Sports Extra | HS Football Week 7: WOS vs. Hamshire-Fannett + 3 Huge District Showdowns

It's a huge Week 7 for Southeast Texas high school football! Mike Friedman and Cam Sanderson break down their latest Top 6 rankings, recap Week 6 and preview three major district matchups on the KFDM Sports Extra podcast. West Orange-Stark vs. Hamshire-Fannett headlines the week as the undefeated, 5-0 Longhorns host the Mustangs to open district play. WOS has already faced powerhouse opponents including Carthage and Bay City, while Hamshire-Fannett enters with one of its strongest teams in years. Could this matchup help decide the district championship, or will Silsbee have something to say about it? Orangefield vs. East Chambers is another potential district championship showdown. East Chambers is undefeated and coming off an impressive district-opening victory over Buna. Cam likes the Buccaneers at home but acknowledges Orangefield has the talent to win. Newton vs. Hardin features the Eagles putting their remarkable 85-game district winning streak on the line. Newton now owns the longest active district winning streak in Texas, according to Mike and Cam. Hardin's clock-controlling offense could provide an unusual challenge. The guys also discuss: Port Arthur Memorial's 21-7 win over West Brook and whether the Titans' offense needs improvement despite their 6-0 record.Beaumont United's three-game winning streak and the Timberwolves' improving offense.Nederland's three-game winning streak and the Bulldogs' upcoming game against Galena Park.PNG vs. Texas City and the Indians' outlook in district play.Vidor's impressive win over Bridge City and what it means for the district race.West Brook vs. Baytown Sterling as the Bruins search for a district victory.Who wins the biggest Week 7 matchups? KFDM Sports Extra | Week 5: New Top 6 + WOS-Carthage State Title Rematch

Mike Friedman and Cam Sanderson break down a changing Southeast Texas high school football Top 6 and preview a loaded Week 5 on the KFDM Sports Extra podcast. East Chambers enters both rankings after improving to 4-0 while averaging nearly 34 points per game. Mike has the Buccaneers at No. 6, while Cam also puts them sixth and drops previously unbeaten Orangefield from his rankings following a close loss to LCM. Cam also moves Nederland into his Top 6 following the Bulldogs' upset victory over Fort Bend Crawford. After starting 0-2, Nederland has now produced consecutive impressive wins over Silsbee and Crawford. Cam calls the Bulldogs the area's “most improved team” from Week 1 through Week 4. Meanwhile, PNG falls out of both rankings after dropping to 1-3. Mike and Cam point to an exceptionally difficult non-district schedule and significant roster turnover but expect PNG to have an opportunity to rebound once district play begins. At the top, Port Arthur Memorial takes over Cam's No. 1 spot, joining Mike in putting the Titans first. Memorial is averaging nearly 42 points per game after dominating Galveston Ball. Week 5 features West Orange-Stark vs. Carthage in a rematch of last year's state championship game, undefeated East Chambers vs. undefeated Buna, LCM vs. Vidor, Bridge City vs. Lumberton, PNG at Santa Fe and undefeated Hamshire-Fannett at Hitchcock.
