A Conversation with JD McGibney from Angels on the Battlefield

On this extra special episode Matt has the honor of sitting down with JD McGibney (guitarist/composer from ANGELS ON THE BATTLEFIELD) for an incredible conversation that was supposed to be all about nerdy interests and how awesome JD's hair is, but instead evolves into a sometimes funny, often times moving discussion about mental health struggles and the work it takes to find peace within yourself. Regular listeners to Does This Come in Chromium will love getting to know JD.  From the first moments of the episode, he reveals himself to truly be one of the nicest and most thoughtful people in the world (who also just so happens to be an extraordinarily talented guitar player and composer).  With his band, ANGELS ON THE BATTLEFIELD, JD has not only found a vehicle to express the ups and downs of his own battles with anxiety and depression, but he's also striving to help others by empowering them to look within and find their strength to face the battles in their lives with courage. Also, JD's a nerd.  After all, he discovered his love of music through the Adam Sandler "classic" LITTLE NICKY.   To listen to JD's music and learn more about his mental health advocacy, please visit: https://onthewingsofdragons.com/ Contact the show: doesthiscomeinchromium@gmail.com Follow Matt on BlueSky: @mattbegins.bsky.social  Intro music from the song "Doin' What We Do" by the always amazing Mustard Plug (https://mustardplug.com/)

Generation X #1 with Bobby Trippett

On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Bobby Trippett (from the GRINDBIN PODCAST) try their best to be totally radical and like, you know, all that and a bag of chips while discussing 1994's GENERATION X #1. If listeners should expect anything from X-Men related episodes of Chromium, it's that Matt really doesn't know anything about the X-Men family - but does that stop him from constantly interrupting and talking over Bobby (the actual expert on the topic)?  Nope, not at all.  In fact, he does it more than usual.  There's a reason the episode clocks in at just over three hours.  That reason's name is Matt. While Bobby, ever the consummate podcast pro, stays laser focused on expressing his love for GENERATION X and making sure that the listeners actually learn things about the characters and storyline, Matt makes a clumsy pitch for paying subscribers and recalls a time he was derisively called "gen x" by an elderly man in a grocery store. But it's cool because both Bobby and Matt agree that Gavin Rossdale would've killed it as Chamber in a movie and more importantly that people need to stop making fun of them for thinking that Bush is a pretty awesome band. Also, Night Man is mentioned once.  By Matt.  Of course. Walter Koenig's Raver #1 with A. Lee Martinez and David Walton

On this episode Matt and special guest co-hosts A. Lee Martinez (author of UNBEARABLE - available now!) and David Walton (recovering from eye surgery now!) try to decide which one of them is going to be sacrificed while the other two eat ice cream and discuss 1993's RAVER #1. Regular listeners to the show will have seen it coming for a while now, but this is the episode that finally broke Matt.  The comic, written by STAR TREK's very own Walter Koenig, was just the right combination of interesting and baffling that it opened the cosmic door and let madness run rampant into Matt's mind.  He will now do nothing but ramble insufferably (well, ramble insufferably MORE than before). But what about Lee and David?  Well, to add insult to Matt's madness, somehow they both kept their heads about them and also managed to speak intelligently about RAVER #1.  In fact, David reveals himself to be some sort of philosopher while Lee stakes a claim to be Does This Come in Chromium's "Arbiter of Interesting" (business cards coming soon). There's no other way to put it: this is the WILDEST episode of Chromium yet and you'd have to be some sort of rav(er)ing lunatic to not listen! Even though he doesn't need my help to sell books, everyone should read everything Lee has written: https://aleemartinez.com/ And while you're at it, you should BUY Lee's newest novel UNBEARABLE: https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/Unbearable/A-Lee-Martinez/9781668073452 Follow Lee on BlueSky: @aleemartinez.bsky.social Follow David on BlueSky: @benreilly149.bsky.social Contact the show: doesthiscomeinchromium@gmail.com Follow Matt on BlueSky: @mattbegins.bsky.social  Intro music from the song "Doin' What We Do" by the always amazing Mustard Plug (https://mustardplug.com/)
