Knowing God as Alpha and Omega: Is This What You’re Missing?

Alpha and Omega- The beginning and the end. God has always existed, He did not start existing when time began. If you really think about it, for something to be created, the creator of that thing must come from outside- in, not inside-out. In other words, the one who creates things is outside of the thing he is creating. The scripture in Genesis 1:1 tells us that in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. That clearly tells us that God existed before the creation of the heavens and the earth. I want to invite you to a beautiful glorious place that is covered with Light- the presence of God. We are looking at Him from what HE called Himself. The Alpha and the Omega which means the First and the Last, the Author and the Finisher. We will worship him today, on this podcast in Spirit and in truth but before we do that, I want you to understand something. For you to truly worship God, it has to come from a revelation of who He is. Quick question? Would you rather have someone love you the way they want or the way you want? For me, I rather have someone love me the way I want to be loved. In like manner, We do not worship God the way we want based on our preconceived idea of who we think he is. No. We seek Him in His word and as we do so, we see His nature, sovereignty, we get very familiar with the knowledge of this ever loving God who gave up himself for our sake. Isaiah 44:6 Thus says the Lord , the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god. Let’s sit with that for a moment. Before God introduced Himself as the First and the Last, He called Himself Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts, and then He said I am the first and I am the last; why did He say that? So that Israel at this time will recognise that ‘besides Him, there is no god’. The revelation of God being First and Last lies in understanding that there is only one true God in three persons- God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is the one true God and besides Him, There is no god. Paul when writing to the church in Colossae, said in Colossians 1:17 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. As Christians, we are not idol worshippers, we did not create our God like idol worshippers do, who carve wood and cut stones and bow to it. No. The Alpha and the Omega created us to proclaim His praise. Lord Jesus in Revelation 1:8 said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Hebrews 13:8 (ESV) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Please hear this, I believe this will bless someone who feels stuck and do not know how to trust God in this stage of their life where it seems as though the future looks dim and uncertain. God is your beginning and your end. In Him, you consist. Paul in Acts of the apostle said, ‘in him we move, we live and we have our being’ See, if created heaven and the earth for a purpose. He definitely created you and formed you into your mothers womb for a purpose. The one who holds your future knows exactly where you should be and what you should be doing per time per season. Let’s thank Him for life, for his presence I want to invite you to the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, who is able and willing to satisfy you with his water of life. Let God take care of you. Let him be your LORD- OWNER, and Your SAVIOUR. He wants to save and lead you in this life. He is your beginning and your end. Please do not live outside of Christ, it will cost you your life of eternity outside of Him. Come to Jesus today, if you are yet to accept him into your life. Ask Him to come into your life and your Lord and Savior and believe in your heart that he came in the flesh to save you. This is the best decision you will ever make in your life. To come into the kingdom of God, To have the Lord Jesus to be your Lord and Savior. And my prayer for you is that you will answer this call into God’s kingdom today. May God touch your heart and order your steps to Him. Amen. The song of praise….. I want us to thank God and you have to pardon my voice, we are going to sing a song and I pray that you see God as who He says He is - Alpha and Omega. In my Nigerian Igbo language, Alpha and Omega is Mmalite na Ogwugwu meaning the First and Last. Let Worship God from our Heart. ………. Thank you Jesus. ~Oma. This is a public episode. Are You Bearing Fruit? A Lesson from the Parable of the Sower

When we started this series, we saw from Scripture the importance of applying God’s word to our lives. I love that the Lord Jesus didn’t just tell us about the hearts that had problems, but He also told us about the hearts that accepted the word of God and the fruit of that. Today, we will look specifically at Matthew 13:8–9, 23. MATTHEW 13 “On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. 2 And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. 3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: ‘Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. 5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. 8 But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear.’” The Parable of the Sower Explained 18 “Therefore hear the parable of the sower: 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. 20 But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. 22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. 23 But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” Upon preparing this message, I realized that there is fellowship, a union, a marriage between understanding and fruitfulness. If you try to divorce them, to separate this union, the result is unfruitfulness. We will look at what fruitfulness means as we progress in this podcast, but at this junction, let us brush up our knowledge on understanding. We talked about it in the first episode, where we discussed the seeds planted by the wayside. “who hears the word and understands it,” UNDERSTANDING—In ancient Greek, understanding was not just about hearing facts. Instead, it is the act of connecting the dots and applying the word of God to your life. It takes place through internal processing: pondering, reflecting, and allowing the truth to sink into your personal reality so that it makes sense to you. When Jesus said, “he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty,” He is saying that when someone hears the “word of the kingdom” (the gospel, the message of God’s reign) and brings it together, connects it to their life, and grasps its true value, that person will bear fruit. The Marriage of Understanding and Fruitfulness Once you understand God’s word to you, you will apply it to your life in obedience and keep watering it with His word, and you will bear fruit. “But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” This tells you that God’s word to us works in and through us. And I mentioned the fruits we were talking about last episode—Galatians 5:22–23: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” In other words, fruitfulness here is both God’s work in us, as we saw in Galatians 5:22, and also obedience to God’s word. it is the Holy Spirit’s inward work in us that we bear/carry outwardly. Apostle Paul in Philippians 2:12–13: “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” What does this look like for you and me? As children of God, His word to us is not a suggestion. You do not hear His word and think, “Oh, this is meant for someone else.” You do not pick and choose the words that apply to you. The whole counsel of God is what you should know and do. Paul in Acts 20:27 said, “for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.” In other words, Paul is saying, “I have preached to you the message of the gospel in all its fullness.” That means even the “hard topics” were preached to you. So, even as we hear and believe the message of the gospel, let us see to it that we do not just hear, but we do. James 1:22–25: “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.” So if God said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, spirit, soul, and might and love your neighbor as yourself,” or “Forgive one another,” it is not a suggestion. It is a command, and the earlier we understand that God’s word to us is for doing and not just for knowing, the better for us. Jesus in John 14:15 said, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” So you see that bearing fruit is not a feeling. You do not just think about loving God or forgiving that person; you actually do it. God rewards obedience, not feelings, and I understand the place of forgiveness and taking a long time to rebuild trust. That is how you bear fruit, and guess what? As you bear fruit, God the Father, the vinedresser, continues to prune you to bear much fruit. In other words, the work of God in and through us is not only for a season; it is for life because that fruit is actually a result of the vine you are grafted into—Jesus is the vine, and His work in and through you continues until you see Him face to face. In Conclusion The word of God will not grow and bear fruit on the wayside, the hard place, or the thorny place. No, it bears fruit in good soil, and you are that good soil—that tender heart of yours that is always ready to allow God to work in and through you. Your obedience to His word is what yields fruitfulness. So what is that thing God has been telling you to do that you have yet to do? * Give your life to Him? * Love that neighbor? * Forgive that “enemy”? * Give to that kingdom assignment? * Preach to that someone? If you have yet to obey, I beg you to start today. Fruitfulness is in the place of obedience because the true evidence of understanding someone’s words to you is that you act upon them, and I pray that God will empower you to continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. You are not working for your salvation, but from your salvation—meaning you are showing forth the evidence of being saved through your acts of obedience to God’s word. ~OMA. Are Your Thorns are Choking God’s word?: Lessons from Parable of the Sower

THORNY PLACE I believe this series has been a blessing. It has blessed me so much and I hope it blessed you as well. The scripture tells us that the word of God is living and active, in the book of Prophet Isaiah, God referred to his word as a seed. So far, we heard that this living word, this seed from God can be snatched by the enemy and if the heart is a hard place, its work can be limited because it didn’t take deep roots to grow and today we will see that the word of God can be choked. There was a day God spoke to me with this parable of the sower and I saw myself in all of them; The wayside, the hard place, the thorns, and the good soil and frankly, I am learning everyday to have God’s word in me so He can do his work in and through me. So when I talk about this thorny place episode, I pray I am not speaking from up there, and I hope you see my heart. I have had my fair share of worrying and today we will look at how it affects God’s word and what I believe you can do be delivered from the thorny place. You are officially welcome to this podcast, …. Here, we behold Jesus through his word, having seeing, hearing ears and yielding heart to do the will of the Father. I am glad you are here, may God keep you in his light. Anchor MATTHEW 13 ‘On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. 2 And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. 3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow. 9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear. The Parable of the Sower Explained 18 “Therefore hear the parable of the sower: 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. 23 But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. …And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. THORNS-cares of this world/ deceitfulness of riches. First, I am led to say that the needs of life; food, clothing and shelter are necessary for survival, God knows that. In regards to food, In Genesis 1:29 ‘And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. In the very next chapter we see God make for Adam and his wife garments of skins and clothed them. So, you see that from scripture those things you need that very quickly causes you to worry God cares about them more than you know and He provides them for you. Adam did not tell God he was hungry before God gave Him food and even when Adam made fig leaves for a covering, God changed it, using the skin of a lamb, even then preaching the message of the gospel. In Matthew chapter 6, where the Lord Jesus taught his disciples what to pray, He mentioned in the prayer that ‘God should ‘give us this day our daily bread’. All this is so you can see that God is not alien to our needs. I am saying this to get you to a place where you will understand that even before you ask for your daily needs for survival or the desires of your heart, God cares about them too. In Matthew 6:25-34 New International Version 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]? 28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:25-34 The Message 25-26 “If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds. 27-29 “Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? All this time and money wasted on fashion—do you think it makes that much difference? Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them. 30-33 “If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. 34 “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. Deceitfulness of wealth In Matthew 19:16-30 A rich young man came to Jesus with a question about eternal life and when Jesus responded, he was disappointed and he went away. The Rich Young Man 16 And behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” 17 And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” 18 He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, 19 Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 The young man said to him, “All these I have kept. What do I still lack?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 22 When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. 23 And Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” 25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” 26 But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” 27 Then Peter said in reply, “See, we have left everything and followed you. What then will we have?” 28 Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, in the new world,[b] when the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold[c] and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and the last first. About the deceitfulness of Wealth, I remember Jesus’ statement in Luke 12:15, He said, ‘Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions. The son of the living God, the creator of the heavens and the earth. He who made all things, came down from heaven and he is telling you and I not to worry about possessions and to not lust after them, why do you think he s

Overcoming Hardness of the Heart: Lessons from Parable of the Sower

THE ROCKY GROUND/A HARD PLACE What:The Parable of the Sower On the last episode of this series, the sower series, we talked about seeds sown along the way side which anchored on Jesus’s teaching on the parable of the sower. And the understanding of that scripture through Jesus’ explanation led us into knowing that when we hear the word of God and we fail to integrate his word into our heart, the enemy will come and snatch that word. The solution to that, is to meditate on God’s word, ask God for understanding, seek godly counsel and pray, so the word of God can take root and bear fruit. It was a wonderful time and I was really blessed by that message and I hope you were as well. Today’s message will focus on seed sown on the rocky ground. From this you can already tell what that looks like, stony, hard, impenetrable and unyielding. The scary thing about this heart state is that it shows short term results, from the outside, it looks like it will do well, like the seed will survive but soon enough, you will find out that it takes a different route. Welcome officially to this week’s podcast, @ LTGE, we behold Jesus through his word, having seeing, hearing ears and yielding heart to do the will of the Father. I am glad you are here, may God keep you in his light. Anchor. MATTHEW 13 ‘On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. 2 And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. 3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow. 9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. I want you to take note of this: The word of God was received by this person. They heard it; they actually received it with joy. That is what Jesus meant when he said they immediately sprang up. See, it is not everything that springs up quickly that has roots. You heard the word of God—that promise, that rhema word that spoke to you at the moment—but after a short while... It was short because the state of the heart, mind, or spirit man did not have the word buried deep in it so it could take root and bear fruit. So, when you experienced something painful—pressure from parts of your life or relationship—you felt a crushing weight, and it felt as though you didn’t hear God in the first place. But you did. You heard God, and now pain, pressure, trials, and tribulations are speaking louder than the word of God you heard. After a short while, you notice a stumbling—a trap. You begin to go back to the things God delivered you from; you fall for those things that you know are against God. See, the rocky ground in this text doesn’t mean a soil full of loose, scattered rocks. No, it refers to a place with a thin layer of topsoil sitting directly over a solid, unbroken shelf of rock. From the outside, the ground looks promising, but the danger is that there is no depth. The place is not favorable to God’s word. The result of that is being driven by the emotion of the moment rather than deep conviction from God’s word. Why In the last episode we saw that it was Satan that snatched the word of God from the heart of the person who did not understand or apply God’s word into their life. But in this episode we see that it is the hardness of heart that gives no room for deep rooting of the word that causes this person to stumble. One thing is sure, trials, tribulation, persecution will surely come, God never promised a life free from trials, Jesus said in John 16:33, “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” So they will show up but our disposition to them is what is important. What is your eyes on, on the trials or the one Who has overcome them. Jesus came to die for us so that we can be fully His. Not some parts of us but our entire life and it starts from the heart. If Jesus is not sitting on the throne of your heart? If you hear His words and you think, He is not talking to me or I heard it but I will do it my way, it means you have not completely surrendered to Him. Hebrew 3:12 -13 12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness HOW Receive Mercy Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Ask for a new heart Ezekiel 36:26 ‘I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh’. Abide ( John 15) “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. See, the mercy of God available to you when ask for it, A new heart is available to all you desire it and the word of God abides in them that seeks him. Your rocky heart can be changed by God, He is willing and able to show you mercy. Please run to Him today, today is the day of salvation. Let the Lord Jesus into your heart by confessing Him as Lord. Nothing is difficult for Him to do and I know that when his word abides/dwells in you, You will bear fruits. Galatians 5:22-23 says: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance [patience], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law” Thank you for spending time with me today. My name is Oma and this is Living through God’s eyes.
