WINNING CAN WEAR YOU OUT TOO

WINNING CAN WEAR YOU OUT TOO Everybody understands the need to recover after a loss. But what happens when the thing that drains you is the very thing you prayed for? The contract came through. The business grew. The promotion happened. The event was successful. The opportunity opened. The prayer was answered. You won. But winning creates its own weight. In this episode of Afternoon Praise, Demetrius L. Brown explores something leaders, entrepreneurs, builders, and even people of faith can easily overlook: getting the victory and having the capacity to carry the victory are two different things. Jesus told His disciples in Mark 6:31, “Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while.” They weren't being prepared to quit. They were being prepared to continue. We'll look at what Scripture, leadership, business growth, and performance research teach us about sustaining success without allowing the success to consume the person carrying it. One of the biggest questions we'll wrestle with is: “Once you get the win, do you have the capacity to carry what the win creates?” Because the system that produced your win is not automatically the system that can sustain what the win created. We'll also walk through the Business Point Guard Post-Win Audit: What did the win cost? What did the win expose? What did the win create? What must change before we do it again? Are we positioned to do another one well? Winning the possession is not the same as knowing how to manage the game. Learn how to carry a win. YOU CAN’T BUILD RUNNING ON EMPTY

YOU CAN’T BUILD RUNNING ON EMPTY You can be called, committed, motivated, productive, and faithful—and still become depleted. On this episode of Afternoon Praise, Demetrius L. Brown challenges the idea that exhaustion always means you’ve lost your motivation. Sometimes the vision is still right, the assignment is still right, and your commitment is still there. What needs attention is the person carrying it. Using Elijah’s journey from the victory at Mount Carmel to the exhaustion of 1 Kings 19, we look at what happens when responsibility, pressure, leadership, and constant execution begin exceeding our capacity to recover. We also explore the difference between commitment and capacity, why productivity can hide depletion, the cost of becoming the bottleneck in everything you build, and why even the point guard has to come to the bench. “You can’t keep calling plays for everybody else while never coming to the bench yourself.” This isn’t about quitting. It’s about learning how to recover without losing your commitment to the game. Because championships aren’t won by people who never get tired. They’re won by people who know how to recover, adjust, and get back on the floor. Main Scripture: Isaiah 40:31 (KJV) “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Read the full Afternoon Praise article: You Can’t Build Running on Empty Subscribe and stay connected for more Afternoon Praise, faith, leadership, business, purpose, and practical conversations designed to help you build what God placed in your hands—without destroying the person He called to carry it. #AfternoonPraise #WayvveRadio #BusinessPointGuard #SustainingTheBuild #FaithAndBusiness #Leadership #Purpose #YouCantBuildRunningOnEmpty

You will never be what you haven't built.

What if the only thing standing between you and your future isn't opportunity—but preparation? Most people spend their lives praying for the house while neglecting the field. We ask God for promotion, influence, greater responsibility, and increase, but have we built the character, competence, and capacity to sustain what we're asking Him to give us? In this Triumph Tuesday episode of Afternoon Praise, Demetrius L. Brown, The Business Point Guard, explores one of the most overlooked principles of personal and spiritual growth: You will never be what you haven't built. Using Proverbs 24:27 (KJV) as the foundation, this message reveals why becoming isn't an event—it's a construction process. Through the lives of David, practical leadership lessons, and real-world business applications, you'll discover why discipline is building something far greater than success—it is building you. Why opportunity reveals preparation—it doesn't create it.The difference between vision and construction. Why confidence always follows competence. The Blueprint of Becoming framework. Why character must be built before visibility. How to prepare for the future God has placed in your heart.Key Scripture:📖 Proverbs 24:27 (KJV) "Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house."
