Dial Tone Podcast

Dial Tone Podcast

Dial Tone is a podcast about the conversations that only happen when the call goes long. We’re Anthony and Taco. Two unlikely friends who met years ago and somehow never hung up. We’ve spent thousands of hours on the phone together. Late nights. Early mornings. Long drives. Bored days. Heavy days. Just talking through life in real time. This podcast is an extension of those calls. Every episode is a raw, honest, and often hilarious conversation about anything and everything. One minute we’re talking about pooping in a bucket. Next minute we’re unpacking masculinity, relationships, mental health, ambition, failure, and the stuff people usually only admit to their closest friend. There’s no script. No agenda. No filters. Just two friends on the line saying what most people think but don’t say out loud. Dial Tone is a long-form conversation podcast about friendship, modern masculinity, growing up, screwing up, and trying to figure things out as you go. It’s part therapy, part comedy, part late-night phone call you didn’t realize you needed. If you’ve ever lost track of time on a call that turned into real talk, laughs, and unexpected clarity, you’re already in the right place. Stay on the line. Email us at dialtonepod@gmail.com

    Episode 42: The Re Return

Episode 42 starts off strong when we realize we just recorded half an episode without the camera actually recording. So naturally, we run the whole thing back and somehow make it even more unhinged the second time. Ant recaps shooting his first wedding in a while, a last minute Lensrentals disaster that somehow turned into great customer service, and the feeling of stepping back behind the camera after being away from it. That turns into a bigger conversation about photography, creative confidence, making mistakes, and realizing that even photographers like Peter McKinnon still get nervous when it actually matters. From there, we get into an upcoming photography trip to Kentucky, why the Atlanta airport is hell on earth, rediscovering how useful libraries actually are, getting back into reading with an e-reader and Libby, Dan Brown, modding a Nintendo 3DS, Pokémon, post-surgery life, and way more information about bowel movements than anybody asked for. Basically, a normal episode of Dial Tone. Episode 39: First Day Out

Anthony is finally out of the hospital, and this week on the Dial Tone Podcast, we’re getting the full story. What started as severe stomach pain turned into an ER visit, emergency surgery, a week-long hospital stay, an NG tube from hell, days without food or water, and enough pain medication to make Anthony understand why people enjoy narcotics a little too much. Taco fills in the parts Anthony barely remembers, including what happened before surgery, conversations with the surgeon, and watching his friend get a tube shoved through his nose and into his stomach. We get into the strange experience of going under anesthesia for the first time, finally being allowed to eat again, hospital bills, recovery after abdominal surgery, and the moment a single fart became one of the biggest accomplishments of Anthony’s life. Of course, this is still Dial Tone, so the conversation eventually spirals into spending hundreds of dollars on coffee equipment from a hospital bed, homemade coffee setups, an obsession with houseplants, working from home, negotiating for lockers on Facebook Marketplace, and Taco revealing that he once practiced counting backward before surgery because he wanted to wake up and finish the countdown. It’s a chaotic return episode filled with hospital stories, dark humor, friendship, recovery, surgery stories, anesthesia, questionable decisions, and the kind of conversations that could only happen on Dial Tone.
