Girls, Famesick and the arc of Lena Denham

TRANSCRIPT HERE I've been in a Lena Dunham deep dive after reading Famesick and watching Girls, like most elder millennial white women! Today is a lot of discussion about how her rise to fame and work impacted girls of a certain age, how revisiting challenged all the assumptions made about her, and how her experience of chronic illness documented in Famesick is super ultra important.  Did you read Famesick? What were your thoughts! --- Created by Stephanie Fornasier Music by Stephen Jackson Follow me at @PsychocinematicPodcast on Insta, @Psychocinematic on Tiktok and Youtube!

Psychology Training Reform Part 2: Could the changes do more harm than good?

Here's part 2! Follow along as I highlight some of the concerns of the new proposed model, how it may actually contribute to the mental health crisis, result in less diversity of psychologists not more, and how all of this could be avoided if they just raised the dang Medicare Rebate.  CONTENT WARNING: I speak briefly about suicide at about the 32.5 minute mark. TRANSCRIPT HERE See two Youtube videos which explain it better than me:  Australia’s Psychology Training Overhaul: A Dangerous Gamble? (SocialNeuro)  Three countries, all deskilling psychology standards. Coincidence? Psychology Training Reform Part 1: An Overview of the Proposed Changes

Today I explain (somewhat confusingly, sorry) the current pathways in order to become a psychologist in Australia today, and what changes the Psychology Board is proposing to that pathway. If you have any exposure or link to the psychology workforce, then this is a very important listen! And the board wants YOUR FEEDBACK on what you think about these proposed changes! See below for how to give it! TRANSCRIPT HERE Read about the proposed pathway changes here See The Consultation Paper  and The Consultation guide Consultation closes on the 10th of June! Diagnostic Diaries: Learning about Gesssschalting

The fourth episode of Diagnostic Diaries is all about Gestalt Language Processing, what it means to me, and how I've discovered its applicability to myself, my family and close friends.  It's maybe not the greatest description of what GLP actually is in terms of language development, so please refer to this information for better details! https://www.kelly-mahler.com/what-is-interoception/interoception-and-gestalt-language-processing/    TRANSCRIPT HERE   ---------- Created by Stephanie Fornasier Music by Stephen Jackson Follow me at @PsychocinematicPodcast on Insta, @Psychocinematic on Tiktok and Youtube!

We have a whiteness problem in the ND allied health community

TRANSCRIPT HERE   This episode is an open letter to the white neurodivergent community, especially those who are advocates, mental health and allied health professionals, and particularly psychologists.  It describes the problem we have around whiteness, and anti black/blakness, and how we must, MUST, do better.  I myself am a white neurodivergent psychologist, and am not the voice that needs to be centered in this conversation, but am hoping to use my platform as an ally. To actually do better and listen to the voices that matter, see links below!   DONATE TO (But also seek out Mutual Aid where you can) https://djirra.org.au/ (Djirra) https://fpdn.org.au/ (First Peoples Disability Network) https://www.thejilyainstitute.com.au/ (Westerman Jilya Institute) https://www.vals.org.au/ (Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service) https://paytherent.net.au/ (Pay The Rent) https://indigenouspsychology.com.au/ Australian Indigenous Psychologists Association (and many more)    FOLLOW: @king_khadija_gbla @asiatu.coach  @mahalia.mabo @blakbookishbrunette__ @kaishawna_music for mutual aid, follow @geddit.here (and many more!)   --- Created by Stephanie Fornasier Music by Stephen Jackson Follow me at @PsychocinematicPodcast on Insta, @Psychocinematic on Tiktok and Youtube!

Diagnostic Diaries: Learning About The Mask

It's our third Diagnostic Diaries episode, and at this point I'm deep in the ADHD & Autism assessment process and learning some major things about masking, how often I wear a mask, and how hard it is to take it off. Featured also is the Yellow Ladybugs conference, where I learnt just how hard it is to unmask even in the most affirming and accepting contexts.  TRANSCRIPT HERE Yellow Ladybugs Conference is coming up this year!
