Karen Mason (Mamma Mia!, Sunset Boulevard)

Today's guest is a true Broadway and cabaret legend, Karen Mason! Karen has played some of musical theater’s most iconic roles. She originated the role of Tanya in Mamma Mia!, starred as the Queen of Hearts in Wonderland, and was part of the final Broadway company of Hairspray as Velma von Tussle. She’s also taken on one of musical theater’s most coveted leading roles, Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard, serving as standby for Glenn Close, Betty Buckley, and Elaine Paige. Now, Karen is continuing to share that wealth of experience with the next generation of performers through A Cabaret Performance Workshop at 92NY, where she’ll be teaching and mentoring artists on October 2nd and 3rd. Tickets are still available to audit the class, so if you’re interested in learning from Karen firsthand, definitely check that out. In this episode, we talk about what she learned from Glenn Close, the joy of Cats the Jellicle Ball, the moment when she saw John Kander in the audience when she performed his iconic music, and so much more! ⭐️ RATE • REVIEW • SUBSCRIBE ⭐️ If you love theatre and fashion as much as we do, invite another diva to join the Dressed Rehearsal community.
