectives and experiences as mothers. I think this podcast does a great job of creating that space. Bonus points for being a podcast for professional and first-gen moms! I appreciate the conversations between two friends who openly share their experiences with us, the listeners. It feels authentic and relatable. That said, I wish the podcast took the conversation one step further. I would love to hear more about the challenges they discuss and what solutions or approaches they found helpful, whether those solutions come directly from their own experiences or from other perspectives. I understand that the hosts aren’t providing professional advice, but I think offering more insight into why they approached certain situations the way they did could be really valuable. Hearing their thought processes could help new moms navigate similar situations, even if they ultimately choose a different path. I also think there is a missed opportunity to explore how their cultural backgrounds influence their parenting styles. What cultural norms have they chosen to maintain? Which ones have they rejected or adapted, and why? I think that’s a very real part of the experience for many mamis raising their children in the U.S., and exploring it could make the conversations even more meaningful and relatable. It’s only Season 1, so I’m excited to see where Season 2 takes us! I hope the podcast continues to build on these conversations and gives listeners even more insight, guidance, and cultural perspective.
