    Are You Actually Making Profit on Your Treatments? Why Your Treatment Timings Matter More Than You Think

    You might be fully booked but are you actually making a profit? In this episode, I’m talking about something every beauty professional needs to understand your treatment timings and how they directly affect what you’re actually earning. It’s so easy for appointments to start running over. Making drinks, chatting, clients taking ages to choose colours or nail art, spending too long on prep, stopping to answer messages or simply not having a clear structure to your appointment. Those extra 10, 20 or 30 minutes soon add up and suddenly the treatment you thought was making you good money could actually be paying you less than minimum wage once your product costs, overheads and time are taken into account. I also talk about why this is so important for lash artists, particularly when it comes to 2-week and 3-week infills. If a client comes back with more regrowth or fewer lashes remaining, that appointment requires more work and more time and your pricing and booking times need to reflect that. We’ll cover how to work out whether your treatments are genuinely profitable, where you could be losing valuable time during appointments, how to improve your timings without rushing your clients, and why clear boundaries around appointment times and infills are essential for a profitable beauty business. Because being busy doesn’t necessarily mean you’re making money.     The October & November Slump: How to Keep Clients Booking

    October and November can often be some of the quieter months in the beauty industry. Summer is over, Christmas hasn’t quite started, and suddenly you’re looking at gaps in your diary wondering where all your clients have gone. But a quieter diary doesn’t mean you have to just sit back and wait for December. In this episode, I’m sharing practical things you can start doing NOW to bring clients through the door, encourage existing clients to rebook and keep money coming into your business during those traditionally quieter weeks.     A few years ago, my working week was fully booked with beauty clients. Now? I can go an entire week without doing a single treatment — but I’m busier than ever

    What does my working week actually look like now that I’m no longer doing beauty treatments? In this episode, I’m taking you behind the scenes of a very different chapter of my life and business. After more than 20 years in the beauty industry and years spent juggling clients, a salon, training and family life, my weeks now look completely different. I’ve stepped away from treatments, but life definitely hasn’t slowed down! I’m sharing a real week with me — from the school run, gym and boxercise, to 1-1 beauty training, supporting my students and running my training academy, alongside becoming much more involved in managing our property portfolio and HMOs. I talk about everything that goes on behind the scenes of getting a five-bedroom HMO refurbished, compliant, advertised and ready for new tenants — the cleaning, furniture, viewings, tenancy agreements, maintenance issues and even spending three painful hours trying to get the internet back up and running!  There’s also the parts of my week that I’ve worked hard to create more space for — the gym, padel with the girls, my family and having more flexibility over how I spend my time. My career hasn’t stopped — it’s evolved.     What Happens When You Out Grow The Business You Built

    What happens when the business you once dreamed of building… no longer feels like the dream? In this episode, I’m talking about something that I don’t think we speak about enough in the beauty industry — outgrowing the business you worked so hard to create. After more than 22 years in the beauty industry, my business has changed so many times. I went from working full-time while building my client base, to being mobile, working from home, opening my own salon, becoming an educator and eventually making the decision to step away from treatments altogether. And one of the biggest things I’ve learnt is this: you’re allowed to change your mind. You can be incredibly proud of what you’ve built and still want something different. In this episode, I talk about recognising when your business no longer fits the life you want, why changing direction doesn’t mean you’ve failed, letting go of the guilt that can come with moving on, and how my own priorities have changed throughout different stages of my career.
