THE GOD OF COVENANT — DON'T BREAK WHAT GOD HAS CALLED YOU TO HONOR

Deuteronomy 7:9 (KJV) “Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.” Church, one thing we must understand about God is that He is not just a God who makes promises. He is a God who keeps covenant. People may change their minds, withdraw their love, or forget what they promised, but God is faithful to His Word. Numbers 23:19 reminds us that God is not a man that He should lie. But here's something we need to examine: We love to remind God of His promises, but are we just as committed to honoring Him with our obedience? We want covenant blessings, but covenant relationship also calls for covenant faithfulness. Jesus said in John 14:15, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” See, covenant isn't just about what we can receive from God. It's about belonging to Him, walking with Him, trusting Him, and surrendering our will to His. And we must be careful not to treat covenant like a convenience—something we honor when life is comfortable and neglect when obedience becomes costly. Here's the nugget: You cannot claim to treasure the covenant while continually disregarding the One who established it. And understand this: Our faithfulness does not purchase God's love, and our failures do not automatically cancel His faithfulness. Under the new covenant, our hope rests in Jesus Christ, whose blood established that covenant (Luke 22:20). When we stumble, we don't run away from God. We repent and return to Him. Hebrews 10:23 (KJV) “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)” So today, let's examine our hearts. Are we honoring God only with our mouths, or are we honoring Him with our lives?

It Might Be Your Time, But It Might Not Be Your Turn

There are seasons when you can feel something changing. You know you have grown. You know God has been preparing you. You can sense that what you have prayed for is getting closer—and still, the door does not open. That tension can be painful. Because sometimes it really is your time, but that does not necessarily mean it is your turn yet. In this episode of Towel & Basin Society, we have an honest conversation about what it means to remain faithful when you feel ready but God has not yet released you into the place you expected. We talk about the difference between preparation and positioning, calling and timing, being overlooked and being hidden, and why somebody else receiving an opportunity does not mean God has forgotten your name. David was anointed long before he sat on the throne. Joseph carried a dream years before he walked into the palace. Moses spent decades in obscurity before returning to Egypt. Scripture repeatedly shows us that God can establish purpose in a person long before the visible assignment arrives. So what do you do in the space between “God showed me” and “God sent me”? You serve. You grow. You let God correct what still needs correcting. You learn how to celebrate somebody else’s turn without questioning whether your own will ever come. And most importantly, you refuse to force a door simply because you believe you are ready to walk through it. This conversation is for anyone who has ever whispered, “Lord, I know You called me… so why am I still here?” Maybe you are not behind. Maybe you are not forgotten. Maybe this season is teaching you how to carry tomorrow without mishandling today. Because sometimes maturity sounds like this: “God, if it is my time but not yet my turn, teach me how to honor the season I am standing in until You say move.”
