From riding bareback horses and chasing championship buckles to standing behind the pulpit and sharing the Gospel, Pastor Ron Martens has lived a life full of unexpected turns and God's unmistakable fingerprints. Pastor Ron takes listeners back to his younger years as a rodeo cowboy, where courage, determination and a willingness to get back up after being thrown were simply part of life. But his journey didn't end in the arena. After hanging up his chaps, Ron pursued a career in pharmacy, spending more than three decades serving others before eventually answering God's call to pastoral ministry. Along the way, something happened that would change his life forever: Ron surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. He shares how that decision transformed his relationship with God and why, decades later, he remains passionate about giving others the opportunity to experience that same life-changing salvation. The conversation also explores the importance of discipleship, the influence of those who invested in Ron and his wife and his conviction that Christians are called to do two things: Grow and Go. Grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ, mature in faith and then go into the world and live in a way that allows others to see Christ through us. Laz and Ron also discuss the difference between knowing Scripture and truly surrendering to Jesus, why salvation isn't something we can earn through good behavior or religious accomplishments and the beauty of recognizing God's hand throughout the different seasons of our lives.     In Episode 32 of A Latte with Laz, Monica joins Laz for another Real Talk with Laz & Mo as they have an honest conversation about Faith in the Age of AI. Together, they wrestle with something they've seen in their own lives: when an answer is only seconds away, how easy is it to reach for AI before reaching for God? They talk about going to God first, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak through Scripture and remembering that sometimes the waiting itself is discipleship. AI can give us information about God, but only time with God can deepen our relationship with Him. Laz and Monica also explore the growing importance of discernment. AI can sound convincing and still be wrong. It can help us research, brainstorm, organize our thoughts and even become better thinkers but there is a difference between allowing AI to help you think better and allowing it to think for you. This isn't an anti-AI conversation. Laz and Monica both use AI and believe it can be an incredible tool. It's a conversation about keeping that tool in its proper place. Technology will continue to change. AI will continue to become more powerful. The answer isn't fear, it's wisdom, discernment and knowing which voice matters most. Use the tool.     In this episode of A Latte with Laz, Laz sits down with Pastor Rob to hear the remarkable story of a young man who grew up in church, walked away to pursue a life of rock music that led to drugs, alcohol and the world's promises, only to discover that everything he was searching for could only be found in Jesus Christ. For more than 31 years, Rob has faithfully followed the God who redeemed him, restored him, forgave him and gave his life a completely new purpose. What began as one man's surrender has become a lifetime of ministry. Together with his wife, Sandy, Rob has served as a missionary in multiple countries, completed seminary training in Australia and has faithfully shepherded his church as Senior Pastor for more than two decades. Along the way, God also gave him a passion for strengthening marriages and walking alongside couples through some of life's most difficult seasons. During their conversation, Rob even encourages Laz to prayerfully consider stepping into marriage counseling, recognizing a gifting and calling he sees in him.
