Ep 12 - How did America create a nation of investors, while Britain remained a nation of savers?

Britain has plenty of capital. What it lacks is the confidence to use it. In this episode of the Investor Summit Green Room, Stacey Parsons, Managing Director of RetailBook, sits down with Katie Martin, Markets Columnist at the Financial Times and co-host of the Unhedged podcast. Together they ask why Brits will happily talk about house prices, the weather and the football, but never about investing. They cover: • Why so much UK money sits in savings accounts and Premium Bonds • How warnings, jargon and ever-changing ISA rules put people off • What the UK can learn from America's investment culture, and what it should leave behind • Crypto as a "lottery ticket", and the case for a balanced, long-term portfolio • Rebuilding trust in financial services and telling better stories about British companies Nothing in this episode is investment advice. Charles Hall, Head of Research at Peel Hunt (LON:PEEL) joins us on the Investor Summit Green Room podcast. Peel Hunt have 40 analysts covering 350 UK companies, and are Financial Advisers to over 140 companies, including an increasing number of private ones, looking at all the sectors and market cap sizes. “One of the most surprising things is that the UK economy has been remarkably resilient in recent years, with compound growth of 1%. Secondly, that I see more exciting private companies now than at any time in my career.” Charles will be moderating a panel on the UK’s tech Unicorns at the Investor Summit 2026 (www.investorsummit.co.uk) and firmly believes that what UK companies need most is ready access to growth capital. Ep 8 - Booming financial markets & M&A mean banks are making good money says Polar Cap’s Nick Brind

Nick Brind, Co-Fund Manager at Polar Capital Global Financials Trust (LON:PCFT) joins us to run his seasoned eye over the global Financial Services sector – banks, asset managers, Stock Exchanges and online payment businesses. In Nick’s words, the financials sector hums with the economy and the financial markets, and in that sense it is in a very good place. The sector greases the wheels of the global economy, and at 15% is the second largest sector globally after Tech and ahead of Healthcare. Although banks are essentially a long-term value play, Nick sees an opportunity in pricing volatility driven by tariffs and the Middle East war – so long as the financial markets remain unspooked. Nick Brind, Co-Fund Manager at Polar Capital Global Financial Trust (LSE:PCFT) was interviewed by Donald Leggatt About the Podcast: The Investor Summit Green Room is our podcast for active investors. As we look forward to our annual Investor Summit conference at ‘The Brewery’ on September 18th 2026 (www.investorsummit.co.uk), we invite our favourite Fund Managers, economists and financial journalists to grace the Green Room studio and share their wisdom. Ep 7 - Temple Bar’s Ian Lance returned 250% over 5 years - Hear his value investing philosophy here

If you think the sleepy UK stock market couldn’t possibly outperform the surging returns of the tech driven S&P, let us introduce you to one of Britain’s most successful value investing teams. Ian Lance and his Co-Portfolio Manager Nick Purves run £7 billion worth of money at Managers Redwheel. The Temple Bar Investment Trust is managed by Ian and Nick, and has returned 250% over 5 years, beating it’s FTSE All Share benchmark (115%) and even the S&P 500 (103%). Their philosophy sounds simple: find mispriced stocks which remain good quality, but which have fallen out of favour by at least 50% of their intrinsic value, and invest for the long term. Ian joined us to celebrate Temple Bar’s centenary and a spectacular return to form for value investing. About the Podcast: The Investor Summit Green Room is our podcast for active investors.
