    Faith on the Frontlines: War, Famine & the Courage to Bear Witness

In Part Three of our special Age Out Loud series, Warm Beach resident, veteran journalist, and eyewitness to history John Schenk takes us inside some of the most devastating humanitarian crises of his career with World Vision. John shares firsthand stories from famine- and war-stricken Ethiopia, Somalia, and Sudan, and recounts his experience in Rwanda during the genocide in 1994...where he captured video footage in a church revealing the horror unfolding on the ground. After his footage reached the world, the United Nations called an emergency session to confront what was happening in Rwanda. John reflects on what it meant to witness such unimaginable suffering, the responsibility of documenting it, and the role his faith played while working in places most people would never dare to go.
