    The Role of Indigenous Spirituality in Higher Education with Dr. Blair Stonechild

    In this episode I have a conversation with Dr. Blair Stonechild. Dr. Stonechild is a professor in Indigenous Studies at First Nations University in Regina, Saskatchewan. Our conversation is framed by his book, Challenge to Civilization: Indigenous Wisdom and the Future. Dr. Stonechild shares his views on how Indigenous Spirituality can impact teaching and research in universities. Blair shares his journey in education, including being a residential school survivor. He challenges civilization and the pinnacle of what we have produced. This was a very enjoyable conversation for me, and I feel that Blair brings a valuable perspective to the conversation of how we move forward in the academy.     In this episode, host Johnathan Bevan speaks with the Director of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) at the University of Manitoba.     Ethics in the Academy with Dr. Karen Houle

    In this episode Johnathan Bevan and co-host and colleague Gerardo Villagran speak with Dr. Karen Houle. Karen takes us on a journey into the heart of ethics in the academy. Dr, Houle is a retired associate professor of philosophy at Guelph University. She draws on her years of experience applying ethics across a variety of disciplines as well as in her own pedagogical practice to manifest an image of ethical actions we can all aspire to.     Accessibility with Dr. Ann Gagné

    In this episode, host Johnathan Bevan and our delightful guest Dr. Ann Gagné discuss accessibility and inclusive practices in higher education, with emphasis on implementing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and trauma-informed pedagogy across various educational settings. The discussion explored challenges faced by sessional instructors and the importance of fostering relationality and meaningful engagement, while highlighting the need to move beyond siloed approaches to accessibility. The conversation concluded with reflections on community building in academia and visions for future learning spaces that prioritize human interaction and de-siloing.
