Sandy Smith is a true legend in offshore sportfishing, known for his relentless drive, sharp instincts, and innovative approach to the game. He began his career running an outboard program, chasing king mackerel and learning the ocean through long days, early mornings, and hard-earned experience. As his career evolved, Sandy didn’t follow trends, he set them. He went on to pioneer the now-famous “two-man program” aboard his sportfish in the Bahamas, proving that precision, preparation, and chemistry could outperform larger crews. His lean, efficient style reshaped how many anglers approach teamwork and strategy. Over decades on the water, Sandy has become known not just for his catches but for his leadership, adaptability, and lasting influence on the sport. In this episode, we dive into Sandy’s journey, from the early grind to building one of the most respected programs in sportfishing, and explore what separates good fishermen from great ones.
