    Is Love Island For the Gays?

    Welcome back to Fairy Gaymothers! This week begins with Hunter & Kat doing what they do best (spreading the gay gospel). Naturally, this leads to a deep reflection on the inexplicable phenomenon that is Buffalo, NY, before Kat takes it upon herself to dispel the persistent and deeply misguided rumour that soccer (football?) is straight. For this week’s lesson, Kat & Hunter turn their attention to one of society’s greatest ongoing sociological experiments, Love Island. They investigate whether the newest season has finally achieved gay status, brainstorm the ways it could become gayer, and unpack why reality dating TV seems determined to keep queer people on the sidelines. Along the way, they imagine what the perfect queer dating show would look like, revisit the valiant (occasionally disastrous) attempts that have come before, and grapple with one uncomfortable possibility: maybe only straight people are capable of manufacturing drama on this scale. As always, we tackle the questions academia refuses to answer, offers completely unbiased cultural analysis despite having absolutely no qualifications.     Welcome back to Fairy Gaymothers! This week begins with Kat conducting a deeply important reenactment of the internet’s most pressing philosophical question: would it actually be weird if Stitch and Girl Stitch were in a relationship? Meanwhile, Hunter experiences a series of rapid fire crash outs, sparked by everything from pimple stickers to the countless injustices of modern life. The girls also take a moment to recognize the invaluable contributions Eli has made to society, including releasing a certified pop princess album and single-handedly making it socially acceptable to openly admit that you want to fornicate with a DJ. Progress comes in many forms. For this week’s lesson, Kat and Hunter turn to the sacred archives of Gay AITA Reddit, reading through a collection of delightfully messy stories to determine who is actually the a*****e. Armed with absolutely no qualifications but an overwhelming amount of confidence, the girls dissect the questionable decisions and uniquely gay circumstances.     Why Lesbians Hate Bisexuals

    Welcome back to Fairy Gaymothers Sorta, where Kat and Hunter tackle one of the LGBTQ+ community’s oldest and least productive debates: lesbians vs. bisexuals. Before class begins, however, the girls debut a pair of deeply questionable accents while dramatically reading a spicy scene from the sequel to Heated Rivalry, a decision that may permanently alter the trajectory of the podcast. From discourse over who gets to claim which labels to the ongoing negotiations around queer spaces, Kat and Hunter attempt to get to the bottom of the age-old lesbian versus bisexual debate. Who belongs where? Who can call themselves what? And is anyone actually having a good time arguing about it?     Perspectives on Obsession: Is It a Gay Movie?

    Hi gay! Welcome back to Fairy Gaymothers Sorta Season 2! Episode 3 starts off with a bang, with Kat sharing the gayest thing to happen to her (and consequently, Hunter) this week, truly a happy pride to all. 🌈 This week, the girls turn their attention to the 2026 horror-thriller Obsession, using the film as a jumping-off point to explore one of humanity’s most enduring conditions: obsession. More specifically, the differences between straight obsession and lesbian obsession. Through rigorous analysis, Kat and Hunter examine whether Nikki was actually a great girlfriend, why straight men seem uniquely capable of developing a crush and immediately making it everyone else’s problem, and what separates harmless yearning from behavior that would warrant a restraining order. Using Obsession as both a cultural artifact and cautionary tale, the girls investigate how obsession manifests across sexualities, whether lesbians have perfected the art of fixation, and why straight people consistently insist on creating unnecessary chaos in pursuit of romance.     Gay Perspectives on Girl Code

    Welcome back to Fairy Gaymothers Sorta for season two, episode two, where Kat and Hunter take on one of society’s most confusing and inconsistently enforced social contracts: girl code. Through extensive research (watching clips of reality television on TikTok and god forbid, Reels), the girls attempt to determine what girl code actually is, whether lesbians play by a different set of rules, and at what point “violating girl code” becomes indistinguishable from simply making a decision someone didn’t like. Using case studies from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and the latest Summer House drama, Kat and Hunter examine the ever-expanding list of offenses that can often be used to label someone as not “a girl’s girl”. Is there a universal code? Does one NEED a code to have compassion and consideration for women? After some time away dedicated to becoming even gayer and, somehow, even funnier, Kat and Hunter return for the very first episode of season two.     Know Thy Unknowns: Fairy Gaymothers Sorta

    In the season finale of Fairy Gaymothers Sorta, Kat and Hunter complete their exam in the last instalment of their extremely rigorous (and completely self-appointed) curriculum of semester one: Know Thy Unknown. This week, they turn their attention to the things that simply refuse to make sense, and perhaps were never meant to. First on the agenda, Kat and Hunter report back with their recurring fieldwork segment: The Crash, Bit, Bang. In a special twist, the girls take turns crashing out over the many things in this world they just don’t understand. Some are sweeping, existential concepts, others are smaller, more niche curiosities… and a few are things they’ve decided they’re actually better off not knowing at all. Wrapping up their first semester at Fairy Gaymother Academy, Kat and Hunter reflect on everything they’ve learned (academically, spiritually, and emotionally, give or take), revisit standout moments, and take stock of how their worldview has shifted.     Know Thy Shepherd: Fairy Gaymothers Sorta

    In this episode of Fairy Gaymothers Sorta, Kat and Hunter enrol in another instalment of their extremely rigorous (and completely self-appointed) curriculum: Know Thy Shepherd. This week, they examine who we’re really taking advice from, and ask what happens when the loudest voices in the room are also the most misguided? First on the agenda, Kat and Hunter report back with their recurring fieldwork segment: The Crash, Bit, Bang. Hunter crashes out over St. Patrick’s Day and the alarming influx of women posting their deeply questionable boyfriends (be serious), while Kat finds herself endlessly entertained by men attempting (earnestly, yet unsuccessfully) to understand diva cups. Points for effort, perhaps. From there, we move into the main lecture: the manosphere. Inspired by Louis Theroux’s Inside the Manosphere documentary, Kat and Hunter unpack the rise of red pill content and the pipeline drawing young men into these digital echo chambers. What makes these spaces so enticing? Why are they resonating now? And more importantly, how do we begin to challenge and dismantle them without further alienating the very people caught inside?
