You are where You Need to Be

Viktória and Nikolett

You Are Where You Need To Be is a podcast about becoming someone who can face their past honestly, feel it fully, and learn from it without getting trapped in it. We explore relationships, attachment, boundaries, triggers, and the psychology behind our patterns with curiosity and clarity. Through real experiences and reflection, we focus on emotional regulation, self-expression, and responding differently when old dynamics return. This is about becoming secure, aware, and intentional — together.

You Saw the Red Flags. So Why Did You Stay? | When Empathy Becomes a Trap

Sometimes we don’t stay because we failed to see someone’s behaviour. We stay because we can explain it. They had a difficult childhood. They’re traumatized. They’re just busy. Maybe I’m expecting too much. Maybe I need to be more understanding. In this episode of You Are Where You Need To Be, we explore what happens when empathy, people pleasing and understanding other people begin to turn into self-abandonment. Through our own experiences, we unpack four survival patterns: the Explainer, the Loyal Empath, the Self-Blamer and the Manager , from explaining away red flags and feeling responsible for wounded people, to blaming ourselves when someone hurts us and managing everyone else’s emotions before our own. We also explore where these relationship patterns can come from: childhood conditioning, conditional love, the need for control, suppressed anger and learning to understand other people in order to feel safe. And we ask an uncomfortable question: when does empathy stop being empathy and become conditioned justification? Because sometimes we didn’t stay because we missed the red flags. We stayed because the truth scared us more than the pain. 🎙️ Part 1 — When Empathy Becomes a TrapIn Part 2, we will continue with Viki’s survival patterns and the ways they shaped her relationships and choices. Topics: empathy, people pleasing, red flags, unhealthy relationships, self-abandonment, self-blame, childhood conditioning, attachment, boundaries, relationship patterns and emotional healing.
