    A new brood of spudlings peeps out from the ground in Acorn Grove. These five little spudlings, who are very hungry, set off in search of food. After tasting everything without success, they realize that their favorite food, the Stinky leaves, can only be found in the Smelly Slimy Swamps. But does this mean they must live all alone, far from all their friends in Acorn Grove? Everyone is captivated by her story and they decide to venture there on a holiday. Yet amongst the general excitement, some remain concerned. The wolfhops, guardians of the forest, fear it might be a dangerous place so they set off to explore the beach before everyone else arrives. For many generations, these whimsical creatures have stayed hidden from the frightening inhabitants of the outside world who, from time to time, come to steal their tasty fizzy orange juice-flavoured water. But when the Hoppybrook River bursts its banks in a sudden flood, the carrotrouts find themselves swept into every den in Acorn Grove, stirring up a whirl of unexpected adventures.
