The mystery deepens. By the fall of 1975, reports of unidentified helicopters were exploding across Colorado. Deputies chased helicopters through Pueblo County. Ranchers watched unmarked aircraft hover over cattle at night. Bright searchlights swept across remote ranches in Alamosa, Costilla, Baca, Las Animas, Weld, Washington, and El Paso Counties. Witnesses described helicopters without markings, aircraft flying without lights, impossible maneuvers, and strange machines that appeared and disappeared into the darkness. The reports coincided with one of the largest waves of cattle mutilations ever documented in the American West. In this episode we examine original reports from September through December 1975, including: • The Pueblo County helicopter pursuit involving deputies, state police, and the Pueblo Army Depot. • The Alamosa County wave investigated by Undersheriff Barney Bauer. • Multiple helicopter sightings near Fort Carson, including the October 7, 1975 UH-1H Huey crash that killed five soldiers. • Helicopters reported near missile facilities in Montana during the same period. • Ranchers, law enforcement officers, and military personnel who all reported the same disturbing pattern.
