Attachments & Aspects: Understanding What Triggers Us

Attachments & Aspects: Understanding What Triggers Us What if every time you felt triggered, it was actually an invitation? In this episode, Renske and B explore one of the most transformative concepts in their inner work — aspects and attachments — and how understanding them can shift you from feeling like a victim of your emotions to living from a place of real empowerment. Renske breaks down what aspects actually are, why our emotions are like text messages from our soul, and how the breath is the gateway to the heart space where real healing happens. B shares how visualising that energetic cord — the one we hook onto other people’s behaviour — has been one of the most freeing realisations of her journey. Together they dive into: ✨ What aspects and attachments are — and how to know when one is stepping forward ✨ Why emotions aren’t something to push away, but to welcome and listen to ✨ The spiral of growth — why we revisit similar triggers, just with deeper awareness ✨ How to work with an aspect lovingly rather than forcing it to shift ✨ Why group work creates such a powerful container for this healing ✨ The ego mind as a gift — not the enemy — and what it means to let spirit take the wheel Plus joy sparks — B finds deep gratitude in an early morning woodland walk, and Renske shares two beautiful moments of watching her family naturally weave meditation and self-care into their everyday life. 💛 If you’ve ever found yourself cycling through the same triggers and wondering why, this episode is for you. B’s Journey: From Depression and Loneliness to Joy and Belonging

B’s Journey: From Loneliness to Belonging In this deeply personal episode, Renske sits down with B to trace her spiritual journey — from years of quietly struggling, feeling like the odd one out, to the profound inner transformation she’s experienced through the Master’s Way. B opens up honestly about what life looked like before — cycling through the same triggers, feeling disconnected despite having people all around her, and spending years trying to control outcomes as a way of feeling safe. And then, slowly, everything began to shift. Together they explore: ✨ How B moved from loneliness and disconnection to a deep sense of belonging ✨ Why doing the inner work inevitably changes the relationships around you ✨ The surprising shift in B’s relationship with her father — and what radical acceptance really feels like ✨ Learning to observe triggers with curiosity instead of judgment ✨ Trusting divine timing rather than forcing outcomes ✨ How connection through the heart transcends physical distance B also shares something rarely spoken aloud — there were years she didn’t want to be here. And it’s from that place that she speaks with such conviction: if she can shift from that to this, anyone can. Plus joy sparks — Renske reflects on witnessing a student’s beautiful three-year transformation, and B shares a weekend with her oldest friend, a soul connection that has only deepened through this shared journey. 💛 If you’re curious about the Master’s Way or simply feel called to go deeper within yourself, this episode is for you. People Pleasing: Why We Do It and How to Stop

Join our Joy Circle here: https://www.schoolofjoypodcast.com/join-our-join-circle Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/schoolofjoypodcast/ Episode 5 is all about people pleasing — why it happens, how it shows up, and how we can start to shift it. We share our own experiences as lifelong, “hardcore” people pleasers, and explore the deeper root beneath the behaviour: the drive to be accepted (and feel safe) can lead us to sacrifice our authenticity, ignore our needs, and lose track of our boundaries. We talk about how people pleasing often leaves a residue — resentment, bitterness, passive-aggression — because we’re giving from obligation rather than love. Renske unpacks how people pleasing can make boundaries feel vague or impossible, especially when you’ve spent years focused on keeping the peace outside of yourself. She shares how this played out in relationships, and a powerful lesson from family life and becoming a “bonus mum” — learning to balance everyone else’s needs without disappearing in the process. We also share practical tools that help us come back to ourselves: The “Four A’s” check-in: where am I seeking acceptance, acknowledgement, appreciation, or approval?Heart-centred stillness: using meditation (and journaling) to bring unconscious patterns into awareness.Body wisdom + capacity: slowing down, sensing how a “yes” or “no” lands in the body, and asking: do I actually have the capacity for this right now? As always, we finish with our Joy Sparks — small, ordinary moments that light us up — and a short closing breath to anchor back into the body.
