How Redefining Work Can Reveal Your Deeper Calling

What would you do if you discovered that all your toil and labor striving toward the life you thought you wanted — and the career you thought you were building — no longer fit? Would you press on, thinking just one more push would get you to where you need to be? Might you try a slight pivot to see if that would reignite the fire? Or would you pull back, evaluate, and open yourself up to a new direction? In this episode of the StableMinded Podcast, Lisa Pulliam continues sharing her journey through a three-month sabbatical and the unexpected clarity that emerged when sh stopped striving, producing, and trying to keep everything moving. She describes that as her nervous system moved from survival to rest, reviving not only her creativity but also the ability to think more clearly, sh was ready to seek God for direction for what was to come after sabbatical. The clarity came through redefining work into four distinct categories: hobby, job, career, and vocation. The distinction was challenging yet invited her to to look deeper, asking these questions: What am I drawn to spend my time doing? What do I feel like I have to do? What is life-draining? Life-giving? What is the value I placed on my work? Others? What is the measure of success? Failure? The more sh wrestled with these questions, the more clarity she gained in some areas of life while others felt very unclear — beckoning for more time to explore motives and mindset before making any decision. Maybe that is where you find yourself today. Whether you feel stuck and weary or wondering with hope about what may come next, Lisa's story and the framework she followed for considering her calling in a new way will help you find the courage to redefine work and explore what your deeper calling may be as well. Permission to Change: Part 2

In this episode of the StableMinded Podcast, we continue to explore what it looks like to give ourselves “permission to change.” By looking intentionally at our spiritual, emotional, and relational health through a framework drawn from Erikson's developmental model side-by-side with the stages of spiritual maturity, we can gain insight into how our developmental wounds and attachment patterns shape the way we relate to God and others. These patterns and coping strategies often rise to the surface when we face “the wall,” also known as the dark soul of the night, which usually occurs during or after a season of suffering. This is when faith is truly tested. And that is often when we get stuck. The way forward requires intentional pursuit, and that pursuit can create friction in relationships, routines, and expectations. But with the right support in place, and strategies that strive to preserve healthy relationships while deepening faith and resiliency, it is possible to experience God's transforming work in your heart, soul, mind, and body.  Key takeaways Transformation requires intention and often brings relational tension.Spiritual maturity is a process, and many people get stuck in suffering seasons.Developmental wounds can shape faith, relationships, and resilience.Healing is holistic and may require mentorship, spiritual direction, and therapy.Colossians 3 frames change as continual surrender: put off the old, put on the new, and choose love. Limits, Loss, and Holding Eternal Hope

If you’ve ever thought, “Why can’t I just be over this?” this one is for you. This episode of the StableMinded Podcast is a real-time, from-the-heart conversation about the roller coaster of emotions that come when we experience the limits of our humanity, the challenges of grief and loss, and what it means to hold the hope of eternity in mind. In this episode, we talk about: The confusing “both-and” of grief and reliefThe grief we don’t name enough: accepting people’s limitationsThe tension of living between what is and what we want Sometimes what we are craving is actually a longing for heaven-on-earth. When we step back and see our current situation from that vantage point, we're better set up to embrace our limits, release others from unrealistic expectations, process the loss and grief that comes both in life and death, and shift our perspective towards remembering that this life is temporary. This is our journey from Eden to Eternity, where longing for beauty, perfection, and redemption beckons us onward. Even so, we live in the not yet. So if you’re walking through loss, disappointment, estrangement, or a relationship that will not become what you hoped, lean in and be encouraged. And be ready to jot down the journal questions near the end to help you name what you need, release what you cannot control, and ask God for the grace to live your “new normal.” Helpful Links Thrive Tool Box StableMinded On Demand Highlands Ability Battery Equipped Group Coaching Program Connect & Grow Links Evergreen Retreat & Bible Study Stableminded.us StableMinded On Demand Instagram Facebook Hosted on Acast.
