Pull up a chair for a proper folklore conversation. Lucy and Michael are joined by Mark Norman, creator and host of The Folklore Podcast and Founding Curator of The Folklore Library and Archive, and historian Tracey Norman, who has spent years digging into Devon's witchcraft cases. Together they take us into the folklore of Devon and Dartmoor: hauntings, seasonal customs, and the real women accused of witchcraft in Victorian and Edwardian Devon, whose stories sat unread in old newspapers for over a century. About Mark and Tracey Norman Mark Norman is a folklore author and researcher. He created and hosts The Folklore Podcast, is Founding Curator of The Folklore Library and Archive, a council member of The Folklore Society and Recorder of Folklore for the Devonshire Association. Devon folklore at Feast & Fable Feast & Fable, South Devon, 18 to 24 May 2027 If this episode has you dreaming of mysterious Devon, come and join us, with Mark and Tracey, for Feast & Fable, our story-led retreat at Fowlescombe, a regenerative working estate of five hundred organic acres on the edge of Dartmoor. For six nights a small group gathers for Dartmoor folklore and legend, tales from the coast told by our resident storyteller, Morris dancing, slow walks across the moor and food grown and raised on the estate itself. Chef Elly Wentworth leads a masterclass in her own kitchen at Fowlescombe, there is a natural swimming pond for a morning dip, and there are optional trips to the sea at Mothecombe and to Dartmouth for the Mayflower story. The retreat supports WATER: Wild about the Erme River and The Folklore Library and Archive. Places are limited. Find out more and book at insidestorytravel.com, or book a call from the retreat page.
