AI - Artificial Intelligence? Or Intelligence of Another Kind?

We’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment and join the conversation. WHAT IF “ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE” ISN’T THE RIGHT WAY TO THINK ABOUT AI? This wasn’t actually supposed to be the podcast. Rich & Jess were talking before recording about AI, consciousness, neuroscience, and where all of this technology might be headed. Rich hit record…and the conversation took on a life of its own. So this week, we're taking a “break” from real estate content and a dive into “Living You with AI.” Is AI simply an incredibly powerful tool built by humans? Or are we beginning to interact with an intelligence of another kind—something fundamentally different from our own? Jess shares how her conversations with AI have changed the way she thinks about creativity, consciousness, mortality, and even how she chooses to spend her time. Rich brings his background in neuroscience into the discussion and asks what actually separates human intelligence from a system capable of processing information at a scale we can barely comprehend. And then things get deep. Fast. There are plenty of reasons to be cautious about where AI is headed. There are also possibilities that are difficult not to be excited about. We don't pretend to be AI experts. This is simply two people trying to make sense of a technology that is already changing how we work, create, think, communicate—and maybe even how we understand ourselves. This one's a little different. No market statistics. No appraisals. No listing strategy. Just Rich & Jess going down an unexpected rabbit hole about intelligence, humanity, technology, and what it might mean to Live You in a world with AI. The living you podcast is a conversation about life, real estate, and the journey of living you. Appraisal Changes! The Bad, the Fair, the Good and the Excellent!

We’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment and join the conversation. How does an appraiser actually decide what your home is worth—and what happens when you disagree with them? In this episode of the Living You Podcast, Rich & Jess dive into the world of home appraisals and the changes coming to the appraisal process beginning in November 2026. The traditional appraisal forms are getting an overhaul, with a new approach designed to better account for the things that make each property unique. And here in Upstate New York—where an 1840 farmhouse, a double-wide, a renovated contemporary, and a million-dollar property can all exist on the same road—that could matter. One of the biggest takeaways? An appraisal may be a highly informed professional opinion—but it’s still an opinion. And because this is the Living You Podcast, we naturally wander off course a few times to talk about soccer, Upstate New York in the fall, conspiracy theories, school taxes, vet bills…and whether Rich actually listens when Jess talks. 😂 🎙️ Appraisal Changes! The Bad, the Fair, the Good and the Excellent! If you’re buying, selling, refinancing, or simply curious about how the value of your property gets determined, this is a great one to catch. The living you podcast is a conversation about life, real estate, and the journey of living you. News Around Town - Real Estate Development for Business

We’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment and join the conversation. New housing, expanding businesses, more tourism—and plenty of opinions about what growth should actually look like in our small Upstate New York communities. In this episode of the Living You Podcast, Rich and Jess take a look at some of the real estate and business development happening around the area and what it could mean for the people who actually live here. We talk about the proposed expansion of the youth baseball facilities near Oneonta and the opportunities—and challenges—that come with bringing even more seasonal visitors into the area. More tourism can mean more business for restaurants, shops, rentals, and local entrepreneurs, but it also raises some important questions about housing, short-term rentals, infrastructure, traffic, and maintaining the character of our communities. Then we head over to Delhi, where a proposed 24-unit apartment development could help address a very different problem: people finding jobs locally but struggling to find somewhere to live. And because this is the Living You Podcast, we somehow also find time for BarkBox, traveling with dogs, Rich's childhood experience living in a bed & breakfast, the arrival of the “freaking baseball people,” and Jess taking a completely unsolicited shot at Pizza Hut. 😂 Growth can bring opportunity—but how do we encourage investment without losing the character of the communities people already love? The living you podcast is a conversation about life, real estate, and the journey of living you.
