The Light of the World is Near You: A 23 Minute "Set" of Verses and Songs

Hello all! This is a collection of songs that our children at Zion and our Zion Sing Club will sing this year. It is almost 25 minutes of music and bible readings meant to help children learn new Christmas songs and focus on Luke 2, John 1 and Isaiah 9 in large sections. The songs are quite different from what you may normally hear in your Christmas carol play-lists! Consider it a welcomed "step out of the box" for your older children and a neat exposure to something different for your younger ones. I speak the memory verses with my piano playing underneath so your children can hear the Scripture again and again. It's my prayer that the piano part will help "text paint" the words! Charles Wesley "Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus" is featured along with Martin Luther's Hymn "From Heaven Above to Earth I Come-" the Reformation's first Christmas pageant hymn! This hymn is hidden in the song "Welcome to Earth," which is a re-written melody by Steven Springborn (a friend of mine!) put with the hymn "Joy to the World." My Christmas hymn "Isaiah Foretold" is also in the 23 minute "set' as my version of the Lord's Prayer and a Robert Lau "Starlight, Starbright" which interlaces with "Away in a Manger." Patreon is such a wonderful place to post these sorts of things- resources for my home church as well as for you! These pieces are woven into the Children's Christmas Service I wrote entitled "The Light of the World Is Near You." God's blessings as you prepare for His coming! Cara

  2. [PREVIEW] How Beautiful on the Mountaintop

[PREVIEW] How Beautiful on the Mountaintop

This song is based on the famous passage from Isaiah 52, How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” I wrote it when my baby boy was 4 weeks old and my husband planned a trip to the Asheville, North Carolina area. I hadn't felt fresh air like that in months and the views of the beautiful blue mountains were breath-taking. Years of memorization of Bible passages served me well, and this passage came to mind! I thank God for those in the past who carried the good news on beautiful feet to me. In the church year, this could fit in three different areas. 1. At the end of the pentecost season at the beginning of traditional academic years, thanking God for Christian education and parents and teachers who bring the good news. 2. At the beginning of Advent. Early December brings stories of angels bringing the news to Zechariah, Elizabeth, Mary, and Joseph, the shepherds that the Savior will be born. 3. During Epiphany, when we focus on John the Baptist preparing the way for the Lord, pointing to him to say the Gospel in this one sentence, "Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." How beautiful are the feet of the ordinary people God has placed in our lives to bring us the Gospel: the pure WORD made flesh, the promises he embodies, and the peace that is ours in our Savior. The PDF of this song will be attached shortly! In the meantime enjoy the song!
