How to Reduce Embarrassing Ostomy Noises During Intimacy

Send us Fan Mail Embarrassing stoma noises during intimacy can make you want to avoid sex altogether. What if a simple belly band could help muffle those sounds and give you more confidence? In this episode of Rewired and Desired, Trina Ricketts and Nicole Richards introduce their new Intimacy Belly Band, a compression garment designed to help reduce stoma noises and keep an ostomy bag more discreet during intimacy. After ostomy surgery, Trina struggled with embarrassment and anxiety about her stoma making unexpected noises, especially during sex. When she discovered that compression could help muffle those sounds, she started searching for a product that would give her more confidence. But nothing she found worked quite the way she wanted. That's when she teamed up with Nicole Richards, founder of Ostomy Innovations, to develop a new option for ostomates. In this honest, sometimes hilarious conversation, we discuss: ●      The embarrassment of unexpected stoma noises during intimacy and everyday life ●      Why ostomy-related anxiety can affect sexual confidence ●      How compression helped Trina muffle stoma sounds ●      Why existing ostomy belly bands weren't meeting her needs ●      How we developed and tested the Intimacy Belly Band ●      Our experience finding manufacturers and testing prototypes ●      The challenges of making an affordable product as small-business owners ●      What we've learned from early product feedback ●      Our plans for the first 100 belly bands and future designs We're not promising a miracle product. We're sharing our experiences, what we've learned, and why we believe ostomates deserve more options for feeling comfortable and confident during intimacy. IMPORTANT: The Intimacy Belly Band provides significant compression and may not be suitable for everyone. Fit, comfort, stoma placement, and individual medical circumstances matter. Why People With Disabilities Can Be Targets for Predators

Send us Fan Mail People with disabilities can face unique vulnerabilities in dating, relationships, online interactions, and everyday life. But vulnerability does not mean powerlessness. In this episode of Rewired and Desired, Trina Ricketts and Nicole Richards have a candid conversation about predatory behavior, romance scams, financial manipulation, physical vulnerability, dating safety, and the importance of recognizing when someone may be trying to take advantage of you. We talk about what can happen when someone sees a disability, illness, loneliness, low self-esteem, or physical limitation as an opportunity for control. We also discuss online dating and romance scams, AI and voice impersonation, personal safety, self-defense for people with physical limitations, and why conversations about vulnerability need to happen without blaming or shaming the person being targeted. Most importantly, being targeted or deceived does not mean you should be ashamed. Awareness gives us more tools to recognize concerning behavior, protect ourselves, and look out for the people we care about. ⚠️ This episode includes personal experiences, opinions, and discussion of stories encountered online. Some examples discussed have not been independently verified and should not be interpreted as confirmed events or professional safety advice. Women Are Expected to Be Good AND Bad

Send us Fan Mail Are you a “good girl” or a “bad girl”? And who decided what either of those things actually means? Trina and Nicole unpack the double standards, shame, sexuality, motherhood and expectations that still shape how women are judged. In this episode of Rewired and Desired, we explore the good girl/bad girl dichotomy and what happens when women step outside the roles society expects them to play. Trina shares how working in adult entertainment exposed her to assumptions about who she was as a woman, mother and partner, even when those assumptions had little to do with who she actually was. Nicole brings a different perspective: appearing more like the stereotypical “good girl” while making unconventional choices and refusing to build her life around other people's expectations. Together, we talk about sexual shame, dating, motherhood, work, independence, sex work, disability, bodily autonomy and the strange tightrope women are expected to walk: attractive but respectable, independent but nurturing, sexual but not “too sexual,” confident but not threatening. At some point, maybe the question isn't whether you're a good girl or a bad girl. Maybe it's why we're still sorting women into those boxes at all. Why Women Fake Pleasure (And What It Really Means)

Send us Fan Mail Why do women fake orgasms, and is it always because the sex isn't good?  The real reasons can involve pressure, insecurity, pain, performance, communication... and sometimes simply wanting it to be over. In this episode of Rewired and Desired, Trina Ricketts and Nicole Richards have an honest conversation about why women fake orgasms and what faking can reveal about pleasure, confidence, communication, and intimacy. We talk about the pressure to “perform” during sex, worrying about how your body looks or sounds, orgasm expectations, the emphasis society places on penetrative intimacy, and how getting stuck in your head can make pleasure even harder. We also explore intimacy when penetration is painful, difficult, or impossible because of surgery, disability, medical conditions, or sexual-function changes, and why taking penetration and orgasm off the pedestal can sometimes create more room for genuine pleasure. And then there's the controversial question: Is there ever a time when faking an orgasm might actually be okay? Trina shares one situation where, based entirely on her own personal experience, she thinks it might be. No study. No scientific claim. Just an interesting idea we're curious to hear your thoughts about. In this episode: ❤️ Why women fake orgasms  ❤️ Sex and performance pressure  ❤️ Body insecurity during intimacy  ❤️ Why orgasm shouldn't become a “quota”  ❤️ Penetration vs. non-penetrative intimacy  ❤️ Getting out of your head and back into your body  ❤️ Intimacy after surgery or medical changes  ❤️ Performance anxiety and erections  ❤️ Talking openly about pleasure with your partner  ❤️ The one situation where Trina thinks faking might actually help Support the show 📌 Connect With Us Trina Ricketts – The Intimate Ostomate Website: intimateostomate.com Instagram:   / intimateostomate  Youtube:    / @intimateostomate  Books, guides, coaching & resources Coaching • Books / Guides • Resources • Intimacy Advocacy Nicole Richards - Ostomy Innovations Website: ostomyinnovations222.com Instagram:   / ostomyinnovations  Youtube:    / @ostomyinnovations222  Coaching • Wellness • Disability advocacy • Ostomy Clothing
