ZACH CREGGER’S RESIDENT EVIL: The Greatest Video Game Adaptation Ever? 🧟‍♂️

#ResidentEvil #ZachCregger #HorrorMovies #VideoGameMovies #Capcom #RaccoonCity #MovieReview #HypeCheck #Barbarian #Cinema #HypeCheckPlays #HypeCheckPod The director of Barbarian and Weapons took the keys to Raccoon City, and we went straight to the theatre. This week on Hype Check Pod, we are giving our raw, unfiltered, blind-reaction review of Zach Cregger’s brand new Resident Evil! Rich and Andy hit the cinema together for this one, while Dave caught an opening night screening on his own. And in true Hype Check Pod fashion, the three of us haven't spoken a single word about the movie since leaving the theatre. What you’re hearing in this episode is our genuine, real-time reaction to each other’s takes for the very first time! Cregger promised to bring pure survival horror, tension, and unhinged terror back to the franchise. But did his fresh take on Capcom's universe actually deliver? Is this the ultimate video game adaptation we’ve been begging for since 2002, or did the Barbarian filmmaker take things too far off the rails? WARNING: FULL SPOILER ZONE UNLOCKED AFTER OUR INITIAL THOUGHTS! 🩸 In This Episode: The Blind Reaction: Dave, Rich, and Andy hear each other's actual scores for the first time on air. The Non-Spoiler Verdict: Initial impressions on Cregger's atmosphere, visual design, and pacing compared to previous movie attempts. 🚨 SPOILER DEEP DIVE 🚨: *The Raccoon City Night:* Breaking down the sheer chaos, gore, and tension. *The Creature & Mutant Designs:* Practical effects, body horror, and how the monsters stack up to the Capcom games. *The Game Adaptation Test:* Did taking a fresh narrative route honour the spirit of the games better than a direct shot-for-shot remake? *The Final Score:* Where does Cregger’s vision rank on our 2026 Horror Leaderboard? This week, we packed our bags for the European vacation from hell to rewatch and honestly review 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home.   The big question hanging over this episode: Is this movie actually better than Homecoming? On one hand, you have the absolute brilliance of Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio, the insane illusion sequences, and a massive post-credit twist that changed the MCU forever.  On the other hand, just like Homecoming, the internet has spent years picking this movie apart for its heavy reliance on Tony Stark’s legacy and the EDITH glasses plot point. Has the online discourse dulled the impact of this billion-dollar blockbuster, or does it stand up as a top-tier action comedy?Do we still love this movie, or did the illusions wear off? 🧠 FIGHT CLUB 4K Review: Does David Fincher's Masterpiece Hold Up?

#FightClub #DavidFincher #4KUltraHD #PhysicalMedia #TylerDurden #MovieReview #HypeCheck #BradPitt #BluRay #Cinema 🥊 The first rule of Hype Check is: you definitely talk about the new 4K transfer. After all the importing headaches and pre-order stress, the highly anticipated Fight Club 4K UHD Blu-ray has finally landed on our shelves, and all three of us have cracked it open. Spoiler alert on the tech side: it looks absolutely stunning. David Fincher’s gritty, dark, neo-noir cinematography has never looked cleaner or more atmospheric. But shockingly, in all our time doing this show, we have never talked about this film in depth. With the movie rapidly approaching its 30th anniversary, we revisit Tyler Durden, the Narrator, and Marla Singer with fresh eyes in 2026. We all know we love the vibe, the style, and the twists—but as grown men looking back, do we actually understand the true premise and satire of Fight Club, or did we all just miss the point when we were younger? 🧼 In This Episode: The 4K Transfer Verdict: We break down the visual upgrade. How do the dark blacks, film grain, and Fincher’s meticulous color grading hold up on modern displays? The 30-Year Retrospective: How does a generation-defining film from 1999 sit in the cultural landscape of 2026? Decoding the Premise: A hilariously honest look at the themes of consumerism, toxic masculinity, and nihilism. Are we laughing with the movie, or were we the ones being targeted? The Final Score: Where does this land on our ultimate physical media wishlist now that it’s finally in our hands?
