NYSC: What We Built, Why We Let It Go

In this Season 1 Finale, I'm joined by my husband for a conversation that feels both personal and full circle. For six years, we poured ourselves into Unidos en la Musica: A Latin American Festival, building something that brought people, culture, and music together in a really meaningful way. In this episode, we talk about what it took to create an event like that, the vision behind it, and the decision to finally close that chapter. We also reflect on how we met, his upbringing in New York, and how his life experiences shaped his ability to bring something of that scale to life. This conversation is about more than an event; it's about a partnership, growth, creativity, and knowing when it's time to let something go. Thank you for being part of this first season and for holding space for these conversations. Season 2 will return in Fall 2026! New episodes drop weekly! NYSC: Strong, Healthy, and Still Ourselves

In this episode, I sit down with Baylee Bishop, Strength and Conditioning coach at KTLYST Fitness and Athlete Lab, to talk about what it really means for women to feel strong, healthy, and at home in their bodies. We get into myths so many of us grew up with: the fear of "getting bulky," the pressure to stay small, and the idea that fitness should be about appearance instead of strength. We talk honestly about what changes when women start lifting heavy, how strength training supports long-term health, and why taking up space - physically and mentally - can still feel uncomfortable for so many of us. This conversation is relaxed, real, and rooted in everyday life.  It's for women balancing work, family, and everything in between, while trying to take care of themselves in a way that actually feels sustainable. If you've ever felt intimidated by strength training or unsure where fitness fits into your life, this one is for you. NYSC: Who Am I Outside of What I Do for Everyone Else?

In this solo episode, I'm sitting with a question that I think a lot of women carry quietly: Who am I outside of what I do for everyone else? So much of life can become about roles, responsibilities, and being needed - as a mom, a partner, a friend, a worker, a caretaker. And while those roles can be meaningful, they can also make it easy to lose touch with the quieter parts of ourselves. In this conversation, I reflect on identity, the subtle ways we drift from ourselves, the guilt that can come with choosing our own needs, and the small things that help us reconnect to who we are underneath all the doing. This one is personal, honest, and for anyone who has ever loved their life deeply while still wondering where they are in the middle of it all. New episodes drop weekly! NYSC: The Quiet Side of Motherhood

Motherhood is often described as loud, joyful, busy, and full... but there's another side that doesn't get talked about as often. In this episode, I sit down again with my friend Angie for an honest conversation about mom guilt and the quiet loneliness that can sometimes come with raising children. We talk about the pressure moms put on themselves, the identity shifts that happen along the way, and the moments when motherhood feels both deeply meaningful and unexpedtedly isolating. This conversation is real, heartfelt, and full of the kind of honesty that reminds you you're not the only one navigating these feelings. Because loving your kids deeply and still needing space, support, and connection can exist at the same time. If you've ever wondered whether other moms feel this way too... you're not alone. NYSC: Friendship After 40: Less Noise, More Meaning

Friendship looks different at 40 than it did at 20, and honestly... no one really prepares you for that shift. In this episode, we talk about what it actually means to make and keep friends in this season of life. The schedules are fuller, the energy is different, and the connections we crave feel deeper and more intentional than ever before. We explore how friendships evolve, why some naturally fade, how new ones unexpectedly grow, and what it takes to nurtur relationships when life feels busy, layered, and real. This conversation is honest, relaxed, and full of laughter - a reminder that meaningful friendship isn't about quantity anymore, but about feeling seen, safe, and understood. If you've ever wondered whether it's normal for friendships to change... or felt like you're rediscovering connection all over again... this one's for you. New episodes drop weekly! NYSC: Living Between Cultures

In this episode, I sit down with my friend and bandmate Uller to talk about what it really means to live between cultures. Born in Mexico, raised in the U.S., moving back to Mexico as a young boy, before eventually making his way back to the States with his wife and child, his life has been shaped by movement, music, and a constant negotiation of identity. We talk about belonging to two cultures at once, the confusion and beauty that comes with that, and how music has helped him make sense of who he is. We also explore moments of cultural representation (like the Bad Bunny Super Bowl Halftime Show!), what it feels like to see yourself reflected in art, and how he's teaching his son to embrace both sides of his identity without feeling like he has to choose. This is a relaxed, heartfelt conversation about identity, belonging, and the freedom of realizing you don't have to fit into just one box. New episodes drop weekly! NYSC: Choosing Love Over Fear

In this episode, I sit down with my friend and bandmate Raul, a percussionist, immigrant, and someone who has spent the last few years intentionally choosing growth. Originally from Colombia, Raul shares his journey of moving to the U.S., finding his place through  music, and what it's looked like to shift his mindset toward health, wellness, and self-awareness. We talk openly about fear: where it shows up, how it holds us back, and what happens when you consciously choose love instead. This is a relaxed, honest conversation about transformation, discipline, creativity, and learning to listen to yourself. If you've ever felt stuck, burned out, or unsure of your next step, this episode is a gentle reminder that change doesn't have to be loud - it just has to be intentional. New episodes drop weekly! NYSC: Friendship Through Every Season

In this episode, I am joined by my good friend Karen for a heartfelt conversation about how friendship evolves as life changes. From becoming a young mom to navigating independence, culture, and now building a business as an entrepreneur, Karen shares how each season of her life reshaped what she needed from friendships, and how she showed up as a friend herself. We talk about letting go, finding your people again, setting boundaries, and the quiet ways friendship matures alongside us. NYSC: Just Friends? Let's Talk About It.

In this episode, I sit down with my good friend Cesar to unpack one of the age-old questions: Can men and women really be just friends? We talk honestly about boundaries, attraction, emotional connection, frindship dynamics, and how life stages, relationships, and personal growth shape the way we show up for each other. Along the way, we share real stories, a few laughs, and some uncomfortable (but necessary) truths. This conversation isn't about right or wrong answers. It's about curiosity, self-awareness, and understanding the gray areas of human connection. Whether you believe platonic friendships are simple, complicated, or somewhere in between, this one will definitely get you thinking. New episodes drop weekly! In this episode, I am joined again by my good friend Angie for a real, honest conversation about perimenopause: The season no one really prepares you for. We talk about the first signs that made us pause, the emotional shifts we didn't expect, the humor we've found along the way, and what it feels like to learn our bodies all over again in this phase of life.  It's a conversation rooted in curiosity, compassion, and the comfort of knowing you're not alone in it. This one is for anyone who's quietly wondering "is this normal?" and wishing someone had talked abou tthis sooner. New episodes drop weekly! In this episode, I'm joined by my dear friend Ashley Gowdy Lewis (@theashleynycole) for an honest, thoughtful conversation about parenting, breaking cycles, and raising kids differently than we were raised. We talk about unlearning old patterns, navigating parenthood with more intention, and what it looks like to rewrite the rules in real time... with grace, humor, and a lot of self-reflection along the way. NYSC: The First Conversation

Welcome to NYSC! In this first episode, I'm sitting down with Angie Bailey, a dear friend and amazing Mexicana actress, singer, mom, and most recently, videographer, for a conversation that introduces the podcast - who I am, where I'm from, and why this space exists. We talk about what you can expect this season, the kind of conversations we'll be having, and the pace I want this podcast to move at. This episode isn't about advice or takeaways. It's about context. Thanks for being here at the beginning! New episodes drop weekly! Follow us: IG: @NotYourSouthernChickPodcast Facebook: Not Your Southern Chick Podcast
