Lindsey Graham Did More for Who?

This week on Uncertain, DL Hughley opens the mailbag — and then closes the beaches. After the death of Nolan Wells on Horn Island and a summer of Black men turning up in trees and rivers with "no foul play suspected," DL makes the case nobody wants to say out loud: part of Jim Crow had a point. Marriage? Fine. Family reunions? Fine. But no swimming, no camping, no hiking — because we never lose white people, and there’s a reason for that. From the mother who had to track down her own son’s phone, to officials who "don’t want to be rushed," DL, Jasmine and Austin ask why there’s never a sense of urgency when Black children don’t come home. Then it’s ICE killing a man in Maine who wasn’t even the target of the warrant — no body cams, no accountability, and a batting average that would get anybody else fired; Amy Coney Barrett wanting a bulletproof vest in the country her Court armed ("you made guns easier to buy than Sudafed"); Mitch McConnell missing so long DL can’t tell if he’s dead or alive — with the finest insurance in the world, the kind he spent his career denying you; and Lindsey Graham’s eulogy problem: to eulogize means to speak well of — of what? DL closes with the World Cup, why every great team in Europe is stocked with the descendants of the colonized, why the road to the World Cup final runs through the Blackest city in America, and a shanked golf shot hit on purpose — for Charlie’s boy, on the eighth anniversary of his old man’s passing. Weekend at Mitch's — Somebody Check on Mitch McConnell

America turned 250 and celebrated the only way it knows how: a few hundred masked white nationalists riding the Metro to the Capitol. DL breaks down white supremacy on a budget — racists take the train too — why you can't tell the Patriot Front from the ICE agents (they shop at the same store, and they mask up for the same reason), and the cosmic karma of MAGA families sheltering from the storm inside the Black History Museum. Then the question nobody at the White House would answer: on the nation's birthday, white nationalists marched on the Capitol — and the only people who won't denounce white supremacists are white supremacists. Plus Michael Dell's wife hits the White House, and DL learns what the "Lago look" is. Then it's the World Cup: Trump personally called FIFA and got Folarin Balogun's red card lifted — for the first time in 60 years — to save a striker who only exists because of the birthright citizenship he's trying to abolish. He fought to remove a red card for a man he wouldn't give a green card. From there: Trump's golden eagle and the Nazi bird it looks suspiciously like, Marco Rubio's big shoes, Graham Platner, Susan Collins, and the party that hates socialists more than it hates rapists. DL asks the question everybody in Kentucky is whispering — is Mitch McConnell having a Weekend at Bernie's? — before getting serious about Nolan Wells, the Mississippi teenager who went out on a boat with his white classmates and never came home, Kohen Wiley, and Marcellus Wiley's Fourth of July arrest. DL closes with the question his father asked him outside a liquor store on Imperial and Avalon — the same one he's asking America now: Aren't you tired? Clarence Thomas Is the Stephen A. Smith of the Supreme Court

DL is back and nobody is safe — not the Black Trump supporter who cornered him at a Chicago bus stop (and missed his bus AND the point), not Clarence Thomas, who DL calls “the Stephen A. Smith of the Supreme Court” after his 91-page dissent in the birthright citizenship ruling, and definitely not Megyn Kelly, who claims “we built this country” when her family didn’t clear customs until the party was over. As the Supreme Court hands down its 6-3 decision on the 14th Amendment, DL flips the script: if we’re closing the gate, let’s close it at 1868 — which means Stephen Miller, Vivek Ramaswamy, Brett Kavanaugh, and half of MAGA’s loudest voices are packing their bags. Then it’s on to the Court’s trans athlete ruling, JD Vance getting glazed on Bill Maher, Stephen A. Smith toasting Maher at his Mark Twain Prize like one professional you-know-what to another, and Mamdani putting every mayor in America to shame while the Knicks bring a title back to New York for the first time in 53 years. Plus: DL falls asleep everywhere but on the issues. This episode is sponsored by: Shopify — Start your business today with the industry’s best partner. Austin Metcalf's Dad Says Black Jurors Can't Be Fair — DL Hughley Isn't Having It

In this episode of Uncertain, DL Hughley opens on a president who started a war but can't clean a pool — the vandalized reflecting pool, the peroxide, and what it says that the country swearing it can beat Iran can't beat algae — before getting into the "two Americas" gap between the detective who called DL back about a storage locker and the bank fraud nobody ever called Alex about. From there DL, Jasmine, and Alex take on Jeff Metcalf's post-verdict media tour and the racial double standard buried in jury selection: the claim that only one kind of person can be fair, the preemptive strikes used overwhelmingly against Black jurors, and the long roll call — Fanny Willis, Letitia James, Sunny Hostin, the Black judge in the Botham Jean case — that proves Black America has never had a problem meting out justice to its own. DL breaks down the CDC data that buries the absent-father myth, then turns to the bigger question on the week America turns 250: Eddie Glaude saying out loud that he doesn't love this country, the Fourth of July lie we all agree to tell each other, and what it means to love something the way you'd love an abusive parent — the only one you've got. Then it's Bill Maher calling the Obama library a "monument to arrogance," and DL explaining why, in an era of erasure, that building might be the only proof this man ever existed — and why Black people are, in fact, going to hike. DL Hughley GOES OFF on Spencer Pratt, Bill Maher & Stephen A. Smith

DL Hughley is back, and this week the Temu Trump came for LA — and LA said no. DL breaks down Karen Bass's primary win over Spencer Pratt, why Los Angeles was never going to elect a mayor named Spencer, and how a city bigger than 40 states became the target of a DOJ investigation for counting too slow. Plus: the homelessness money nobody can find, who's really stealing it (hint: it ain't poor people), and why rich people don't want to solve homelessness — they just don't want to see it. Then DL torches Bill Maher for being the only comedian thirsty enough to take a Mark Twain Award from a man who got Colbert canceled, goes in on Stephen A. Smith for speaking up for the Knicks but not the people, and asks what context Nick Cannon could possibly be missing. And in the wake of the Karmelo Anthony verdict, DL lays out what stand your ground really means — and who it was built for. Kevin Hart Protected Everyone Except His Own People

In this episode of Uncertain, DL Hughley pours one out for Rob Base before getting into the most contentious writers' room the show has ever had. Two weeks in, the panel still can't let go of the Kevin Hart Roast, and DL stakes out the unpopular ground: a comedian should never apologize for a joke, let alone one he didn't tell. But Jasmine, Austin, and Alex aren't having it — if Hart cut 18 jokes to protect everyone from Melania to the military to Tony Hinchcliffe, why was George Floyd the one line he wouldn't draw? Tom Brady stopped his own roast. Hart had the power and chose the numbers. From there, DL breaks down Cheyenne Bryant and why a Black woman with a PhD still gets asked for her credentials the way Tucker Carlson asked Ketanji Brown Jackson for her SAT scores. Then the throughline lands: the LA mayor's race pitting Karen Bass against a game show host, why homelessness lives wherever the billionaires do, and why this administration's one real accomplishment is showing exactly how much this country will tolerate — if you're white. A n***a can't even wear a tan suit. DL says it plain: infamy is better than fame, and somebody always cashes the check.
