CRITICAL DAMAGE | The Afterglow Ep. 43 (LIVE)

❤️‍🩹 Sometimes the wounds we refuse to heal become the very things hurting the people we love. You've survived the battle. You've endured the pain. You've learned how to keep moving forward. But what if surviving isn't the same thing as healing? What if the things you've buried, avoided, or convinced yourself you've moved past are still influencing how you love, trust, communicate, and respond to the people closest to you?⚔️ In Episode 43 of The Afterglow,  @jtfollowsjc  and  @TuneThyHeart  are going LIVE to discuss something that affects every one of us:THE IMPORTANCE OF HEALING.Because sometimes the wounds we carry from yesterday become the very things damaging our relationships today.Betrayal can become distrust.Abandonment can become fear.Rejection can become insecurity.Unresolved pain can become anger, bitterness, or emotional withdrawal. And sometimes we become so accustomed to carrying those wounds that we stop recognizing them as wounds. We simply say:"That's just who I am."But what if Jesus wants to heal something we've accepted as part of our identity?🎵 From my upcoming song "Heal":"Sometimes it hurts too much to heal, but through the pain my path has always been revealed."Sometimes the path forward isn't around the pain. It's through it.And healing isn't just about becoming whole ourselves. It's about becoming more capable of loving others the way Jesus has called us to love.📖 PSALM 147:3"He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds."📖 JEREMIAH 30:17"I will give you back your health and heal your wounds," says the LORD.🙏 JOIN THE LIVE CONVERSATIONWe want to hear from you!Have you ever realized that something you thought you'd healed from was still affecting your relationships?Has Jesus brought healing to an area of your life you once thought would never change? What has God taught you through the healing process?Share your thoughts in the live chat or comments. You never need to disclose painful personal experiences to participate.❤️‍🩹 PRAYER REQUESTS & PRAISE REPORTSIf you're carrying something heavy, we'd love to pray for you.Leave a prayer request in the comments or live chat, and let us come alongside you.And if God has brought healing, restoration, or breakthrough into your life, please share your praise report!Your testimony may encourage someone who is still walking through the process.Healing doesn't always happen overnight. Sometimes it involves prayer, forgiveness, repentance, wise counsel, professional support, and time. But you don't have to walk through it alone.🙏 PRAYER REQUESTS & PRAISE REPORTSIf this conversation encouraged you, please like the video, subscribe, hype it and consider giving us a 5 star review on Apple or Spotify and share it with someone who may need this reminder today. If this episode encouraged you, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.🙏 Need prayer? UNCHARTED | The Afterglow Ep. 42

🗺️ Eventually, you reach the edge of your own map. You’ve fought the battles. You’ve learned the lessons.God has exposed things, healed things, taught you things, and matured you.And then one day you realize:“I don’t know what comes next.”Because no matter how much we grow, one thing will always remain true:You don’t know what you don’t know.In Episode 42 of The Afterglow,  @jtfollowsjc  and  @TuneThyHeart  are talking about what happens when following Jesus takes us beyond everything we currently understand. How do you identify a blind spot when the definition of a blind spot is that you can’t see it?How do you keep growing after you’ve just survived an incredibly difficult season? And have we surrounded ourselves with people who sharpen us… or simply people who keep us comfortable?Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance.”And iron sharpening iron creates friction.Sometimes the person who loves us most isn’t the person who always tells us we’re right.Sometimes it’s the person willing to say:“Brother, I don’t think you’re seeing this clearly.”There is absolutely a place for rest after a difficult battle. But there is a difference between resting for the next leg of the journey… and building a house at the rest stop.Maybe yesterday’s victory was never supposed to become today’s complacency.Maybe Jesus is still saying:“Follow Me.”Joshua 3:4 contains an incredible phrase:“…for you have not passed this way before.”That’s uncharted territory. We may not know the terrain. We may not know what God wants to expose next.We may not know what the next season of growth will require. But Jesus does.Maybe maturity isn’t reaching a place where we finally know everything.Maybe maturity is becoming comfortable saying:“I don’t know… but I know Who I’m following.”🙏 PRAYER REQUESTS & PRAISE REPORTSIf this conversation encouraged you, please like the video, subscribe, hype it and consider giving us a 5 star review on Apple or Spotify and share it with someone who may need this reminder today. If this episode encouraged you, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.🙏 Need prayer? Wrong Turn | The Afterglow Ep. 41

🧭 What if you took the wrong turn? What if God had something for your life… but you made the wrong decision? You chose the wrong relationship.Took the wrong job.Ignored the warning.Walked through the wrong door.Disobeyed.Waited too long.Made a decision you wish you could take back. Can you accidentally miss God’s will? And maybe the scarier question:Can you mess up badly enough that you permanently derail what God intended for your life?In Episode 41 of The Afterglow,  @jtfollowsjc  and  @TuneThyHeart  are talking about the fear that so many believers carry—the idea that God’s will is some razor-thin path, and one wrong decision can leave us permanently outside of His plan.Scripture gives us a much bigger picture. Our choices matter.Disobedience is real.Sin has consequences.Wisdom matters. But our mistakes do not suddenly make God powerless.Jonah deliberately ran the opposite direction.Peter denied Jesus three times.Paul and his companions encountered closed doors and divine redirection as they traveled.Again and again, Scripture shows us a God who is capable of correcting, redirecting, restoring, disciplining, redeeming—and continuing to lead.🎮 Maybe you took a wrong turn. That doesn’t mean the journey is over.Maybe the screen doesn’t say:GAME OVER.Maybe it says:RECALCULATING…This week we’re talking about obedience, regret, closed doors, consequences, restoration, learning to recognize God’s direction, and what it means to trust Him when the road looks nothing like we expected. Most importantly, we’re talking about the difference between trusting in our ability to perfectly navigate life…and trusting the God who leads us through it.If this conversation encouraged you, please like the video, subscribe, hype it and consider giving us a 5 star review on Apple or Spotify and share it with someone who may need this reminder today. If this episode encouraged you, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.🙏 Need prayer? Fighting Ghosts | The Afterglow Ep. 40

👻 What if the person you’re fighting isn’t actually the enemy? We live most of our lives reacting to what we can see.Someone hurts us.Someone lashes out.Someone betrays us.Someone pushes exactly the right button. And suddenly, all of our attention is fixed on THEM.But Scripture tells us something enormous:“For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood…” — Ephesians 6:12In Episode 40 of The Afterglow,  @jtfollowsjc  and  @TuneThyHeart  are talking about what it means to LOOK DEEPER.What if someone else’s pain is becoming your offense? What if your offense is becoming anger? What if your anger is becoming division? And what if the battle was never simply about what happened to you. but about what that situation could produce inside of you?We also get deep into forgiveness, why forgiving someone does NOT mean removing healthy boundaries, Elisha’s servant having his eyes opened to the unseen army surrounding him, and why spiritual discernment should ultimately produce greater compassion... not greater suspicion. And then we get into something that completely changes the way we think about spiritual warfare:Maybe love is warfare.Maybe patience is warfare.Maybe forgiveness is warfare.Maybe gentleness is warfare.Maybe self-control is warfare.Maybe praising Jesus when everything feels heavy is warfare. The fruit of the Spirit may not simply be instructions for becoming “nice Christians.”God may be forming us into people who are increasingly difficult for the enemy to manipulate through fear, anger, pride, offense, bitterness, impulse, and division.⚔️ Sometimes the thing directly in front of you is only HALF the battle.Maybe the prayer we need is simply:“Father, open my eyes. Help me see what I’m missing.”If this conversation encouraged you, please like the video, subscribe, hype it and consider giving us a 5 star review on Apple or Spotify and share it with someone who may need this reminder today. If this episode encouraged you, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.🙏 Need prayer? ANYTHING BUT THAT | The Afterglow Ep. 39

What is the ONE thing you would struggle to surrender if Jesus asked you to lay it down?Your career?Your money?Your relationship?Your dream?Your comfort?Your reputation?Your plans for the future? It is easy to tell Jesus, “You can have everything.”Until He touches THAT.In Episode 39 of The Afterglow,  @jtfollowsjc  and  @TuneThyHeart  are talking about surrender... not the version of surrender that sounds good in a worship song, but the kind that actually costs us something.Because sometimes the greatest indicator of what has our heart is not what we are willing to give to God……it is what we are terrified He might ask us to give up.Jesus said:“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”Matthew 6:21That forces every one of us to ask a difficult question:What do I treasure most? And if Jesus asked me to place it completely into His hands, would I?Maybe the thing we’re holding onto isn’t inherently sinful. It could be a relationship, a dream, financial security, success, a ministry, a career, a possession, our reputation, or simply the future we imagined for ourselves. But even a good thing can become an idol when our heart begins saying:“Jesus, You can have anything……but not THAT.”True surrender means trusting God enough to place even the things we love most into His hands. Not because He is cruel. Not because He wants to strip every good thing from our lives. But because nothing He has given us was ever meant to take His place. And sometimes God reveals what we are gripping tightly—not because He wants to destroy it, but because He wants to show us where our trust actually lives. This episode is an invitation to examine our hearts honestly. What am I holding onto? What am I afraid to lose? What am I trying to control? What have I quietly decided God is not allowed to touch? And ultimately…Is Jesus actually Lord over ALL of my life?✝️ If this conversation hits something personal for you, don’t run from that conviction. Bring it before Jesus. Ask Him to reveal anything you have placed above Him and give you the faith to surrender it.If this conversation encouraged you, please like the video, subscribe, hype it and consider giving us a 5 star review on Apple or Spotify and share it with someone who may need this reminder today. If this episode encouraged you, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.🙏 Need prayer? DON’T LOOK DOWN | The Afterglow Ep. 38

There will always be another reason to be afraid.Another headline. Another prediction. Another threat. Another monster waiting somewhere along the climb. But what happens when we stop looking at everything that could go wrong… and fix our eyes on Jesus? In Episode 38 of The Afterglow,  @jtfollowsjc  and  @TuneThyHeart  are talking about fear and how easy it is to become consumed by everything happening around us.Wars. Uncertainty. Technology. Disease. The economy. Predictions about the future. Things happening in our own lives that we simply cannot control. Some of those concerns are real. But there is a difference between recognizing danger and living in fear of it.There is a difference between being informed and being consumed. There is a difference between discernment and dread.Peter was already standing in the middle of the storm when he stepped out of the boat. The wind was already blowing. The waves were already moving. But Peter walked on the water while his eyes were fixed on Jesus. It was when his attention shifted to the storm that fear took over.Maybe sometimes the storm hasn’t gotten bigger.Maybe we’ve just been staring at it too long.Jesus never promised us a life without trouble. He gave us something greater:“In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.”— John 16:33Our hope isn’t that nothing frightening will ever happen. Our hope is Jesus. And when our eyes are fixed on Him, fear may still knock…but it no longer gets to decide how we live.If this conversation encouraged you, please like the video, subscribe, hype it and consider giving us a 5 star review on Apple or Spotify and share it with someone who may need this reminder today. If this episode encouraged you, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.🙏 Need prayer? 🎮 What if the interruption IS the assignment? We spend so much of our lives trying to get past the inconvenience. The difficult coworker. The unexpected conversation. The person who keeps showing up.The plan that suddenly changes. The situation we wish God would simply remove. But what if there’s a mission hiding in the middle of it?In Episode 37 of The Afterglow, we’re talking about learning to recognize the opportunities God places directly in front of us, and becoming sensitive enough to the Holy Spirit to notice when an ordinary moment may be an opportunity to represent Jesus. ✝️Sometimes God is doing something IN us.Sometimes He’s doing something THROUGH us.And sometimes… He’s doing both at the same time. Not every inconvenience is a divine assignment. But instead of immediately asking:“Why is this happening to me?”Maybe sometimes we should be asking:“Holy Spirit, what are You trying to do here?”Because the mission isn’t always somewhere far away.Sometimes it’s across the world.Sometimes it’s across the street.Sometimes it’s across the office.Sometimes it’s inside your own home.Sometimes it’s the person standing right in front of you.And sometimes…the “side quest” we almost rejected was part of the mission all along. 🎮📖 EPHESIANS 2:10“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”What would change about the way you lived tomorrow if you woke up believing you were actually being sent? You’re not just going to work. You’re being sent into a workplace. You’re not merely dealing with another inconvenience. You’re asking whether there’s an opportunity inside it.You’re not merely encountering people. You’re carrying Jesus into encounters with people who may desperately need Him.If this conversation encouraged you, please like the video, subscribe, hype it and consider giving us a 5 star review on Apple or Spotify and share it with someone who may need this reminder today. If this episode encouraged you, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.🙏 Need prayer? LOVE AND DEATH | The Afterglow Ep. 36

What does it really mean to love someone? Not when it’s easy. Not when they agree with us.Not when they’ve earned it.But when loving them actually costs us something.❤️ LOVE AND DEATH is a conversation between  @TuneThyHeart  and  @jtfollowsjc  about the kind of love Jesus calls us to... a love that requires something in us to die.Our pride. Our need to be right. Our resentment. Our selfishness. Our desire to withhold forgiveness. Our instinct to only love the people who love us back.Jesus didn’t simply tell us to love one another. He showed us what love looks like.It serves. It forgives. It sacrifices. It gives. It looks for the good in others. It refuses to participate in hatred, gossip, slander, and public humiliation. And sometimes, it chooses to love someone even when everything in our flesh is telling us not to.That kind of love requires death to self. And maybe that’s one of the reasons genuine Christlike love can be so difficult. It’s easy to talk about loving people. It’s much harder to forgive someone who hurt you. It’s harder to show kindness when there’s nothing in it for you. It’s harder to give when it actually costs you something. It’s harder to hope for restoration when the world would rather see someone destroyed. And it’s harder to see the best in someone when everyone around you is pointing out their worst. But Jesus didn’t say the world would recognize His disciples by how much truth they knew, how many arguments they won, or how effectively they exposed everyone else.He said they would know us by our love.So this episode is an invitation to examine ourselves:Are we actually loving people the way Jesus loved us?When was the last time we gave something meaningful to someone who could do absolutely nothing for us in return? When was the last time we forgave when we had every worldly reason to hold onto the offense? When was the last time we chose mercy over pride? When was the last time our love actually cost us something?Because following Jesus isn’t simply about knowing what He taught. It’s about becoming more like Him.And sometimes…for His love to become more visible in us,something in us has to die.If this conversation encouraged you, please like the video, subscribe, hype it and consider giving us a 5 star review on Apple or Spotify and share it with someone who may need this reminder today. If this episode encouraged you, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.🙏 Need prayer?
