    What Grinds Our Gears: BMW Bros, Bad Drivers & Fake Influencers

    Mike & Tom are back in the newly updated Oh Great, This Show studio, and instead of celebrating it like normal adults, they decide to spend the episode discussing everything currently irritating them. First up: fake humility. Why do successful people—and especially successful YouTubers—insist on pretending they're broke? If you're making millions and buying supercars, can we all just admit you're doing fine? Mike would actually prefer you flex honestly. That naturally turns into people who judge how other men dress, restaurant dress codes, expensive steakhouses and Mike's belief that achieving success should apparently earn you the right to wear whatever you want to dinner. Then we enter the automotive portion of the rage. Why has the BMW 3 Series become the new clout car? Mike & Tom try to understand why broccoli-haired teenagers are more excited about burble-tuned BMWs than actual exotic cars, whether the Porsche GT3 RS has become an Instagram personality trait, and why stock wheels are somehow cool now. From there, society continues collapsing. Apparently there's now an entire online world built around “LARPing” success—fake supercar keys, fake watches, fake cash, fake offices and courses teaching people how to stand next to somebody else's Lamborghini and pretend it's theirs. Mike & Tom have questions. Then Facebook Marketplace enters the chat: lowballers who don't actually have the money, random strangers messaging “nice car,” Meta's terrible seller tools and people apparently using Marketplace as a social network. Finally, David gets his moment and explains why drivers who stop when they DON'T have a stop sign are actually making traffic more dangerous. That opens the door to bad drivers, road rage, dash-cam accidents and the universal truth that trying to be “nice” in traffic often makes everything worse. It's a full What Grinds Our Gears episode.     The Truth About Performance Shops with SS Fabrication

    This week, Mike & Tom are joined by John Gaylord of SS Fabrication for what starts as a conversation about custom automotive fabrication and quickly becomes group therapy for anyone who has ever worked in the performance car industry. John grew up around Subarus, moved to Florida, started doing mobile fabrication and eventually turned that hustle into SS Fabrication, where he now builds handmade performance and turbo components. But getting there meant welding in people's driveways, learning TIG welding, dealing with impossible customers and discovering one of the most important lessons in business: Sometimes you should just say no. We get into Subaru WRX and STI builds, engine failures, $15,000–$20,000 rebuilds, oversized turbos, supporting mods, custom exhausts, performance-shop customers, internet car culture, RPF1s, Hellcats, Supras, Miatas, BMWs, turbo kits and why spending $30,000 on an engine while refusing to buy a $300 radiator might not be the financial masterclass you think it is. Mike also tells one of his ultimate performance-shop horror stories: a customer arrives with a dead Subaru, can't afford the repair, eventually gets the car rebuilt, has a minor issue corrected at the shop's expense—and somehow the situation ends with the customer's mother allegedly threatening Mike over a roughly $149 towing bill. Normal business stuff. John explains how SS Fabrication grew without spending money on advertising, why he's moving away from working directly on customer cars, and why handmade Subaru turbo parts have become such an opportunity. Then we get into the uncomfortable question: Are expensive name-brand performance parts actually better?     The Car Market Is Getting WEIRD | Tesla, Corvette Z06 & Car Scams

    It's a CAR EPISODE! Which means Mike & Tom have approximately 14 automotive topics prepared and will somehow stay focused on none of them. First, it's officially the end of an era: Mike's last Subaru is gone. From there, we get into the Karmann Ghia project, Maserati MC20 attention, old-school NuFinish commercials and Mike's shocking realization that he absolutely LOVES his new Tesla Model 3. That leads to the important question nobody asked: Could Tesla-style self-driving technology be retrofitted into old cars? Mike has ideas. Elon, apparently we're waiting for your call. Then things get expensive. Mike is considering replacing the Fiat with a C7 Corvette Z06, but the yellow example they found has questionable modifications, an interesting history and a dealership seemingly uninterested in actually selling it. That opens the floodgates to horrible dealership experiences, missing second keys, Tesla key protection, Mike's Hellcat red-key nightmare and why buying a car somehow keeps becoming harder.     Mike and Tom are flying solo this week, which means there is absolutely nobody in the room qualified to stop an innocent conversation about gambling YouTubers from becoming a 30-minute argument about casino bros wearing crossbody bags. Mike presents his theory that gambling social media now has three distinct categories: traditional casino channels, attractive-girls-playing-slots channels, and the increasingly powerful world of “bro gambling.” Naturally, this leads to Young Hot Slots, Vegas Matt, Lady Luck, baccarat, bubble craps, streetwear, casino etiquette, $25 bets celebrated like Super Bowl wins, and Mike demanding to know why nine grown men need to surround one baccarat player. Tom's response is essentially: Why do you care this much? And that's where everything falls apart. This week on Oh Great, This Show, we recap a road trip involving cancelled plans, U-Haul reservations that apparently mean nothing, Allegiant Airlines, airport chaos, a damaged Penske trailer, Mike's in-laws, two random teenagers recruited to help push a classic VW onto a trailer and a 14-hour overnight drive back to Florida. Somewhere in the middle, the episode becomes surprisingly philosophical as Mike explains why throwing away a dead loved one's possessions bothers him so much—and why you should ask the people you love which belongings and memories actually matter to them before it's too late. Don't worry. It doesn't stay wholesome for long.
