The Book of Enoch Investigation — Part 6: The Angels Who Never Fell & The Mystery of Mastema

For five episodes, we’ve investigated the angels who rebelled. The Watchers. Azazel. Shemihazah. The Nephilim. Forbidden knowledge. Judgment. But what about the angels who didn’t fall? In Part 6 of the Mama Rae Podcast’s ongoing investigation into the Book of Enoch and the ancient texts surrounding it, Rachel turns the investigation toward the heavenly beings who remained loyal to God—and discovers that the ancient supernatural hierarchy may be far more complicated than many of us were taught. We investigate Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel—four extraordinary heavenly beings who appear across biblical writings, 1 Enoch and other ancient Jewish and Christian traditions. Who were they? What responsibilities were they given? Why were certain humans chosen to encounter heavenly beings? Why do people throughout biblical accounts so often respond to those encounters with overwhelming fear? And could an angel interact with a human being without that person even realizing what they had encountered? Then the investigation takes an unexpected turn. We meet a mysterious figure from the Book of Jubilees: Prince Mastema. After the Flood, Jubilees describes evil spirits troubling Noah’s descendants. God orders the spirits restrained—but Mastema petitions for a portion of them to remain under his authority. According to the text, nine-tenths are restrained while one-tenth are permitted to remain. That discovery opens an entirely new investigation. Who—or what—is Mastema? Why is he permitted to command these spirits? Why does he appear to operate within limits established by God? And could Mastema be connected to the supernatural adversary later generations would identify as Satan? We compare Mastema with the “satan” appearing in Job and examine other ancient adversarial figures including Belial and Azazel. But there is an important distinction. The spirits placed under Mastema’s authority are not necessarily the imprisoned Watchers themselves. According to the supernatural framework found in 1 Enoch, the dead giants leave behind spirits that remain upon the earth. And that raises perhaps the biggest question of this investigation yet: What did these ancient writers believe was still here? Part 6 examines the texts without pretending they all say the same thing. We separate the Hebrew Bible, New Testament, 1 Enoch, Jubilees and later traditions so you can see the evidence—and decide what you believe it means. And Part 7? Apparently…we’re investigating demons. 🎙️ MAMA RAE PODCAST Independent investigation. Ancient texts. History. Questions worth asking. NEPAL DISASTER UPDATE: Families Are Holding Funerals Without Their Dead

We just published Part 2 of our Nepal–Tibet disaster investigation. But we promised you we would stay on top of this story. And this update cannot wait. In Nepal, the enormous number of dead and missing has created another crisis—one involving religion, culture and the basic human need to say goodbye. Authorities have begun temporarily burying some unidentified victims as morgues and forensic facilities struggle with capacity and decomposition. Before burial, officials say DNA samples are being collected, photographs and identifying features are being documented, and identification numbers are being assigned so remains can potentially be returned to families later. But for many Hindu families, burial presents a profound religious concern. Cremation and specific final rites carry deep spiritual significance. And thousands of families still do not have the bodies of the people they lost. Some families are now holding symbolic cremation ceremonies, using effigies made from materials such as straw or sacred kusha grass to represent loved ones whose remains have never been recovered. In this special Mama Rae Podcast update, we examine: • Why Nepal has begun temporarily burying unidentified victims
• How authorities are preserving DNA and identification information
• Why cremation and final rites are deeply significant within Hindu traditions
• Families performing symbolic funerals for people still listed as missing
• A reported case involving a family unable to locate their relative’s recovered remains
• The difference between logistical necessity and intentional cultural interference
• How this catastrophe is affecting religious traditions alongside lives, homes and communities
• What the word “missing” actually means for thousands of families still waiting for answers IMPORTANT CONTEXT There is currently no evidence that Nepalese authorities are intentionally disrespecting Hindu religious traditions or deliberately interfering with funeral rites. Available reporting indicates authorities are confronting an extraordinary disaster in which the number and condition of recovered remains have overwhelmed normal mortuary and identification systems. But the consequences are deeply human. Culture isn’t only found in temples, monasteries or historical buildings. Culture also lives in the way families welcome life— and the way they say goodbye to the dead. Some families in Nepal are now being forced to perform those final rituals without ever recovering the person they loved. That deserves to be documented. SOURCES TO CROSS-REFERENCE Reporting discussed in this episode can be independently cross-referenced through: Associated Press — September 2 reporting documenting symbolic funeral ceremonies and unidentified victims

THEY KNEW THE MOUNTAINS WERE CHANGING — PART 2: The Warning Signs We Couldn’t See Until After

The mountain collapsed on August 26. Now scientists are looking backward—and finding signs something was changing before it failed. In Part 2 of the Mama Rae Podcast investigation into the Nepal–Tibet disaster, Mama Rae examines major developments since our original report. Satellite analysis indicates portions of the glacier-and-rock system were moving—and apparently accelerating—before the catastrophic failure. That does not mean anyone knew the mountain would collapse on August 26. But it raises an important question: Could the instability have been detected earlier if someone had been watching the right signals? In this investigation: New scientific analysis of the Langtang rock–ice collapse• Possible pre-event warning signals in satellite data• What Nepal and China discussed during their May 27 disaster-risk meeting• Nepal’s push for stronger real-time glacier and water-level information from China• A new seismic, camera and satellite-based warning system planned near the border• How one school received roughly 14 minutes of warning and evacuated hundreds before the building was destroyed• The hydropower disaster and attempts to reach workers trapped underground• China’s reopening of the G216 highway into Tibet’s disaster zone• Restrictions on independent foreign journalists reporting from affected areas of Tibet• Reports of deleted eyewitness material and penalties involving unauthorized disaster information• China’s response to censorship and casualty-count allegations• Evolving death and missing-person counts• International rescue and humanitarian assistance• Destruction and displacement affecting Tamang and Buddhist communities, monasteries and traditions• Whether this catastrophe affected global weather—and what climate science actually tells usThere is currently no credible evidence that the August 26 collapse changed global weather patterns. Scientists have documented rapid warming, glacier retreat and increasing instability across high-mountain environments. Researchers are still determining what role those conditions played in this particular catastrophe. IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE This investigation has found no credible evidence that China caused this disaster, intentionally allowed it to occur, or knew this particular mountain would collapse on August 26. Regional hazard awareness, retrospective warning signals, restricted information access and shortcomings in disaster preparedness should not be confused with evidence of specific foreknowledge. We separate verified facts from allegations and unanswered questions throughout this episode. The Book of Enoch Part 5: After the Giants Died — Where Did Evil Spirits Come From?

The Watchers descended. The giants were born. Forbidden knowledge spread. Now comes the judgment. In Part 5 of the Mama Rae Podcast’s investigation into the Book of Enoch, we continue directly from the Watchers story—and uncover one of the strangest teachings contained within 1 Enoch. According to the text, heaven responds to the violence and corruption spreading across Earth. The Watchers are condemned. Azazel is bound and cast into darkness. The giants are sentenced to destruction. But then something unexpected happens. The giants die… and according to 1 Enoch, their spirits remain. The text identifies these disembodied beings as evil spirits upon the Earth—providing an ancient explanation for the continuing existence of hostile spirits that many modern Christians may never have encountered. So does the Book of Enoch actually explain where demons came from? And is that what the Bible teaches? In this episode, we investigate 1 Enoch 9–16, the judgment of the Watchers, Azazel’s extraordinary punishment, the destruction of the giants and the moment the condemned Watchers ask Enoch himself to petition God on their behalf. Then we compare this tradition with Genesis, Leviticus, Jude and 2 Peter and investigate another mystery: Why does the name Azazel also appear in connection with the Day of Atonement ritual in Leviticus 16? And there’s another problem. If the Watchers are rebellious heavenly beings… and Enoch says the evil spirits roaming Earth originate from their dead offspring… where is Satan in all of this? Because the popular idea that demons are simply fallen angels who followed Satan is not presented in the Bible as one straightforward origin story. And that leads directly into our next investigation. 🔥 COMING IN PART 6: SATAN, LUCIFER & THE SERPENT — ARE THEY ACTUALLY THE SAME BEING? We’re going back to the texts to separate what Scripture actually says from interpretations and traditions that developed later. 📖 READ ALONG:
1 Enoch 9–16
Genesis 6
Leviticus 16
Jude 6 & 14–15
2 Peter 2:4 As always, this investigation distinguishes between what ancient texts claim, historical evidence, scholarly interpretation, theological belief and modern speculation. We’re not here to tell you what you’re allowed to believe. We’re here to ask: Where does the text actually say that? Don’t take my word for it. Investigate it. 🔎 🎙️ Mama Rae Podcast #BookOfEnoch #TheWatchers #Nephilim #BiblicalHistory #MamaRaePodcast

THEY KNEW THE MOUNTAINS WERE CHANGING: Nepal, Tibet & the Warnings Before the Disaster

What did governments know before the catastrophic August 26, 2026 disaster along the Nepal–Tibet border? In this follow-up to “What Happened to Free Tibet?”, Mama Rae investigates what was known before the mountain came down. Scientists had warned for years that Himalayan glaciers were rapidly changing. Transboundary glacial floods had repeatedly affected Nepal, including a devastating 2025 flood in this same border corridor. Then, on May 27, 2026 — just three months before the catastrophe — Nepali and Chinese officials met to discuss glaciers, floods, hazard mapping and disaster preparedness. According to Reuters, Nepal wanted expanded information about early glacier movement that could help warn downstream communities. Three months later, catastrophe struck. We investigate: • Years of Himalayan glacier warnings • The 2025 China–Nepal border flood • The May 27 China–Nepal meeting • What Nepal requested from China • The warning that gave 900+ students and faculty roughly 14 minutes to evacuate before their school was destroyed • What scientists believe collapsed on August 26 • Chinese, U.S. and international humanitarian responses • Restrictions on foreign journalists attempting to reach affected areas of Tibet • Reports of disaster footage disappearing from Chinese platforms • Beijing’s response • The death and missing-person toll • What Tibetan communities and cultural history may have been lost IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE This investigation does NOT conclude that China caused the disaster, intentionally allowed it to occur or knew this specific collapse was imminent. Current evidence does not establish those claims. Instead, we ask: If governments knew these mountains were becoming increasingly dangerous, why wasn’t a stronger transboundary monitoring and early-warning system already protecting communities below them? Casualty figures reflect information available when this episode was recorded on August 31, 2026 and will change as recovery efforts continue. The Book of Enoch Investigation Part 4: The Watchers | Who Were They & What Did They Teach Humanity?

We promised we were going to meet them. Now it’s time. The Watchers. In Part 4 of the Mama Rae Podcast’s investigation into the Book of Enoch, we finally open the ancient text and examine one of its strangest and most controversial stories. According to 1 Enoch, a group of heavenly beings known as the Watchers descended to Earth, took human wives, produced extraordinary offspring—and introduced humanity to knowledge the text portrays as forbidden. Weapons. Metallurgy. Cosmetics. Astrology. Enchantments. Plants and roots. Signs of the Earth and heavens. But why would an ancient text portray the transmission of knowledge as something dangerous? And what does this story have to do with the mysterious passage in Genesis 6:1–4 describing the “sons of God,” human women and the Nephilim? We investigate the Watchers’ descent to Mount Hermon, their oath, Shemihazah/Semjaza, Azazel, the giants, the Nephilim tradition and the forbidden knowledge attributed to the Watchers. Then we compare Enoch with Genesis, Jude and 2 Peter to determine where these ancient traditions overlap—and where modern theories go far beyond what the texts actually say. We also ask a question that feels remarkably relevant thousands of years later: Can humanity acquire knowledge faster than it develops the wisdom to use it responsibly? From metallurgy and weapons to modern technologies capable of transforming civilization, the Watchers story raises an uncomfortable question about knowledge, power and responsibility. Throughout this investigation, we distinguish between what the ancient texts claim, what historical and archaeological evidence can establish, scholarly interpretation, religious belief and modern speculation. This isn’t about telling you what to believe. It’s about opening the texts, examining the evidence and giving ordinary people access to a conversation that has been happening among theologians, historians and scholars for centuries. Don’t take my word for it. Investigate it. 📖 READ ALONG: 1 Enoch Chapters 6–16 Genesis 6:1–13 Jude 6 & 14–15 2 Peter 2:4 🔎 COMING IN PART 5: The judgment of the Watchers. Azazel’s punishment. The Book of Enoch Part 3: Who Decided What We Were Allowed to Read?

Why isn’t the Book of Enoch in most Bibles? And perhaps the more important question is: Who decided? In Part 3 of the Mama Rae Podcast investigation into the Book of Enoch, we move beyond what the text says and investigate something much bigger—the history of who determines which ancient writings become Scripture, which remain outside the canon, and which eventually disappear from mainstream religious education almost entirely. Because the Book of Enoch did not simply vanish. Ancient Jewish communities were copying Enochic writings more than 2,000 years ago. Fragments from multiple manuscripts were discovered among the Dead Sea Scrolls at Qumran. The New Testament’s Epistle of Jude contains a prophecy attributed to Enoch that closely parallels 1 Enoch 1:9. And while Enoch disappeared from the biblical canon used by most Western Christians, it survived within the tradition of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. So what happened? Was Enoch deliberately removed? Was it simply one of many ancient religious writings that failed to achieve widespread canonical acceptance? Why did some Christian traditions preserve books that others did not? And who historically had the power to determine which knowledge ordinary people could access? This episode also takes on a controversial theory: What if certain knowledge has historically been treated as privileged information? Throughout history, access to manuscripts, libraries, education, translation and literacy has not been equally distributed. Religious institutions, governments, universities, empires and other powerful institutions have all played roles in preserving, restricting, interpreting—or sometimes destroying—information. That historical reality does not automatically prove that a secret group intentionally suppressed the Book of Enoch. But it gives us a question worth investigating. And on the Mama Rae Podcast, we’re going to investigate it. If information exists that was once accessible primarily to scholars, religious authorities, governments, wealthy collectors or powerful institutions, I want ordinary people to be able to examine it too. Give us the manuscripts. Give us the archaeology. Give us the translations. Give us the arguments. Give us the primary sources. We are breaking the traditional learning system by refusing to outsource our curiosity. This isn’t about telling you what to believe. It’s about giving you enough information to investigate for yourself. In this episode, we examine: • How the biblical canon actually developed
• Why there wasn’t simply one universally agreed-upon Christian Bible from the beginning
• The Ethiopian Orthodox preservation of 1 Enoch
• The 81-book Ethiopian Orthodox biblical tradition
• The Dead Sea Scroll fragments of Enoch
• Jude’s remarkable connection to 1 Enoch
• Athanasius’s influential 367 AD list of biblical books
• Whether the Council of Nicaea actually “removed” Enoch
• The difference between historical evidence and modern conspiracy claims
• How access to knowledge has historically been controlled
• And why Enoch may be the perfect case study for investigating what humanity remembers—and what it forgets And then we arrive at the question that takes this investigation somewhere even stranger. Because according to Enoch, the Watchers didn’t simply descend to Earth. They taught humanity knowledge. Metallurgy. Weapons. Cosmetics. Astrology. The movements of the heavens. Knowledge that, according to the story, humanity was never supposed to receive. Which leaves us with an extraordinary question heading into Part 4: Is all knowledge meant to be known? And who gets to decide? Next: The Watchers. Welcome to the Mama Rae Podcast. We reveal all. #BookOfEnoch #DeadSeaScrolls #AncientHistory #BiblicalHistory #MamaRaePodcast

What Happened to “Free Tibet”? | The Tibet-Nepal Disaster, China & the Story the World Forgot

What happened to “Free Tibet”—and why does that question suddenly feel so urgent again? On August 26, 2026, catastrophe struck communities along the Nepal-Tibet border, leaving scores dead and many more missing. As rescue efforts continue, another question has resurfaced: What happened to the movement that once demanded the world pay attention to Tibet? For decades, “FREE TIBET” was one of the world’s most recognizable human-rights slogans. Then much of the Western world seemingly stopped talking about it. But Tibet didn’t disappear. In this episode of the Mama Rae Podcast, Rachel examines the history behind the Free Tibet movement—from China’s entry into Tibet in 1950 and the controversial 1951 Seventeen Point Agreement to the 1959 Tibetan uprising and the Dalai Lama’s escape into India. We examine China’s description of Tibet’s “peaceful liberation,” the competing Tibetan account, and the Dalai Lama’s Middle Way Approach, which seeks meaningful Tibetan autonomy within the People’s Republic of China rather than complete independence. We also bring the story into the present: continuing concerns over Tibetan religious and cultural freedom, language preservation, restrictions on independent foreign access, Human Rights Watch’s 2026 reporting on Tibetan preschool education, and the July 2026 death of Tibetan activist Lobga Rangzen/Lobsang Palden following an apparent self-immolation outside United Nations headquarters. Now, as disaster strikes the Himalayan borderlands, an uncomfortable question emerges: When Tibet needs the world, how much of Tibet will the world actually be allowed to see? Maybe “Free Tibet” never disappeared. Maybe the rest of us simply stopped looking. IN THIS EPISODE • The August 2026 Nepal-Tibet disaster
• What “Free Tibet” actually meant
• China’s entry into Tibet and the Seventeen Point Agreement
• The 1959 Tibetan uprising
• Why the Dalai Lama fled Tibet
• The Middle Way Approach
• Tibetan language, religion and cultural preservation
• Restrictions on independent access to Tibet
• Tibetan self-immolation protests
• The Himalayas and the “Third Pole”
• Why transparency matters during humanitarian disasters IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER This episode discusses an active and developing natural disaster. Casualty and missing-person figures may have changed since recording. Tibet’s modern political history remains disputed. China maintains that Tibet has historically been part of China and describes its assumption of control as “peaceful liberation.” Tibetan exile authorities and human-rights organizations characterize significant aspects of this history differently. This episode presents competing positions alongside independent reporting wherever possible. Criticism of Chinese government policy should not be interpreted as criticism of Chinese people or culture.
