    Episode 24 – Dustin Lowman

    Dustin Lowman is a New York City-based folksinger. In his earliest days of angst, Lowman became enraptured by Pete Townshend. Shortly thereafter, he became enraptured by Bob Dylan in whom Lowman saw a ghost and identified with it. When confounded by betrayals of head, heart, and spirit, Dustin would retreat into his inner sanctum to compose ballads on the matters at hand. When his parents divorced, and undermined his teenage notions of eternal love, he took to the sanctum to question. Making such pilgrimages with such frequency, the songwriting sanctum became an enduringly dignified space. Dustin says his mission is to share the results of his sessions in the inner sanctum. His songs are comedic, tragic, absurd, naturalistic, traditional, and, happily, heretical. A self-described "Dylanologist," Dustin also posts frequently on YouTube his thoughtful takes on such icons as Dylan, Springsteen and Cohen.

    Episode 23 – The Levins

    From harmony in voice to harmony for humanity, husband and wife duo The Levins, have created a hopeful, resonant sound that feels like both a refuge and a call to action. Ira and Julia’s music has never faltered from their original personal and artistic intention that they set many years ago: to bridge communities, invite connection, and inspire healing, understanding and uplift.  The Levins have garnered  accolades and acclaim for their uncompromising and heartfelt music.     Episode 21 – Frank Migliorelli

    Best known as guitarist and frontman of The Dirt Nappers, Frank Migliorelli is a formidable solo artist as well. Frank has written and published a library of music for advertising agencies, children's publishers, and video game projects. He's been a finalist in top songwriting competitions. As a producer, he’s recorded such great artists including the award-winning duo "Satan and Adam”—now featured in an award-winning documentary, "Bill Perry: Love Scars," The Uptown Horns and a number of other album releases. He's written and produced music for a 20th Century Fox "X-Files" video game, numerous  children’s video games for Scholastic and Sunburst, and even wrote a soundtrack for a "Chippendales" video. “When you’ve done everything from writing music for little kids, ad agencies and half-naked guys in bowties,” says Migliorelli, “you want to step back and try something different.” When The Dirt Nappers take the stage, you are in for a night of  the best of Americana folk, rock n' roll and soul around.

    Episode 20 – Louise Coombe

    Louise Coombe is a songwriter of great poise and a voice that will give you goosebumps. She grew up in McEwen, TN, on a cattle farm, riding horses and writing poetry, and began writing songs after college while working in TV/radio in Knoxville. She moved back to the Nashville area in 2004 and began co-writing with country, bluegrass and folk artists.  Louise had a major creative breakthrough in 2007 when a song she wrote with famed Americana producer and writer Ray Kennedy was picked up for a PBS documentary. She started writing songs about the South—what she knew and where she grew up. In 2008, Louise began working on a new album, entitled called “Home,” a mix of bluegrass, country and folk. She entered some song contests connected to festivals and ended up winning top awards at Kerrville Folk Festival, Wildflower! Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. “Home” debuted at #1 on the Folk DJ charts in January 2010 and went on to be one of the most played albums that year for that chart. Today, Louise lives in Massachusetts, where she is a fixture on the Northeast acoustic circuit.  She’s played at The Bluebird Café in Nashville, Club Passim in Boston, Caffé Lena in upstate NY and many more venues. She is also a good friend of the pod and we were delighted that she sat down with us! Her most recent album, Paris, was released in 2025.

    Ep 19 – Frank Critelli

    Poet, philosopher, raconteur, busker, disc jockey, teacher, gardener — all these and more describe Frank Critelli, a tireless advocate and beacon for local music whose voice soars higher and stronger than Castle Craig in his Meriden, Connecticut, hometown. For more than 30 years, Frank has played in streets and subways, clubs and coffeehouses, barrooms and classrooms, colleges, festivals, theaters, and in his kitchen. Currently he is one-third of original music trio The Bargain. But whether you see him solo or with a band, you’ll come away entertained, energized, and possibly enlightened. With Rick Allison, Frank co-hosts The Local Bands Show on WPLR 99.1 FM in New Haven and streaming on CygnusRadio.com. In addition, he contributes to the scene with performances and interviews, and by organizing events such as the Olde Church Acoustic Series.

    Episode 18 – Peter Halperin

    Peter Halperin is a West Tisbury, Mass., based singer-songwriter, club owner and radio host. Peter cut his teeth back in the 1960's in the Greenwich Village folk scene. A retired psychiatrist, he was never far from his guitar and piano, and he released a sensational album titled "Beyond the Storm" in 2024, produced by Fred Mollin. Halperin recently told Martha Vineyard’s MV Times newspaper. “It pulls at the creative heartstrings for people like me, who may have drifted off the path into other careers.” Peter's Acoustic Northeast interview is in-depth and reveals a multidimensional singer-songwriter.     Episode 17 – Carolann Solebello

    Carolann Solebello is a performing songwriter born and bred in NYC. A founding member of Americana trio Red Molly, Carolann now tours as a solo troubadour and with modern folk foursome No Fuss and Feathers. Her smooth, compelling voice and warm acoustic guitar style nod to rural folk traditions while her rhythmic precision and sophisticated phrasing plant her firmly in the urban present. Carolann is a proud member of AFM Local 1000 and the Jack Hardy Songwriters Exchange. She has hosted a bunch of open mics, won a bunch of songwriting awards, and is currently working on her sixth solo album.
