SDEpisode38 - Sdvadhyaya: The practice of Self Study

Send us Fan Mail What if some of the answers we've been searching for aren't found in another person, another book, or another spiritual practice, but within ourselves? In this episode of Soul Deep Yoga and Healing, we're exploring Svadhyaya, the fourth Niyama in the eight-limbed path of yoga, which translates to self-study or self-reflection. It's the practice of turning inward, becoming curious about our thoughts, emotions, patterns, beliefs, and the stories we tell ourselves. We'll talk about what it really means to know yourself, how our past experiences can shape the way we move through the world, and how becoming aware of our patterns can help us break cycles that no longer serve us. We'll also explore the difference between self-awareness and self-judgment, because the goal isn't to criticize every part of ourselves. It's to understand ourselves with honesty, compassion, and a willingness to grow. From journaling and meditation to noticing our reactions, questioning old beliefs, and recognizing the lessons hidden in everyday experiences, we'll share practical ways to bring Svadhyaya into our daily lives. Because healing doesn't always begin with changing who we are. Sometimes, it begins with finally understanding who we've been, why we've become that person, and who we're ready to become next. Grab your favorite drink, settle in, and join us for a little soul searching. It's time to get curious about the person we spend our entire lives with: ourselves.
