JESUS (Week 4) - The Lamb of God

What do you do with the parts of your life you wish you could undo? In our JESUS Series, Jared Nassiff teaches from John 1:29, where John the Baptist sees Jesus and declares, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.” That one title opens up three powerful pictures of Jesus: the warrior Lamb, the sacrificial Lamb, and the Passover Lamb. From Genesis to Isaiah to Revelation, Scripture points toward a Savior whose victory comes not through brute force, but through sacrifice. We cannot outweigh our failures with enough good deeds, religious accomplishments, or effort. God himself provides the Lamb. Jesus takes upon himself what we could never repair on our own, and through his blood we are offered forgiveness, freedom, and life without condemnation. Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

JESUS (Week 3) - Discovering Our Truest Identity

What is the truest thing about you? We build our identity on performance, relationships, appearance, success, and the opinions of others, but none of those things can carry the weight of who we are. In our JESUS series, Pastor Patrick returns to Matthew 3:13–17 and Jesus’ baptism, where the Father declares His love for the Son and the Holy Spirit descends upon Him. From there, Patrick explores the Trinity not as an abstract doctrine, but as the eternal community of love at the heart of reality, and what it means for those in Christ to be adopted into God’s family. Your deepest identity is not what you accomplish or what others think of you. In Christ, you are a beloved son or daughter, invited into the life and love of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

JESUS (Week 2) - The Baptism of Jesus

What does baptism have to do with rescue? In Matthew 3, John the Baptist calls Israel to repentance, Jesus steps into the Jordan, and heaven opens over him: “This is my Son, whom I love.” Pastor Ben traces a biblical pattern of God bringing his people through the waters, from Noah to the Red Sea to the Jordan, and shows how Jesus enters those waters with us. This message explores repentance, baptism, renouncing the old life, and what it means to identify with Jesus in his death and resurrection. Baptism is not magic water or a way to earn salvation. It is a response of faith: burying the old self, rising to new life, and declaring that our allegiance belongs to Jesus. When we cannot rescue ourselves, Jesus comes into the water with us, and he does not let go.

JESUS (Week 1) - Who is Jesus?

Who is Jesus, really? Few people have shaped history more deeply, but Jesus did not present himself merely as a teacher, moral reformer, or religious leader. In the first message of JESUS: Volume I — The Arrival, Pastor Ben begins with the historical Jesus and then turns to the claims Jesus and his earliest followers made about him. In John’s Gospel, Jesus is presented as the Word who was with God and was God, the bread of life, the resurrection and the life, and the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus claims to be the origin of the story, the answer to the story, and the conclusion of the story. The question is not simply whether Jesus influenced history. It is whether he is central to yours. John says these things were written “that you may believe” and, by believing, have life in his name.

Welcome Home Sunday

Why does Presence Church exist, and where is God leading us next? On Welcome Home Sunday, Pastors Ben Mueller and Patrick look back on Presence Church’s first year and return to the convictions that started it all: God’s presence, Jesus’ Great Commission, and a Spirit-led vision for making disciples. From baptisms and new decisions to follow Jesus to growing discipleship Bands, prayer gatherings, city service, and collaboration with other churches, this message celebrates God’s faithfulness without losing sight of the mission ahead. Ben and Patrick also share where Presence is headed in year two: deeper relational disciple-making, Spirit-led worship, formation around Jesus, biblical teaching, spiritual practices, and raising up leaders for the harvest. The prayer remains the same: “If your presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.”

Church in the District 2026

What is actually worth building your life around? At Church in the District, Pastor Parker McGoldrick teaches from Matthew 13:44–46 as Presence Church and Ankeny Gospel Church gather together around Jesus. We spend our lives chasing compelling visions of happiness, security, success, and belonging. But these short parables invite us to ask a deeper question: have we found Jesus, do we truly value Him, and have we received the life He offers? Following Jesus is not meant to be a boring obligation or spiritual extracurricular. Jesus offers forgiveness, freedom, joy, the presence of the Holy Spirit, and life with God. When we truly see the value of Jesus, surrender stops looking primarily like loss. Like the treasure in the field and the pearl of great value, we discover something worth giving everything for.

Daniel (Week 7) - One Like a Son of Man

Why does human history seem stuck in the same cycle of power, violence, and destruction? In the final message of our Daniel series, Pastor Ben Mueller teaches from Daniel 7 and its strange apocalyptic vision of beasts rising out of the sea. These beasts represent the violent, oppressive kingdoms of the world, the repeated pattern of rulers and empires that devour, conquer, and destroy. But Daniel’s vision does not end with the beasts. Daniel sees the Ancient of Days seated on the throne, the court of heaven opened, and “one like a son of man” coming with the clouds of heaven. This Son of Man receives authority, glory, sovereign power, and an eternal kingdom that will never be destroyed. This sermon shows how Daniel 7 points us to Jesus, the true human, the divine cloud-rider, the One who defeats the beasts not by becoming a greater beast, but by laying down His life in sacrificial love. Even when the beasts rage, God is still in control. Jesus is coming back. His kingdom will endure forever.

Daniel (Week 6) - Just as He Had Done Before

How do we live in our host culture without compromising to our host culture? In this message from Daniel 6, Pastor Patrick walks through the familiar story of Daniel in the lions’ den with fresh attention to Daniel’s faithfulness, perspective, and prayer. Daniel did not serve Babylon or Persia by retreating from the world, but by seeking the good of the place where God had put him. Yet when the culture demanded ultimate allegiance, Daniel knew where to draw the line. This sermon explores how Daniel’s daily rhythms formed him into the kind of person who could stand firm when compromise came. He did not suddenly become courageous in the crisis. His life of prayer had already prepared him. Daniel’s story points us to Jesus, the truly righteous One, who entered the grave on behalf of the guilty so that we could receive life. When we fail, compromise, or find ourselves headed toward death, Jesus makes a way through repentance and new life in Him.
