    Awakening-Slam Poetry

“Awakening”By Matt Hunnicutt We ride a rock through infinite darkat sixty-seven thousand miles per hourand our biggest problem todaywas a commentfrom a cowardhiding behind a screenwith too much power. We breathe without thinking.Hearts beat without asking. The universe spent fourteen billion yearsbuilding this moment —and we spent itdoom-tasking. Wake up to fear.Eat fear for lunch.Scroll through fear at midnightwondering why we can't sleep —then fear tells us the insomniawill kill us tooand we believe itand we buy the pilland we say thank youand we do it again tomorrow — because somewhere someone figured outthat a frightened peopleis ais a purchased peopleand fearsold by the hourpays betterthan the truthever could. Let that land. Children — small and soft and open —hand their whole worldto the ones who are supposedto be the world for themand some of those handswere not hands —they were clawssold in human malls — and we looked awaynot because we didn't see itbut because someone made the looking awayfeel likethe reasonable thing — and that comfortthat smalldeliberateengineeredcomfort — cost us everything. Two nations at warwith the same arms dealer's numbersaved in their contacts —two flagstwo godsone invoice —and while the ground swallowswhole neighborhoodsthat never made the newsthey've got us in a cage matchover what to call each other —fighting over the furniturewhile somebody elseis quietlysigning the deedto the house. We traded the sacred for the convenient.Traded the eternal for the instant.Handed marriage to the lawyerslove to the algorithmlust to a fiber optic linethat runs straight to the bedroomand calls itself intimacy — and we hit acceptwithout readinga single wordof what we agreed to. And the hollow feeling that moved in after —the one that sits in your chestat two in the morning —they gave that a clinical nameput it in a commercialand sold you something for itduring the six o'clock news — right between the warsand the weather. Pause. But here —here is what gets buriedunder all of it — Stars so ancientthat the light touching your eyesright nowleft homebefore humanshad a wordfor light. A body that heals itselfwithout a manual.A planet that grows foodfrom nothing but dirtand rainand time. A child's laugh —one real laugh —that resets somethingdeep in your chestyou didn't even knowwas broken. This moment. This breath. This one.Is the thingthey have been workingaround the clockin shiftsto make sureyou are too distractedto feel. And it has been here the whole time. I'm not here to add to the noise.I'm not here to tell you the sky is falling —they've got enough people on payrollfor that. I'm here to tell youthe sky is staggeringif you'll stop looking downlong enoughto look up. The fog you're breathingis not weather —it's manufactured. And the thing that terrifies them mostisn't a revolution —isn't a march —isn't a movement — it's one personwho finally sees itputs the phone downlooks at the people they lovelooks at that impossible sky — and says — “I see what you're doing. And I refuse.” That's where it all starts. That's not a revolution. That's not a movement. That's an awakening. That is what I'm calling for.

    We Are Not Meat!

Pornography is no longer hiding in the shadows. It is in our phones. Our algorithms. Our entertainment. Our social feeds. Our loneliness. Our silence. In this episode of In the Line of Faith, Matt Hunnicutt speaks honestly about how modern culture has normalized lust, monetized loneliness, and turned human beings into products for consumption. This is not just about men. This is not just about women. And this is not just about children. This is about what happens when intimacy becomes performance…when image-bearers become content…and when people slowly lose the ability to truly see one another. Topics discussed:• pornography addiction• emotional and spiritual desensitization• dopamine and overstimulation• AI-generated explicit images & deepfakes• shame, secrecy, and hidden struggles• relationships and counterfeit intimacy• social media exposure and normalization• grace, conviction, and restoration through Christ Key statistics discussed:• Roughly 78% of men report consuming pornography to some extent• Nearly 40% of women report viewing pornography as well• Average age of first exposure is approximately 11–12 years old• More than half of teenagers who encountered pornography reported accidental exposure• Major adult websites receive billions of visits monthly This episode is not about condemnation. It is about awareness.Truth.Conviction.And hope. Because no matter how trapped someone feels, they are not beyond the reach of God. Scriptures for fighting lust, temptation, shame, and renewing the mind: “Flee sexual immorality.”— 1 Corinthians 6:18 “I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes.”— Psalm 101:3 “Create in me a clean heart, O God.”— Psalm 51:10 “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.”— James 5:16 “Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”— Galatians 5:16 “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”— Romans 12:2 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”— Psalm 34:18 Pornography does not just affect sexuality. It affects vision. And maybe the real battle is not merely what we are looking at… but whether we still know how to see. Episode: We Are Not Meat
