The Whole Hearted Woman

Kristen Rey

Welcome to The Whole Hearted Woman Podcast—a Christ-centered space for honest conversations about what's really happening in our hearts and what it looks like to bring those places into relationship with Jesus. Maybe you love God. You believe His Word. You've prayed, served, kept going, and done your best to be faithful. And yet, there may still be places where you feel stuck. Old wounds still speak. Patterns repeat. Relationships stir things in you that you don't always understand. Maybe life has changed and you're wondering who you are now—or you sense God calling you toward something new, but something keeps getting in the way. What if needing healing wasn't a failure of faith? I'm Kristen Rey, author of A Heart Fully Alive and founder of Heart 2 Heart Ministry. Here, we'll slow down, open Scripture, and explore the places where faith and real life meet. We'll talk about identity, wounds, emotional patterns, boundaries, relationships, surrender, purpose, spiritual formation, and what it means to live from a heart increasingly formed by Jesus. Because sometimes the situation consuming all of our attention isn't the whole story. Sometimes we need to look beneath the surface and ask: What's happening in my heart? What have I come to believe because of what I've experienced? What patterns have grown from those beliefs? What is mine to carry—and what isn't?And what might Jesus be inviting me to see differently? This isn't about spiritual performance or pretending everything is fine. It's about bringing our whole heart to Jesus and allowing Him to heal, restore, and form the way we live. So whether you're healing from what's behind you, navigating a season you didn't expect, or sensing that God is calling you toward something new, come sit with me. Bring your questions. Bring your story. Bring your whole heart. And let's discover together what it means to become a woman who doesn't simply believe in Jesus—but increasingly learns to live with Him and from Him. Stop surviving.Start living from a whole heart.

When You Can't Carry Yourself: Learning to Receive Help, Release Self-Reliance, and Trust Jesus

Have you ever felt like you're the one everyone depends on? The strong one. The responsible one. The woman who holds everything together, even when she's quietly struggling herself? But what happens when you're the one who needs help? In this episode of The Whole Hearted Woman Podcast, Kris Rey explores the powerful account in Mark 2:1–12 of a paralyzed man whose four friends carried him to Jesus. When they couldn't get through the crowd, they opened the roof and lowered him into the presence of the One who could meet his deepest need. Through this encounter, we explore what it means to release self-reliance, acknowledge our limitations, and receive help without shame or guilt. We'll consider how our experiences can shape the belief that we must always be capable, how being needed can become part of our identity, and why allowing others to support us can feel so uncomfortable. Most importantly, we'll discover that Jesus never intended for us to become our own source of strength—or to carry everyone else's burdens as though we were their savior. Sometimes faith looks like taking another step. And sometimes it looks like allowing someone to help carry you toward Jesus. If you've spent much of your life being strong for everyone else, this conversation is an invitation to lay down the pressure of having to carry everything alone. Scripture: Mark 2:1–12 Your Whole Hearted Step: This week, consider one area where you've been carrying more than you need to. Ask yourself: What makes it difficult for me to receive help? Bring that before Jesus, and consider one practical way to allow someone trustworthy to support you. Connect with Kris and explore more resources: Heart2HeartMinistry.com You are seen. Season 2 Episode 8: What Does a Heart That Returns Look Like?

David, Repentance, and Giving God Our Whole Heart Have you ever known something was wrong… and done it anyway? Maybe you've reacted out of anger, held on to resentment, justified a decision, or found yourself becoming defensive when someone confronted you. We can love God, know His Word, and still struggle with attitudes, desires, and patterns that don't reflect His heart. In this episode of The Whole Hearted Woman Podcast, we explore the story of David in 2 Samuel 11–12 and his prayer in Psalm 51. David knew God's commandments, yet he made devastating choices. And when God sent Nathan to confront him, David faced a truth he could no longer avoid. What can his story teach us about recognizing what's happening in our own hearts, receiving God's correction, and responding with genuine repentance? Because Jesus doesn't only want access to the places where we've been wounded. He also wants access to the places where we need to change. Together, we'll explore the difference between knowing God's truth and allowing it to govern our lives, why understanding our patterns doesn't excuse our choices, and how the Holy Spirit transforms us from the inside out. Your Whole Hearted Step: Spend time with Jesus this week and pray Psalm 139:23–24: “Search me, O God, and know my heart.” Invite Him to reveal anything you've been defending, avoiding, or holding back from Him. Remember, a Whole Hearted woman isn't someone who has nothing left to repent of. She's someone who is learning not to hide from God when He reveals what needs to change. Jesus wants your whole heart. All of it. Special Guest Episode with Michelle Briggs

What happens when the love we longed for as children becomes the very thing we spend our lives searching for? Our earliest experiences can shape more than our memories. They can influence what we come to believe about ourselves, our worth, our relationships, and even the love of God. But our stories don't have to end where the pain began. In this special episode of The Whole Hearted Woman Podcast, I'm welcoming my very first guest, Michelle Briggs, author of Searching for a Father's Love, speaker, transformation coach, and founder of Journey to Heal LLC. Michelle joins me for an honest and heartfelt conversation about her personal journey through abandonment, loss, forgiveness, and discovering the healing love of God. Together, we explore how childhood wounds can continue speaking into our adult lives, how the beliefs formed through painful experiences can influence our identity and relationships, and why forgiveness isn't about excusing what happened but about finding freedom from what we've carried. We also talk about what happens when we begin inviting Jesus into the places of our hearts that have known rejection, disappointment, and pain—and discover that His love speaks a greater truth than our wounds. If you've ever struggled with feeling unseen, unloved, or not enough—or wondered why certain experiences from your past still affect your life—this conversation is for you. You are not defined by what happened to you. And the pain you've experienced does not have to have the final word. ❤️ Healing begins in the heart. Season 2, Episode 7: When Faith Has to Keep Walking

I hope you enjoy listening to this one as much as I enjoyed recording it. Enjoy :-) The Woman Who Reached for Jesus, Jairus, and Trusting Him With What Happens Next Have you ever prayed, believed, and trusted Jesus with something important, only to find yourself still waiting? Maybe you've tried everything you know to do, and nothing seems to change. Or perhaps you've watched someone else receive the very answer you've been praying for, while your own circumstances seem to be getting worse. What does faith look like when life doesn't unfold the way you hoped? In this episode of The Whole Hearted Woman, Kris Rey takes us into Mark 5, where two remarkable stories unfold together. A woman who has suffered for twelve years reaches for Jesus, believing He can make her well. Meanwhile, Jairus, a synagogue ruler, desperately needs Jesus to come and heal his dying daughter. One woman has waited twelve years. One father cannot afford to wait another minute. And Jesus is right in the middle of both stories. Through these encounters, we'll explore what it means to reach for Jesus when we've exhausted our own efforts, to trust Him when someone else's prayer is answered, and to keep walking with Him even when the news changes. We'll also discover something beautiful about the heart of Jesus: Our need for healing doesn't disqualify us from coming to Him. In this episode, we'll reflect on questions like: Where in my life have I been trying to make things right on my own?Have I mistaken my need for healing as a failure of faith? What happens in my heart when someone else receives the answer I'm still waiting for?Am I willing to tell Jesus the whole truth about what I'm experiencing? What would it look like to keep walking with Him, even when I don't know how my story will unfold? This isn't a message about having enough faith to guarantee a particular outcome. It's about discovering that the power was never in our ability to control the outcome. The power was always in Jesus. Maybe today you're reaching. Maybe you're waiting. Or maybe you're trying to find the strength to keep walking. Wherever you are, there's something in this story for you. Season 2, Episode 6: Maybe That’s Not Who You Are Anymore

Mary Magdalene and the Names We Continue to Carry Have you ever said something about yourself so many times that you stopped questioning whether it was still true? I’ve always been this way. I’m an overthinker. I’m the strong one. I’m terrible at saying no. I’ve never been confident. That’s just who I am. But what if some of the things we’ve been calling identity are actually patterns we learned in response to what we’ve lived through? And what if you’re trying to walk into a new season while still answering to a name that belongs to an old one? In this episode of The Whole Hearted Woman, Kris Rey sits with the story of Mary Magdalene and one deeply personal moment in John 20. Mary is grieving outside the empty tomb when the risen Jesus meets her and simply calls her by name: “Mary.” Her history was real. What Jesus had delivered her from was part of her story—but it was not the totality of who she was. And we see this beautiful thread throughout Scripture. Rahab's past was part of her story too, yet it didn't determine what the rest of her life could become. God didn't erase her story. He redeemed it. Together, we'll explore how old wounds can become identities, why familiar patterns can follow us into new seasons, and why changing a behavior can be so difficult when an old belief about ourselves is still underneath it. We'll ask: Is this really who I am—or who I learned to be? Where did I learn to describe myself this way? What has this identity protected me from? What has it cost me? And what might Jesus be inviting me to see differently? Because sometimes we're trying to change a behavior while still protecting the identity underneath it. Your past may explain part of your story, but it does not have the authority to define who you are becoming in Christ. Maybe you're not simply stuck. Maybe you're becoming. And maybe... that's not who you are anymore. 🌿 CONNECT WITH THE WHOLE HEARTED WOMAN TheWholeHeartedWoman.com Facebook: Heart 2 Heart Ministry – The Whole Hearted Woman Instagram: @krisreyministries You are seen. Season 2, Episode 5: Maybe It’s Not About Choosing Between Mary and Martha. Learning to Receive Before We Pour Out

What happens when being the capable, dependable one starts leaving you exhausted, frustrated, or even resentful? You love the people in your life. You want to serve well. There are responsibilities that genuinely need your attention. But somewhere along the way, serving can become carrying. Responsibility can become over-responsibility. And “I’ve got it” can quietly become: “Why am I the one who has to do everything?” In Episode 5 of The Whole Hearted Life, we sit with Martha and Mary in Luke 10 and look beyond the familiar idea that we simply need to “be more like Mary.” Because we need Martha too. There are times to work, lead, serve, build, care for people, and get things done. The deeper question is: What happens when the Martha in us becomes disconnected from the Mary in us? When Jesus responds to Martha, He doesn't merely address what she's doing. He turns toward what's happening in her heart: “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things…” Sometimes the situation consuming all of our attention isn't the whole problem. It may also be revealing something within us that Jesus wants to lovingly bring into the light. In this episode, we'll explore: • the difference between responsibility and over-responsibility • why stopping, resting, or saying no can sometimes feel so difficult • how serving can become tangled with guilt, perfectionism, worth, or the need to be needed • why exhaustion isn't always solved by better time management • what Mary shows us about listening, receiving, and remaining with Jesus • how to serve from connection rather than depletion We were never meant to continually pour from a heart that has stopped receiving. The Samaritan woman taught us where to drink. Mary reminds us to stay long enough to receive. And Martha shows us what can happen when our pouring out exceeds our taking in. Maybe Whole Hearted living isn't choosing between being Mary or Martha. Maybe it's learning to serve like Martha without losing the heart of Mary. 🌿 CONNECT WITH THE WHOLE HEARTED WOMAN Visit: TheWholeHeartedWoman.com Facebook: Heart 2 Heart Ministry – The Whole Hearted Woman Instagram: @krisreyministries You are seen. Season 2 Episode 4 What do you reach for when your heart is thirsty?

Approval?  Reassurance? Control? Achievement? A relationship? Staying busy? Being needed? We often focus on the pattern itself: Why do I keep doing this? Why do I keep going back? Why can't I let this go? But what if Jesus is asking a deeper question? What is your heart actually thirsty for? In Episode 4 of The Whole Hearted Life, we meet the Samaritan woman in John 4—a woman who came to Jacob's well carrying a water jar and found Jesus already waiting there. What begins as a conversation about water moves beneath the surface and into the complicated places of her story. Jesus knows her history. He tells her the truth. And yet He doesn't shame her, reduce her to her past, or walk away. He stays. Together, we'll explore how wounds can shape the places we learn to go for love, safety, belonging, worth, comfort and control—and why changing a behavior isn't always the same thing as healing the thirst underneath it. Because Jesus isn't only interested in changing what we do. He wants to show us what our hearts have been asking our patterns to provide. And ultimately, He doesn't leave us staring at our wounds or analyzing ourselves. He offers us Himself. The woman came to the well carrying a container for the water she thought she needed. But she encountered a Love no jar could contain. She came to carry water home. Instead, she carried news of Jesus back to her town. Maybe Whole Hearted formation isn't becoming a woman who never thirsts. Maybe it's becoming a woman who knows where to drink. 🎧 The Whole Hearted Woman Podcast with Kris Rey Season 2: The Whole Hearted Life — Learning to Live From a Heart Formed by Jesus CONNECT WITH THE WHOLE HEARTED WOMAN 🌿 Visit: TheWholeHeartedWoman.com 🌿 Follow on Facebook: Heart 2 Heart Ministry – The Whole Hearted Woman 🌿 Follow on Instagram: @krisreyministries If this episode speaks to a thirsty place in your own heart, share it with another woman who may need the reminder. Season 2 Episode 3 What happens when you discover something about yourself you never thought was there?

Peter loved Jesus. He had walked with Him, eaten with Him, witnessed miracles, experienced His presence—and when Jesus said the disciples would fall away, Peter was certain: “Even if everyone else does, I never will.” And I believe Peter meant it. But Peter wasn’t only certain about Jesus. Peter was certain about Peter. Then the atmosphere changed. Jesus was arrested. Fear entered the picture. Everything suddenly became real—and the man who said, “I will die with You,” found himself saying, “I don’t know Him.” In Episode 3 of The Whole Hearted Life, we walk with Peter from the table to the courtyard, from bitter weeping to empty fishing nets, and finally to the shore where the resurrected Jesus meets him again. We’ll talk honestly about what happens when pressure reveals something in us we didn’t know was there—and the difference between conviction, shame, repentance, grace, and restoration. Because failure may reveal something about us. But failure does not get the final word about who we become. Peter moves from: “I will never.” to: “Lord, You know.” And somewhere between those two statements, a man who had placed enormous confidence in his own strength was learning something deeper: dependence upon Jesus. Maybe Whole Hearted living isn’t becoming so strong that we never fail. Maybe it’s becoming so connected to Jesus that when we do, we know where to return. 🎧 The Whole Hearted Woman Podcast with Kris Rey Season 2: The Whole Hearted Life — Learning to Live From a Heart Formed by Jesus CONNECT WITH THE WHOLE HEARTED WOMAN 🌿 Visit: TheWholeHeartedWoman.com 🌿 Follow on Facebook: Heart 2 Heart Ministry – The Whole Hearted Woman 🌿 Follow on Instagram: @krisreyministries If this episode encouraged you, share it with a woman who may need this reminder today.
