The Chandelier: Plugged In to Shine

Hey Y'all, there's a giant, fragile box sitting on my back porch. It's been in my way for two weeks. From the outside it looks like nothing but cardboard and a "FRAGILE" sticker, but inside is the most beautiful chandelier, just waiting to be connected to its power source so it can light up the whole room. And sweet sister, the Lord used that box to read my mail. Recording from beside the river with my little dog in my lap and the fall leaves rustling, I'm getting real honest about my love affair with productivity. Am I running 100 miles an hour because God called me to, or because I'm trying to prove my worth? I'm unpacking the guilt I felt after a two-hour nap, the sneaky pride of "look what I got done today," and the false humility of shrinking back and asking to be invisible. Both of those are boxes, and I don't want to live in them anymore. God showed me I can't shine His light unless I'm plugged in to the Power Source, and that's Jesus. Rest isn't laziness. Rest is a gift He hands us to unbox. It's saying, "Lord, I can't do it all by myself." "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. — Isaiah 55:8 (NKJV) Word Study: In Isaiah 55:11, God promises His word "shall not return to Me void." The Hebrew word for void is rêyqâm (Strong's H7387), meaning empty-handed, in vain, without effect. It's the picture of coming back with nothing. God's word never comes back to Him empty-handed! And when you're plugged in to Him, your life won't be empty either. It'll accomplish exactly what He sent it to do. I'm also sharing about two young men renovating our house, one covered head to toe in tattoos of John 3:16 and angels, and why I want to be God's "yes girl" who leaves a legacy where people don't remember my name. They just walk away wanting to know Jesus. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." — Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) A Prayer for You:
Father, thank You for the gift of rest. Forgive us for the times we've measured our worth by our to-do lists. Plug us in to You, Jesus, our true https://a.co/d/0gIcfuWB Power Source. Unbox every one of us who's been hiding out of fear or woundedness, and let us shine Your light so bright that people don't see us, they see You. Your word will not return void in our lives. In Jesus' name, amen. Grab your coffee, find a quiet spot, and let's unbox the beauty of rest together. 💙 Get the book unboxing Blu here Listen to the audible version here Join me on TikTok Join me on Instagram See what’s going down on the Unboxing Blu YouTube Share this with someone who needs some love and unboxing goodness that God might wanna help them through. The Water Closet Revelation

Hey Y'all. I was standing in the shower, rinsing conditioner out of my hair, and God dropped a whole sentence into my heart before it ever made it to my mouth. And of course my first thought was "I need to record this" — while dripping wet, dogs barking, blinds wonky, the whole nine. This episode is unfiltered. Dogs, skincare, a twisted necklace, a praying mantis on my bed at 3 AM — and somewhere in the middle of all that mess, God still spoke. Because He doesn't wait for us to get it together before He shows up. I get real with you about 18 years of marriage without ever straying — not even a flirt — and how that's not because I'm strong, it's because God changed a wretched woman into someone who could stay faithful. I talk about surrender, about the moment God gently says "it's time" to let something go, and about Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV): "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." God's not asking for a nod. He's asking us to actually walk with Him through it. If your marriage needs prayer, if your family needs prayer, if you're tired of walking the same mountain over and over — this one's for you, sister. Grab your coffee, or your bathrobe, and let's go together. One Mile of Gas and a Whole Lot of God

Y’all, this one is a testimony start to finish. My friend Hannah McDonald and I sat down 48 hours into a weekend that was absolutely marinated in God-moments, and we’re unboxing every single one of them — starting with the time we rolled into a random gas station on ONE MILE of gas left in the tank. One mile, y’all. But that gas station just happened to have a prayer shack with walls covered in a hundred handwritten prayers, and the number ONE showing up everywhere we turned all night long. Coincidence? We don’t think so. We talk about what Hannah calls “reading God’s language” — learning to recognize His voice and His leading even when the plan falls apart, even when a 75-minute drive turns into three hours. We dig into the difference between expectation and anticipation, why rest isn’t something you have to earn, and why our worth was never tied to how much we accomplished in a day. Psalm 32:8 says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye” (NKJV). “Instruct” here— it means to be prudent, to give insight, to cause someone to act wisely. And “guide” comes from the root meaning “counsel with My eye” — an intimate, watchful leading, not a distant command. That’s exactly what this whole weekend felt like: God not shouting directions from far off, but walking close enough to wink at us the whole way. We close it out with a prayer of faith over you, the listener, because that’s still my favorite gift to give. Come get unboxed with us. Also make sure to give Hannah some follows. Not “Just” Anything: Unboxing Your God-Given Worth

Y’all, I’m coming to you straight from the car, fresh out of a church gathering where the fire of God was moving in a serious way. And on my drive home — GPS rerouting me and all — the Lord started unpacking something in me about identity and calling. Here’s the thing I keep hearing, and maybe you’ve heard it too: “I’m just a nanny.” “I’m just a custodian.” “I’m just a homemaker.” “I’m just the librarian.” Baby, there is no “just” in the Kingdom of God. Ephesians 2:10 says we are His workmanship — and I want to pull back the curtain on that word for a second, You are not an accident. You are not a placeholder. You are God’s masterpiece, His work of art, crafted on purpose for good works He prepared for you long before you ever doubted yourself. I also get real with you about my own mess this week — running behind on my yearly Bible reading, prioritizing everything but time with Jesus, and how the best seasons of my life have never been about where I was (Tahiti or the grocery store, don’t matter) but about how close I was walking with Him. Plus a little detour into my Southern drawl, the folks in South Dakota who weren’t kind about it, and why grace — not perfection — is what makes this podcast worth sharing. This one’s raw, it’s imperfect, and it’s real. And honey, that’s exactly why you need to hear it.
