DIRTY HAIR

Aryn Detres

Dirty Hair is the beauty industry podcast that refuses to hold back. We're not here for the surface-level—we’re here to cut through the noise, get under the surface, and bring you the bold, critical perspectives you won't hear anywhere else. Tired of the same old takes? Each episode is a deep dive into the topics that deserve real talk, not just hype. We’re tackling the uncomfortable and the essential. The true story behind the rise and stall of curl education. The problematic reality of the "coaching industrial complex." What it actually takes to break into the exclusive world of editorial. We’re asking the vital questions: What’s performative and what’s truly sustainable? Who holds the power and who gets to lead the conversation? And what happens to the industry when the hype finally dies down? This is for the love of the industry, but also for the critical look it deserves. If you want the 'meh' takes, you're in the wrong place. If you want a podcast that loves the beauty world enough to challenge it, subscribe to Dirty Hair now. Before the deep dives, Aryn and Christiaan kiki. In this intro episode, they talk about how they met, gay bars in WeHo, creative chemistry, and why hairdressing feels a lot like composing music. It’s a loose, honest warm-up before we get into the messy, meaningful conversations that define Dirty Hair. About Aryn Detres Aryn Detres is the co-host and executive producer/director of Dirty Hair. With more than 20 years in the industry, she has helped shape the modern indie artist movement—challenging brand dominance, centering artist ownership, and building spaces where education and culture intersect.
