God Never Rejects You. Where Are You Rejecting Him?

Link to end video: https://youtu.be/LL-ClZoJ3vA God never rejects you. Father Alfonse asks where you are already walking away — every time you trade what is true, honorable, and pure for a place in the crowd.St. Paul says have no anxiety, and names what to hold instead: whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and gracious. Isaiah asks what more we want, after God has already carried His people out of Egypt, through the sea, and into the land. The world will not stay as it is. A child in the pew may one day call home from the moon. Gossip, jealousy, and backstabbing were already old 160 years ago. "I Was Wrong": The 3 Hardest Words a Catholic Will Ever Say

Your child says "No, I won't." What you do in the next ten seconds matters more than you think. Fr. Alfonse Nazzaro on raising kids who come back to "yes," to you and to God.In Jesus' parable of the two sons, one says no and then goes. The other says yes and never shows up. Fr. Alfonse starts with a Good Friday in the mountains of Mexico, where the villagers handed him the biggest cross in the procession, and ends with six words every family needs to learn how to say.✝️ When your child says no, don't pounce. Say "OK," walk away, and leave room for grace. Most of the time, they come back on their own. ✝️ Raise confident kids, but teach them to open their eyes, ears, heart and mind when they're making the wrong choice. ✝️ Nobody is the "good son" or the "bad son." Every one of us fights "my will" against "Thy will" our whole life. ✝️ God is always leading us somewhere we don't want to go: toward the cross. No one escapes suffering, but no one walks it alone. ✝️ Obedience requires faith. Humility requires honesty. ✝️ The way home starts with six phrases: I was wrong. I'm sorry. Forgive me. I need you. Help me. Lead me, Lord.⏱️ TIMESTAMPS: 0:00 – What are you saying no to God? 0:24 – Two sons, two answers 1:26 – Good Friday in the mountains of Mexico 2:49 – "Father, we have a cross for you" 4:00 – "Lead me, guide me"... but where? 5:23 – God always leads us to Calvary 6:06 – The only time I told my father no 6:36 – Raising confident kids 7:05 – When your child says no: walk away 7:46 – Nobody is the good son or the bad son 8:47 – What are you saying no to God? 9:36 – Christ emptied Himself 9:59 – Six words that bring us home🙏 PRAYER REFLECTION: Lord, You were patient with me every time I said no. Give me that same patience with my children and grandchildren. Help me leave room for Your grace instead of rushing to win the argument. And when it is my turn to come home, give me the humility to say it plainly: I was wrong. I'm sorry. Forgive me. I need You. Help me. Lead me, Lord. Amen.📖 SCRIPTURE REFERENCES: Matthew 21:28-32 (The parable of the two sons) Philippians 2:1-11 (Christ emptied Himself, obedient to death on a cross) Ezekiel 18:25-28 ("The Lord's way is not fair") Psalm 25:4-9 (Your ways, O Lord, make known to me) 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year A🎯 THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE:The next time your child or grandchild tells you "no," don't argue. Say "OK," walk away, and give it one hour. Notice what happens.Pick one person you've been at odds with. Before Sunday, say the first three words to them: "I was wrong."💬 Which of the six is hardest for you to say? Comment the number (1–6). Catholic Priest Explains Thoughts on the Iran War

I was in high school when Iran took American embassy workers hostage. That was 1979. Wishing did not end it. Here we are in 2026.A priest is not a general. Father Alfonse says that up front. He agrees with the Holy Father: you have to talk, and you have to protect the innocent. The Catholic Church is also not pacifist. Some causes, he argues, you cannot kick to your children and grandchildren. If you remember 1979 — or you are paying the gas bill and praying for kids who will inherit whatever we will not face — this one is for you.✝️ What you'll hear:✝️ Why the Church insists on talking first — and still teaches just war✝️ Economic pressure instead of bombs: is the pain worth the aim✝️ A Grant book, a historian father, and a Civil War that was never as united as we pretend✝️ Lincoln vs. McClellan: when “peace” is the campaign, and the cause is still unfinished✝️ 1979 to 2026: the hostage crisis did not disappear because we hoped it would✝️ “Death to America” and why peace needs two sides of goodwill✝️ The Iranian people, who are not the same as their government✝️ How to help Christians in the Middle East: prayer, support, and Holy Land tourism✝️ James Longstreet’s question: why do men fight who were born to be brothers📌 This Week's Challenge:Pray by name, every day this week, for Christians in the Middle East — and for one person (or one people) you are tempted to treat as an enemy instead of a brother. If you can, buy from a Holy Land Christian shop or a parish olive-wood sale rather than a factory knockoff.🙏 Prayer Reflection:Lord Jesus, You called us brothers and sisters before we ever chose a side. Give leaders the goodwill to sit down without abandoning the innocent. Give us the courage to face what we would rather hand to our grandchildren. Teach us to love peace without lying about evil, and to hate war without forgetting that some things are just. Amen.📖 Scripture echoed (not a Sunday homily — these are the notes in the talk):• “Blessed are the peacemakers” (Matthew 5:9)• Just war and the defense of the innocent — Catechism 2307–2317• Cain and Abel: the first brothers, the first blood (Genesis 4:8–10)• “You have heard that it was said… but I say to you, love your enemies” (Matthew 5:43–44)• “If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all” (Romans 12:18)📺 WATCH NEXT:If this message moved you, watch these related videos:"Warn Your Children Before It's Too Late (A Priest's Urgent Message)" https://youtu.be/HrWqUf1MJkM"I Almost DIED Choking - What God Showed Me Will CHANGE Your Life" https://youtu.be/0pjAL44OHgk"Feeling Alone? Without This, You Can't Call Yourself a Christian

Jesus said forgive 77 times. Most Catholics have never been told what that number means — or why God forgives so easily when we can't. Father Alfonse explains the one belief behind every grudge you're still holding.✝️ Why the Mass opens with "I confess" and moves straight to "Glory to God" — and what that order teaches about mercy✝️ What "77 times" actually means in Hebrew (and why the devil is 666)✝️ The double standard we all keep: one for ourselves, another for everyone else✝️ Resentment means "to feel again" — why replaying a hurt poisons you, not them✝️ God forgives you because He believes you have a future. When you can't forgive, it's because you don't.⏱️ TIMESTAMPS:0:00 – Why the Mass begins with "I Confess"1:15 – The servant who forgot he was forgiven2:00 – What 77 (and 666) really mean4:00 – The real reason God forgives you4:50 – Resentment: the poison you keep drinking5:45 – Jesus called Peter "Satan" — and let him keep the keys6:40 – Father's road rage confession7:30 – The plank, the splinter, and why nobody's eye is clean8:20 – "You have helped to recreate me"🙏 PRAYER REFLECTION:Lord, You looked at Peter after his worst moment and said, "You're better than that." Help me see the people who hurt me the way You see me — not as they were on their worst day, but as who they could still become. Give me the courage to stop replaying the wound.📖 SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:Sirach 27:30–28:7 – "Wrath and anger are hateful things, yet the sinner hugs them tight"Psalm 103 – "The Lord is kind and merciful, slow to anger, rich in compassion"Romans 14:7-9 – "None of us lives for oneself"Matthew 18:21-35 – The unforgiving servant; "not seven times but seventy-seven times"Matthew 16:18-23 – Peter receives the keys; "Get behind me, Satan"Matthew 7:3-5 – The plank and the splinter🎯 THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE:Name the one person whose offense you replay most. Each time it comes back this week, stop and say out loud: "Today wasn't their best day. Tomorrow can be better." By Sunday, reach out — a text, a call, a visit. Not to settle the account. Break Free from the past: how to find grace again

Why does God keep forgiving you, over and over, no matter how many times you fall? Father Alfonse got the answer in the confessional this week, at the exact moment he was struggling to stay awake. What God showed him will change the way you look at the one person you cannot forgive. In this Sunday homily on Ezekiel 33, Romans 13, and Matthew 18, Father Alfonse admits he was going through the motions while hearing confessions, describes the decision that snapped him out of it, and shares a message he had never preached before: God forgives us because He believes we have a future. And the reason we withhold forgiveness from others is that we have quietly decided they will never change. If you are carrying a grudge, a regret, or a past you cannot put down, this eight-minute homily is for you.✝️ Silence is not neutral: Ezekiel says God holds us responsible when we fail to speak up for someone who is going the wrong way ✝️ "Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another" sounds easy until you learn that love means to give AND to forgive ✝️ One of the hardest penances Father Alfonse ever gave was three words: "Love your mother" ✝️ A priest confesses he was falling asleep in the confessional, and why "I'm here but I'm not here" is the most dangerous way to live ✝️ God forgives your past for one reason: He believes in your future ✝️ The real reason you cannot forgive someone is that you have stopped believing they can change⏱️ TIMESTAMPS: 0:00 – We are here to help, not to hurt 0:33 – Ezekiel: God will hold you responsible for your silence 1:27 – "Owe nothing to anyone" (except everything) 1:44 – The hardest penance: "Love your mother" 2:20 – What love actually means: to give and to forgive 2:34 – Matthew 18: Do whatever it takes to reach your brother 3:08 – Why we fall asleep on what matters most 4:09 – Father Alfonse's confession: going through the motions 5:05 – Snap out of it: Either be here or leave 5:44 – The decision that opened the door to God's voice 6:11 – Why God forgives us so many times 6:44 – The real reason we cannot forgive others 7:17 – Forgive your past, believe in your future🙏 PRAYER REFLECTION: Lord, You have forgiven me more times than I can count, not because I earned it, but because You still believe in who I can become. Give me the courage to stop living "here but not here," to wake up to Your voice today, and to see the people who have hurt me the way You see me: not as their worst moment, but as someone with a future. Help me forgive my past and trust You with what comes next.🎯 THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE: Name one person you have not forgiven. Write their name down. Next to it, write one specific way they could be better a year from now than they are today. Then pray that sentence for them every morning this week. You do not have to call them yet. You only have to start believing they have a future, because that is exactly how God treats you.💬 Who came to mind when Father Alfonse said "we don't believe that person can change"? Stop Choosing Comfort. It Will Crucify You Anyway.

Peter tried to talk Jesus out of the cross. He meant it with love. Jesus turned and called him Satan.Ten minutes earlier, this was the man Christ named the rock of His Church. So why the rebuke? Because Peter was offering Jesus the one thing that would have destroyed Him: an easier way out. In this homily, Father Alfonse shares what a retreat director told him the night before his ordination — words he still remembers almost thirty years later — and then delivers the sentence that closes every exit: you are going to carry a cross either way. Comfort has one too. The only question left is which one you choose.Stay to the end for what he says while pointing at the crucifix. It reframes the whole thing.✝️ Why Jesus rebuked Peter minutes after blessing him — and what "get behind me, Satan" actually means ✝️ Jeremiah's shocking accusation against God: "You duped me, Lord" — and why Father Alfonse loves that verse ✝️ The retreat director's warning the night before ordination: "Tomorrow you will be crucified with Christ" ✝️ Why ninth graders waiting to be asked to homecoming reveal something about all of us ✝️ The teeter-totter: how the slide from conviction to convenience begins ✝️ "Beautiful does not mean pretty" — what the crucifix teaches about the cost of being worth it🙏 PRAYER REFLECTION: Lord, I have spent a long time trying to arrange a life You never promised me — one without cost, without embarrassment, without the sting of being misunderstood for loving You. Teach me that the cross I run from and the cross I choose are the same weight, and only one of them means anything. When I am tempted to go quiet about You, let the fire You put in me be stronger than my fear of looking foolish. Here I am, Lord. I come to do Your will.📖 SCRIPTURE REFERENCES: Jeremiah 20:7–9 — "You duped me, O LORD, and I let myself be duped" Psalm 63:2–9 — "My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God" Romans 12:1–2 — "Do not conform yourselves to this age" Matthew 16:21–27 — "Get behind me, Satan... whoever loses his life for my sake will find it" Matthew 16:13–20 — Last Sunday's Gospel: "You are Peter, and upon this rock"🎯 THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE: Father Alfonse names two places where we go silent: the workplace and the school lunch table. Pick the one that applies to you. This week, make the Sign of the Cross before you eat — in the break room, in the cafeteria, at the restaurant table with coworkers — without hiding it, without waiting until nobody is looking, and without apologizing for it afterward. One meal, in public, every day this week. Notice what rises in you before you do it. That feeling is the teeter-totter, and this is how you stay on top of it.💬 Which cross have you been carrying — the one you chose, or the one comfort handed you? The Secret Blueprint to Heaven Hidden in the Assumption

You don't have to settle for the minimum from your faith — or your life. In this homily for the Solemnity of the Assumption, Father Alfonse uses a restaurant, a crucifix, and his own conversion story to reveal the blueprint Mary left behind: a destiny where nothing you've suffered, and nothing you've lost, gets left out of the final picture.✝️ Mary's Assumption — body AND soul into heaven — proves that God doesn't leave anything behind, not even your wounds ✝️ Why "good food" isn't a good enough restaurant — and why a minimum faith isn't a good enough life ✝️ Real humility isn't about being nice and keeping the peace — it's what lets you actually get things done ✝️ There's a beauty in suffering: "The crucifix is ugly, but it's beautiful — because it means something" ✝️ Every decision is dangerous and thrilling — Mary's one "yes" is where her whole story began ✝️ Death, suffering, the grave, and every wound are not the last word. God is.🙏 PRAYER REFLECTION: Lord, help me stop settling for the minimum in my relationship with You. Like Mary, let me say yes to You even when it's dangerous or uncertain, trusting that You never waste a wound and never leave anything behind. Amen.📖 SCRIPTURE REFERENCES: Readings for the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Mass during the Day):Revelation 11:19a; 12:1–6a, 10ab — the woman clothed with the sunPsalm 45:10–12, 16 — "The queen stands at your right hand, arrayed in gold"1 Corinthians 15:20–27 — Christ's resurrection as the firstfruits of oursLuke 1:39–56 — the Visitation and Mary's Magnificat🎯 THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE: Identify one area where you've been settling for the "minimum" faith — showing up but not really praying, forgiving but not really letting go, believing but not really trusting. Stop Doubting God: How to Find His Love in Your Life Again

Link to donate: https://www.osvhub.com/maryimmaculatechurch/giving/funds/parish-hall-renewal-our-hall-our-homeYou doubt Him. You wonder if He even hears you. And in the noise of your own head — the criticism, the fear, the "you're not good enough" — it can feel like God has gone silent. But He hasn't. He was never in the noise to begin with. Fr. Alfonse unpacks the story of Elijah on the mountain and Peter sinking in the waves to show you exactly where God has been waiting for you to listen — and how to hear Him again.✝️ Elijah expects God in the wind, the earthquake, the fire — and finds Him instead in a quiet whisper✝️ Peter is the only one of twelve who steps out of the boat — "little faith" was actually the most faith in the room✝️ The real storm isn't outside you — it's the voice in your head saying you're a failure, a loser, not enough✝️ A CVS pill bottle warning label becomes an unexpected picture of how God's love is nothing like the world's fine print✝️ Peter's three-word prayer — "Lord, save me" — gets an immediate answer, and yours will too🙏 PRAYER REFLECTION:Lord, quiet the noise I keep mistaking for Your silence. Help me stop searching for You in the storm and start listening for You in the whisper — in the small, steady ways You've already shown me You care. When I start to sink, remind me that three words are enough: Lord, save me.📖 SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:1 Kings 19:9-13 — Elijah encounters God in a whisper, not the wind, earthquake, or fireRomans 9:1-5 — Paul's anguish and enduring love for his peopleMatthew 14:22-33 — Peter walks on water and calls out to Jesus to save him🎯 THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE:The next time a critical voice rises up in your head — "you're not enough," "you failed," "who do you think you are" — stop and name it out loud as the storm, not God's voice.
