    There comes a moment in every woman’s life when she has to ask herself a difficult question: “Am I showing up as who I truly am… or who the world expects me to be?” Somewhere along the way, many women learned that attention meant value. That being desired meant being seen. That fitting in mattered more than feeling comfortable in our own skin. But deep down, so many women are exhausted from performing. Exhausted from squeezing into versions of themselves that were never authentic to begin with. And while social media may call it “confidence,” many women are silently battling discomfort, insecurity, and comparison. You see it everywhere: Women adjusting outfits all night. Seeking reassurance. Questioning if they’re “enough.” Feeling exposed instead of empowered. And the truth is, confidence was never supposed to feel like anxiety. In life, we often face moments that feel heavy and overwhelming. You might find yourself questioning your worth or feeling like you’re not doing enough. In this  podcast, I’ll share my recent experience of using gratitude as a powerful tool to shift my mindset and regain a sense of peace and purpose. Understanding the Weight of Our Thoughts It’s easy to fall into a victim mentality when faced with challenges. When I found myself at home washing dishes, my mind wandered to the various pressures and expectations I felt in my life. I could feel a heavy weight settling on my shoulders, leading me to reflect on my past actions and achievements.  The Danger of Negative Self-Talk During those moments of reflection, I started to engage in negative self-talk. I told myself that my efforts were insufficient and that I was not where I wanted to be. This kind of thinking can create a cycle of self-doubt and negativity.  The Power of Gratitude As I continued washing the dishes, I heard a gentle reminder: "Find something to be grateful for." This simple act of shifting focus can be incredibly powerful, especially when you’re overwhelmed. Here’s how I began: 1. Start Small: I listed small things I was grateful for, like having the ability to wash dishes, a home to call my own, and a loving family.   2. Challenge Negative Thoughts: Instead of dwelling on what wasn’t working in my life, I chose to focus on the positives.  Common Mistakes When Practicing Gratitude It's important to approach gratitude mindfully. Many people think they need to find something monumental to be grateful for. However, it’s often the small things that make the biggest impact. Avoid the mistake of dismissing your feelings - it’s okay to acknowledge that you’re struggling while also searching for silver linings. Shifting Your Focus As I practiced gratitude, I felt my spirit begin to lift. I started to notice a change in my energy and outlook. I began to sing songs of praise and shifted my focus back to the larger picture of my life, rather than the small roadblocks.  The Ripple Effect of Gratitude Interestingly, once I began to focus on what I was grateful for, I felt compelled to pray for others. This shift from self to others not only lifted my mood but also created a sense of connection and purpose. I started seeing positive changes not just in my life but in the lives of those I prayed for.  Conclusion Practicing gratitude is a choice we can make every day, especially when challenges arise. What once felt like protection can quietly become a pattern that holds you back.     Here’s a truth we don’t talk about enough:

    Let’s talk about something that most of us say we want… but often struggle to receive feedback. Constructive feedback can feel uncomfortable. Sometimes it can even feel personal. But one of the most important shifts we can make is remembering that feedback is not usually an attack. In many cases, it’s actually a gift an opportunity to grow in ways we might not see on our own. Before I ask someone for feedback, I try to prepare myself mentally. I take a moment to pause, breathe, and remind myself that I’m choosing to learn. That small step helps me stay open. Because if we enter those conversations with a defensive mindset, we miss the entire point. Instead of listening to understand, we start listening just to defend ourselves. And when that happens, the feedback never really lands. Another thing that makes a big difference is asking the right questions. The truth is, the kind of feedback you receive often depends on the kind of questions you ask. If the question is vague, the answer will probably be vague too. For example, asking someone, “How do I come across?” might not give you much clarity. But asking something more specific like, “Can you share a moment when I didn’t listen well?” or “Was there a time when my communication felt overly critical?” that opens the door to real insight. I remember asking a friend once if there had been a moment when I came across as overly critical in a conversation. That single question turned into a really honest dialogue about my communication style and how sometimes my intentions didn’t match how my words actually landed. Once someone starts sharing feedback, the most important thing we can do is listen. Really listen. Resist the urge to interrupt or immediately explain yourself. Let the person finish their thoughts. Sometimes the best thing we can do in that moment is simply absorb what’s being said. I’ve also learned that reflection is powerful. After those conversations, I like to step away and give myself time to process what I heard. I’ll even jot down a few notes, because writing helps me organize my thoughts and really understand what the feedback means. But here’s the key part feedback only matters if we actually use it. Insight without action doesn’t create growth. So after reflecting, try to identify one or two small steps you can take moving forward. For me, after hearing that I sometimes dominate conversations, I made a conscious effort to ask more open-ended questions and create more space for others to share. Those small adjustments can have a big impact. At the end of the day, constructive feedback helps us see our blind spots. It helps us become better communicators, better leaders, and better friends. And when we approach feedback with curiosity instead of defensiveness, it becomes one of the most powerful tools for personal growth. So here’s something to think about: who in your life is honest enough and cares enough to give you real feedback? And when they do… will you be open enough to hear it? Because growth often starts with the courage to ask and the humility to listen.
