    Death Becomes Her | A Halloween Cult Classic

    Happy Halloween!! This week we are reviewing Death Becomes Her - not much of a romance, but definitely a cult classic featuring two iconic women, Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn. We share our unfiltered thoughts and try to decipher whether the movie is effective satire, or just some anti-feminist 90s body horror. Before we get into the movie, we discuss the release of the highly anticipated sixth installment in the ACOTAR series, A Court of Splintered Harmony. We once again scratch our heads at what has felt like a strange and convoluted rollout of this book, but nevertheless, we will be reviewing the book and sharing our full thoughts in our November bonus episode that comes out 11/30. At the end of the episode, Isa shares her thoughts on some of the witchy movies she watched this month, including which one she thinks ultimately reigns supreme, and Sydney shares her thoughts on the upcoming Glee reboot.     Bookish News and Reviews: Hollywood, Ending, Threshing Day, and Dracula | Bonus Book Episode

    We were ambitious this month and our October reading list included: Hollywood Ending by John Green Threshing Day by Rebecca Yarros And the new Audible Original, Bram Stoker's Dracula, starring Ella Purnell, Jonathan Bailey, Aimee Lou Wood, Louis Partridge, David Jonsson, and Maggie Gyllenhaal We share our thoughts on Fourth Wing and whether Threshing Day lived up to the hype, but if you want to hear our thoughts on the casting news, check out last movie episode, Sense and Sensibility | The Most Romantic Movie of the Year?! Dracula is not quite our typical read, but we took a break from our romance books to give gothic horror a try, and we were not disappointed! If you’re looking for something spooky to get ready for Halloween, this is for you! We chat about the cast, how the story has evolved over time, the history and cultural impact of Dracula, and our limits when it comes to the horror genre.  And we end our episode reviewing John Green’s Adult Novel Debut, Hollywood Ending. This story was equally thoughtful, nuanced, romantic, and contemplative. It’s a love story to movies, but also an expose as it reveals what can happen behind the scenes of making and promoting them.     Sense and Sensibility | The Most Romantic Movie of the Year?!

    The highly-anticipated Sense and Sensibility adaptation starring Daisy Edgar-Jones is finally here! As major fans of the 2005 Pride and Prejudice, as well as the 2020 Emma, we were very curious to finally see this movie. It definitely lived up to the hype in some ways, but not EVERY way. Although we both failed at reading the book (hehe), we did both watch the 1995 version so that we could dissect which adaptation reigns supreme.     Love of Your Life Review | Is It a Romance Movie Worth Watching?

    Another Prime romance movie?! We are being FED. But… this one might be a little divisive. 👀 Love of Your Life is a romantic drama that takes on a LOT, and we have some thoughts on whether or not it pulls it all off. From falling in love to COVID-19 and grief, this movie tells a very emotional story. There were plenty of aspects we enjoyed, but a few that we think could’ve been handled better. We reallyyyy want to hear your thoughts on this one because we have a feeling some viewers will deeply resonate with it, while others might be left disappointed.     Bonus Book Episode | A Fortnight to Forever & Author Interview with Alycia E. Anderson

    After a long hiatus, we are FINALLY reviewing another romantasy! In "A Fortnight to Forever" by Alycia E. Anderson, Quinn has been cursed by a jealous prince to sleep for 100 years at a time; she is awoken once a century for only two weeks, during which she must find someone to aid on a quest. Only true love can break the curse - but two weeks has never been enough time to fall in love... Mav is an ex-knight with a ruined reputation. But somewhere between Quinn aiding him and Mav aiding her, they begin to find themselves tethered together by more than just a magic spell. This book had lovable characters, whimsical magic, and above all, an excruciatingly slow burn of a love story (just how we like it). And the best part is, we got to hear from the author herself!     The Love Hypothesis | The Highly Anticipated Ali Hazelwood Adaptation

    At long last, The Love Hypothesis has arrived! After months of Lili Reinhart doing the absolute MOST to hype us up for this movie, we have finally seen it with our own eyes. Despite being lukewarm fans of the book, we were super excited for this movie, and thankfully, it did not disappoint. We hope you enjoy our full review, including a thorough breakdown of THAT scene.
