Why it’s never too late to write your story | Travis Bagwell

What happens when the science fiction you wrote years ago starts looking a lot like reality? In this episode of The End Goal Podcast, I'm joined by Travis Bagwell, author of the LitRPG series Awaken Online, for a conversation that goes in just about every direction imaginable. We start with something Travis and I have in common: our backgrounds in accounting. But before long, we're talking about video games, writing, creativity, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and the future of storytelling. One of the things I loved about this conversation was getting to know Travis beyond his books. We dive into the inspiration behind Awaken Online, how his experience playing MMOs shaped the world he created, and why he wanted to tell a story that challenges the traditional ideas of heroes and villains. We also explore how AI and emerging technology are beginning to resemble concepts that once belonged entirely to science fiction. Travis shares his perspective on the opportunities and concerns surrounding AI, especially within the writing and publishing communities. And, of course, we get into the business of books: self-publishing, the growth of LitRPG, and the challenges of getting a genre recognized by traditional publishing. This is one of those conversations where we set out to talk about a book and end up talking about so much more. If you're a fan of Awaken Online, LitRPG, gaming, science fiction, or conversations about creativity and technology, I think you'll enjoy this one. —------- Welcome to The End Goal Podcast. Why Great Stories Are More Than Just Entertainment | John Bierce

What makes a fantasy story more than just a fun read? In this episode, I'm joined by John Bierce, author of the Mage Errant series, to talk about his journey from working at a grocery store to becoming a full-time fantasy author, the return of Mage Errant in hardcover, and what goes into creating a world readers can't put down. We dive into the magic systems, characters, relationships, and worldbuilding that make Mage Errant such an enjoyable series, but the conversation doesn't stop at fantasy. John and I also talk about finding your creative voice, overcoming imposter syndrome, why perfectionism can hold you back, and the importance of loving the process instead of obsessing over the results. We even get into the problems with traditional education, the self-improvement industry, productivity advice, and why there isn't one perfect way to work or grow. Because sometimes the best stories don't just entertain us. They give us something to think about long after we've finished reading. If you're a fantasy reader, aspiring writer, or someone trying to find your own creative path, I think you'll enjoy this conversation. What's a fantasy book that taught you something unexpected? What Advice Would I Give To Someone in Their 20s

If you could go back and talk to your 20-year-old self, what would you say? As I approach my 29th birthday, I've been reflecting on everything my twenties have taught me and all the things I wish I'd understood a little sooner. In this episode of The End Goal Podcast, I'm sharing the advice I'd give my younger self, from continuing to make friends and saying yes to new experiences to taking better care of relationships, finding my voice, understanding money, and reading more books. We also talk about accepting that some friendships are only meant for certain seasons, following the things that genuinely interest you, and realizing that growing up doesn't mean having everything figured out. Because maybe your twenties aren't about becoming the perfect version of yourself. Maybe they're about figuring out who you want to be in the first place. What advice would you give your 20-year-old self? —------- Welcome to The End Goal Podcast. Why Do We Need to Talk About Mental Health?

October is Mental Health Month, a reminder that sometimes one of the most important things we can do is simply talk about what we’re going through. In this special compilation, we look back at conversations with guests who have opened up about their experiences and perspectives on mental health, from processing difficult emotions and learning to ask for help to anxiety, vulnerability, coping, therapy, self-care, and the ways we sometimes distract ourselves from what we’re really feeling. These conversations are different because mental health looks different for everyone. There isn’t one experience, one solution, or one way to navigate the difficult moments in our lives. One message connects all of these conversations: we need to keep talking about mental health. October may give us a reason to highlight these conversations, but they matter every month of the year. —------- Welcome to The End Goal Podcast. Why Are We Still Banning Books?

With Banned Books Week approaching, I'm taking a closer look at book bans, censorship, and the thousands of titles being challenged across the country. In this episode of The End Goal Podcast, I break down some of the most challenged books, the reasons behind their removal, the rise of organized efforts to challenge books, and the difficult question of what young readers should have access to. I also get into parental responsibility, age-appropriate content, LGBTQIA+ stories, and whether removing a book is really the answer when difficult topics inevitably exist outside the library too.You don't have to agree with me. But I think it's worth asking: Why are we banning books, and is there a better way to handle the conversations we're trying to avoid?

Why Are There Less Men Publishing Books? | Tim Facciola

Are male authors actually disappearing or is publishing finally becoming more diverse? In this episode, Tim is back on The End Goal Podcast to talk about the changing publishing world, why fewer men are reading fiction, our shrinking attention spans, and whether we're actually engaging with books or simply consuming as much content as possible. We also get into male loneliness, book clubs, vulnerability, and why reading and shared hobbies might give men something many are missing: genuine community. Because maybe the goal isn't just to read more books. Maybe it's to connect, think deeper, and actually get something from them. —------- Welcome to The End Goal Podcast. Why Your Lowest Point Can Change Your Life | Kevin

Two years ago, Kevin never imagined his life would look the way it does today. After reaching one of the lowest points of his life, Kevin made the decision to change. In this episode of The End Goal Podcast, we talk about his journey through sobriety, faith, starting over, finding a new community through martial arts, falling in love, and preparing to become a father. We also get into complacency, therapy, learning to be present, finding purpose, and why it's never too late to become a different version of yourself. Kevin's story is a reminder that your lowest point doesn't have to be where your story ends. Why the Best Conversations Have No Plan | Town Hall #0

Welcome to Town Hall Episode 0 — basically, what happens when four friends turn a Discord call into a podcast. For the first Town Hall, I’m joined by Canvas, Kevin, and Frankie as we sit down, catch up, ask each other random questions, and see where the conversation takes us. We talk about everything from figuring out what capture cards actually do and building realistic morning routines to where we get our news, whether unbiased news even exists, the accents we'd steal if we could, and the games we've been playing lately. There isn't one big topic or serious lesson here. It's just Canvas, Kevin, Frankie, and me catching up, sharing what we've been into lately, and having the kind of random conversation you'd normally hear in the group chat or Discord call. Welcome to Town Hall. —------- Welcome to The End Goal Podcast.
