We Are Woman

The We Are Woman Podcast is a living, breathing conversation between Bec Sharp, Melissa Moss, and Sara de Clercq. Three women with decades of experience in nervous system-informed practices and psycho-somatic healing. This podcast is an inquiry into what it means to breathe fully, feel deeply, and live embodied. Together, we explore the edges of womanhood, vulnerability, power, intimacy, creativity, and the nervous system. It's an invitation to come home again: to our bodies, to ourselves, and to our sisterhood. A space of remembering who we are beneath the conditioning. Raw. Real. Restored

    The Space Between Seasons

An honest conversation about what stayed with us, what surprised us, and what we're taking into Season 2. This week we're doing something a little different. Instead of diving into a new topic, the three of us sat down for a relaxed conversation to reflect on Season 1. Over a cup of tea and a chat, we looked back on the conversations that stayed with us, the themes that kept resurfacing, the insights we didn't expect, and what it's been like creating this podcast together. We talk about some of our favourite moments from the season, the topics that challenged us personally, and the conversations that continue to ripple through our own lives, relationships, and work. It's an honest reflection on what we've learned along the way and what surprised us most about sharing these conversations so publicly. We also share a little about what's ahead in Season 2, where we'll be exploring expression through the lens of voice, movement, creativity, sensuality, breath, and the nervous system. If you've been listening along this season, thank you for being part of these conversations. We hope you'll join us as we step into the next chapter. We'll be taking a short break before returning in July with Season 2. In the meantime, we'd love to stay connected. If something from this season has resonated with you, or you're curious about any of the work we speak about on the podcast, you can reach out to any of us through the links below. Whether it's breathwork, psychotherapy, coaching, circles, or simply following along with what we're sharing, we'd love to hear from you. Work with us! Touch, Breath & Being Held

This episode of We Are Woman is a conversation about nervous system safety, human connection, and the deeper role of touch in FBR Breathwork. Today, Mel and Sara explore touch, both within FBR Breathwork and as something deeply human. Touch exists so naturally in our lives that we often don’t stop to think about it. The way we hold a child when they cry, place a hand on someone when they’re hurting, or instinctively reach toward ourselves in moments of overwhelm. There is something profoundly relational and regulating about touch, and in this episode we slow down enough to really feel into why that might be. We speak about touch in the context of Facilitated Breath Repatterning breathwork, where touch becomes part of the language of the work. Not something added on, but a way of bringing awareness to the body, supporting the nervous system, and helping people notice where they may be holding, bracing, or protecting. We explore how touch can soothe, soften, ground, and support, but also how it can reveal the places that still don’t quite feel safe yet. And importantly, we speak to the nuance that every body receives touch differently, and that all of those responses are valid. This conversation also opens into the broader ways many of us have become disconnected from safe, nurturing, non-demanding touch in modern life. We reflect on what happens when touch becomes rushed, performative, or absent altogether, and why being gently met by another regulated human can feel so profound. More than anything, this episode is an invitation to become curious about your own relationship with touch, and the ways it may help bring you back into connection with your body, your breath, and yourself. Creating Ourselves Through Relationship

In this episode of We Are Woman, Bec sits down with Mishae Bailitis, a psychotherapist with a Master's in Gestalt Psychotherapy, trained in sensorimotor psychotherapy and the Gottman couples therapy method. Bec has had the privilege of witnessing Mishae's work firsthand, and what struck her is his rare ability to hold space for really deep, complex pain while also making room for lightness, humour, and humanity. That balance is something I think we all need more of. In our conversation, we discuss relational trauma, the body as conductor, why insight alone often isn't enough to create change, and what it really means to move through the world in connection with others. If you'd like to connect with Mishae or explore working with him, you can find him at somatictherapybyron.com.au. Work with us! 4. The Good Girl

    May 11

    The Good Girl

There’s a version of womanhood many of us learned very early in life — the good girl. The one who is polite, responsible, helpful, and easy to be around. The one who tries to get things right, doesn’t cause trouble, and quietly carries what’s needed. For many of us, being that girl meant being liked, accepted, and safe. And so, over time, it becomes something we carry with us into adulthood. In this conversation, Bec and Mel explore where this pattern comes from and how it can begin to shape the way we move through the world. From perfectionism and pressure, to people-pleasing and the quiet habit of putting others first, we reflect on the cost of always trying to be “good.” And yet, we also hold the nuance because the qualities underneath this pattern are often deeply human ones: care, empathy, responsibility, and kindness. This episode isn’t about rejecting those parts of ourselves, but about softening the pressure around them. It’s about moving beyond both compliance and rebellion, and toward something more integrated where we can still care, still show up, and still be responsible, but from a place of choice rather than conditioning. A gentle invitation to meet the part of you that learned to be “good” with compassion, and to begin loosening the rules she’s been living by. Work with us! Love Letters to The Universe

This conversation with Vanessa Forbes moves beyond music as something we simply listen to… and into music as something we feel, something that meets us, and something that can open parts of us we may not have had access to before. Vanessa is a musician and space holder whose work sits at the intersection of sound, healing, and expression. What unfolds in this conversation is less about technique or performance, and more about what it takes to let something move through you. We explore the tension so many of us live in — between force and surrender, between trying to create something and allowing it to emerge. There’s also a deeper thread here around safety. What it actually means to feel at home in your body. And how that sense of safety shapes the way we express, create, and relate to life. This conversation gently opens into: creativity as something that moves through us, not from usThe role of surrender in both art and healingMusic as a pathway for emotional release and reintegrationThe intelligence of timing — and trusting when something is ready to be feltThe balance between structure and letting goWhat it means to be held, and to allow ourselves to receiveListen to Vanessa's new single Speak Your Truth out now on Spotify and all platforms. Relaxed Intensity with Dan Kurlapski

In this conversation, we sit down with Dan Kurlapski, co-founder of Breathwork Byron and, Yes& Conscious Leadership. Dan’s work is grounded in a deep belief in thriving humans, in our capacity to meet life fully, and to live with more presence, range, and potential. Together, we explore the different ways we meet life - through doing, striving, bracing, or sometimes finding it hard to move at all - and how these patterns are often shaped by what is happening beneath the surface. We explore how, for many of us, doing can become a form of regulation. Movement can feel like safety, while stillness can feel unfamiliar or even uncomfortable. And for others, it can be the opposite, where stillness feels more familiar, and accessing movement or activation can be the challenge. Over time, these patterns shape how we respond to life. Dan brings a grounded and practical perspective to this, helping us see how these tendencies live in the body, and how breath can begin to create space between us and the ways we’ve learned to cope. This conversation opens up a different way of relating to life by expanding our capacity to meet what’s here. Whether that’s activation or stillness, anger, sadness, fear, or even joy, love, and expansion. Relaxed intensity isn’t about controlling your state, but about having the capacity to be with whatever arises. To move when it’s time to move, to rest when it’s time to rest, and not need either one to define you. There is something deeply grounding in this, becoming more available to your full experience. More capacity. More presence. More range. And as you move through your day, perhaps there’s a gentle place to notice… where am I pushing? Where am I avoiding? The Return of the Sisterhood

In this episode of We Are Woman, we explore the idea of sisterhood and what becomes possible when women support one another instead of feeling like we are competing. Through conversation and gentle reflection, we look at how many of us have experienced both sides of this dynamic - the beauty of being uplifted and held by another woman, and the moments where comparison, judgment, or old wounds can quietly surface between us. We speak honestly about where some of these patterns can begin, often tracing back to early experiences in childhood, and how they can shape the way we relate to other women as adults. Inspired by the wisdom of nature, we reflect on the idea that flourishing rarely happens in isolation. Like ecosystems, we too tend to grow and thrive through connection, encouragement, and shared support. This conversation gently points toward collaboration as the deeper invitation. It opens space for greater awareness and compassion for ourselves and for the other women walking beside us, recognising that we are all navigating our own histories as we learn what it means to truly stand together. Bec closes the episode with a series of thoughtful journal prompts to help you reflect on your own experiences and consider how you might cultivate more openness, support, and connection with the women around you. Where Nourishment Becomes Safety

Food has become confusing. We’re constantly being told what to eat, what to avoid, and how to optimise our health,  yet many of us feel more disconnected than ever. In this episode, we sit down with Amanda Powell, a nutritionist specialising in body composition, gut health and thyroid health, as well as GI mapping, food intolerance and functional testing, to explore what’s really going on beneath the noise. From the impact of stress and the nervous system to the subtle ways we override our body’s signals, this conversation is an invitation to simplify and come back to what actually matters. We also unpack the quiet reward/punishment cycle so many women find themselves in with food. Being “good” during the week, then letting go and feeling like we need to earn what we eat or make up for it later. Not in extreme ways,  but in the subtle, everyday patterns that shape how we relate to ourselves. Amanda brings a grounded, refreshing perspective on why this cycle isn’t really about food at all, but about control, guilt, and disconnection, and what it might look like to step out of that dynamic and into a more intuitive, supportive relationship with eating. And for those navigating this as mothers, we touch on the question many of us carry - what are we passing on to our children? Because kids don’t just learn what to eat, they learn how to feel about food. Together, we explore how we can model a more balanced, intuitive relationship;  not through perfection, but through awareness, presence, and a deeper connection to our own bodies. Work with us!
