The Legacy Leaders: Living, Giving, and Passing On What Matters

What does true wealth look like in the later stages of life?  In this episode the Pinnacle Wealth team unpacks the final life stage in the True Wealth framework: the Legacy Leaders, generally those age 76 and beyond.  This stage is often associated with leaving a legacy, but the conversation challenges the idea that legacy is simply about the money, property, or possessions someone leaves behind. This explores the unique perspective that comes with decades of life experience and why those in the Legacy Leader stage still have so much to contribute. They discuss the importance of sharing stories, communicating appreciation while there is still time, and passing emotional and spiritual capital to the next generation. The conversation also offers an important challenge to younger generations: don't wait until it's too late to ask questions, hear stories, and learn from the people who came before you.  In This Episode  What defines the Legacy Leader stage and why it is about more than leaving an inheritance Why the wisdom of older generations is one of the most valuable forms of legacy The importance of saying the things you want loved ones to know while there is still time Why legacy should be lived throughout every stage of life, not created at the end The three forms of capital that can be passed to the next generation: financial, emotional, and spiritual How relationships with clients can become some of the most meaningful parts of a financial advisor's work Why writing a legacy letter can preserve memories, values, encouragement, and personal stories Legacy Is More Than What You Leave Behind  It's a season of reflection, contribution, perspective, and influence.  True legacy isn't simply something that is handed down after someone is gone. It is something that can be intentionally lived out every day.  The question isn't only, "What will I leave behind?"  Hosts and Senior Wealth Advisors:  Kevin Engbers, CFP®, CEO & Founder  Ryan Ovenden, CFP®, CKA®, Chief Planning Officer Nik Aamlid, CFP®, CAP®, CKA®, COO Watch or listen to the True Wealth Podcast on YouTube, Spotify, or Apple Podcasts.  YouTube Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLabQdKOSXuCNiKgVZINvFi8TNaFLBE9sI  Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5Q2PArlpQZO76D6m260ZOp  Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/true-wealth-podcast/id1862811242  Pinnacle Wealth: https://www.TrueWealthPodcast.com

The Leaper Stage of Life: From Career Identity to Lasting Purpose

What happens when your career is no longer the primary thing that defines you?  For many people between the ages of 60 and 75, life enters a season of transition unlike any before. Old Words, New Life: Dan LaRock on the Faith and Wisdom Passed Down Through Generations

In this episode of the True Wealth Podcast, we welcome back Dan LaRock for a deeply meaningful conversation centered around his book, Grandpa’s Gift, and the timeless wisdom passed down from his grandfather. The discussion explores how lessons rooted in faith, history, and personal experience can shape a more purposeful and grounded life today.  Dan shares the origin story behind Grandpa’s Gift, which was inspired by a collection of sermons and writings from his grandfather, a Methodist minister. Although these messages were originally delivered decades ago, Dan reflects on how revisiting them later in life brought a renewed sense of clarity and direction. What once felt distant and difficult to grasp became deeply personal and transformative as he matured, revealing truths that resonated with his everyday life, relationships, and decisions.  The episode also introduces several key principles from the book, including the idea of “giving the Heisman” to the world’s expectations—choosing not to be driven solely by status, success, or external validation. Instead, Dan highlights the importance of seeking a higher purpose, being bold in one’s beliefs, and living out faith through daily interactions. This includes finding love in every relationship and becoming a living example of that love in both personal and professional environments.  Ultimately, this episode serves as a powerful reminder that true wealth is found in aligning one’s life with enduring truths. By embracing wisdom from the past, living with intention, and applying faith in everyday interactions, individuals can experience a deeper sense of peace, purpose, and fulfillment that transcends temporary success.    Highlights from the Episode  Grandpa’s Gift was inspired by decades-old sermons that continue to provide relevant, life-changing wisdom today. Old wisdom remains powerful and applicable, even as culture and generations evolve. Giving the “Heisman” to the world means rejecting external pressures of success, status, and validation. True fulfillment is not found in financial success or achievements, but in purpose, belonging, and faith. Understanding history and scripture provides a stronger foundation for navigating modern life. Love should be expressed intentionally in every relationship, serving as a reflection of one’s beliefs. Investing in people and experiences creates deeper, lasting joy compared to material success.  Listen on:  Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLabQdKOSXuCNiKgVZINvFi8TNaFLBE9sI  Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5Q2PArlpQZO76D6m260ZOp  Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/true-wealth-podcast/id1862811242  Pinnacle Wealth: https://www.pinnaclewealth.com/true-wealth-podcast/  Host/Guest  Kevin Engbers CFP®, Senior Wealth Advisor, CEO & Founder  Nik Aamlid CFP®, CAP®, CKA®, Senior Wealth Advisor  Dan LaRock, Co-Founder of Rock Ranch and Author of “Grandpa’s Gift”

Thriving in Love & Money: What Couples Are Really Arguing About with Researcher Shaunti Feldhahn

Why do couples with healthy finances still argue about money?  In this episode of the True Wealth Podcast, we sit down with Shaunti Feldhahn, best-selling author, popular speaker, and nationally-renowned social researcher, to explore the surprising findings behind her research on marriage, communication and money.  According to Shaunti's research, most financial disagreements have very little to do with dollars, budgets, or investment accounts. Instead, they are often driven by deeper emotional factors such as security, trust, fear, expectations, and the assumptions each person brings into a relationship.  Drawing from years of studying thriving couples, Shaunti explains why financial conversations can become emotionally charged, how misunderstandings often fuel conflict, and what couples can do to create greater unity around their finances.  The conversation reveals that successful financial partnerships are rarely built on perfect budgets or flawless planning. They're built on understanding, communication and a willingness to recognize the emotional realities that often exist beneath the surface of money discussions.  Whether you are newly married, preparing for marriage, or simply looking to improve communication with your spouse, this episode offers practical insights that can strengthen both your relationship and your financial life.  Highlights from the Episode  Why most financial arguments are not actually about money The emotional triggers behind money conflicts How assumptions create tension between spouses What Shaunti's research reveals about thriving couples The role of communication in financial harmony Practical ways to improve money conversations Building unity around shared financial goals  Listen Now  You can listen to this episode on your preferred platform:  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLabQdKOSXuCNiKgVZINvFi8TNaFLBE9sI  Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5Q2PArlpQZO76D6m260ZOp  Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/true-wealth-podcast/id1862811242  Pinnacle Wealth: https://www.TrueWealthPodcast.com  Hosts:   Kevin Engbers, CFP®, Senior Wealth Advisor, CEO & Founder  Ryan Ovenden, CFP®, CKA®, Senior Wealth Advisor, CPO  Guest:   Shaunti Feldhahn, Best-Selling Author, Popular Speaker & Nationally-Renowned Social Researcher

What's On Your Mind When You're Unsure The Plane Will Land: Author Joe Stehlin on Purpose & Calling

A Story of Calling, Purpose, and Perspective  What would cross your mind if you weren't sure your plane was going to land safely?  For Joseph Stehlin, that moment became one of the most clarifying experiences of his life. Sitting with genuine uncertainty about whether he would survive, his thoughts didn't go where he expected. They went straight to what actually mattered — faith, relationships, purpose, and whether he was living the life he was called to live.  In this episode of the True Wealth Podcast, Nik Aamlid and Kevin Engbers sit down with Joe to unpack that moment and the larger journey behind his book Hunted and Called. Joe shares how adversity, fear, and unexpected circumstances can strip away the noise and reveal what you're actually built for.  The conversation explores the difference between external success and internal fulfillment — and why so many people spend years chasing one while neglecting the other. Joe reflects on the moments that challenged his identity, the importance of listening for God's direction, and the role of relationships and community in navigating life's hardest seasons.  Ultimately this episode is a reminder that purpose is often discovered not in spite of the experiences we wouldn't have chosen, but because of them.  Highlights from the Episode  The terrifying flight experience that forced Joe to confront what truly matters The journey behind Hunted and Called and what it took to write it The difference between chasing success and living with true fulfillment How adversity shapes purpose and perspective in ways comfort never could The role of faith in decision-making and leadership Why relationships and community matter most during difficult seasons What it looks like to live with clarity and respond faithfully to your calling  Listen Now  You can listen to the latest episode of the True Wealth Podcast on your preferred platform:  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLabQdKOSXuCNiKgVZINvFi8TNaFLBE9sI Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5Q2PArlpQZO76D6m260ZOp Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/true-wealth-podcast/id1862811242 Pinnacle Wealth: https://www.TrueWealthPodcast.com  Hosts:   Nik Aamlid, CFP®, CAP®, CKA®, Senior Wealth Advisor and COO  Kevin Engbers, CFP®, Senior Wealth Advisor, CEO & Founder  Guest: Joseph Stehlin, Author of “Hunted and Called”

Loneliness No One Talks About: Leadership, Isolation and the Relationships That Keep You Grounded

In this episode of the True Wealth Podcast, Senor Wealth Advisors Kevin Engbers and Nik Aamlid sit down with Tom Henderson, founder of RESGEN, to explore one of the least talked about realities of leadership: the isolation that can quietly grow alongside outward achievement.  Tom brings a candid, grounded perspective on what it means to build a life and career of genuine depth — not just momentum. The conversation centers around a simple but powerful idea: that the people you allow to speak truth into your life matter far more than the size of your network or the strength of your reputation.  A key theme throughout the episode is what Tom calls a "band of brothers" — a small, trusted circle of people who challenge you, walk alongside you, and refuse to let you drift. In a world that rewards hype and image-driven leadership, Tom makes the case that this kind of honest, accountable relationship is increasingly rare and increasingly necessary.  The conversation also examines how ambition, if left unchecked, can quietly create distance from the people and connections that matter most — even when everything on the outside looks like success. Leadership without that relational depth, Tom suggests, is a setup for isolation no title or achievement can fix.  Ultimately, this episode is a reminder that true wealth isn't only reflected in business growth or financial achievement. It's also found in the strength of the relationships shaping your life, your leadership, and your legacy.  Highlights from the Episode  Why the people who challenge you are more valuable than the people who celebrate you What a real "band of brothers" looks like in leadership and life How ambition can quietly create distance from meaningful connection The difference between image-driven leadership and leadership rooted in trust and accountability Why true wealth includes the people walking through life with you  Listen Now  You can listen to Episode 11 of the True Wealth Podcast on your preferred platform:  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLabQdKOSXuCNiKgVZINvFi8TNaFLBE9sI  Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5Q2PArlpQZO76D6m260ZOp  Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/true-wealth-podcast/id1862811242  Pinnacle Wealth: https://www.TrueWealthPodcast.com  Hosts: Kevin Engbers, CFP®, Senior Wealth Advisor, CEO & Founder, and Nik Aamlid CFP®, CKA®, CAP®, Senior Wealth Advisor, COO Guest: Tom Henderson, RESGEN
