Strategy Execution: What Should Be Different by Now?

Send us Fan Mail You understand the strategy, accountability. You know the language of leadership, execution, capacity, ownership, and decision-making, but here is the harder question: What should be different by now? In Episode 10 of Season Two, Marie Potempski pauses the progression of new leadership concepts to conduct an implementation audit. This episode brings together the major ideas developed throughout Season Two of The Clarity Podcast and asks whether those ideas are actually changing the way leaders operate. We revisit the progression from strategy and organizational capacity to decision rights, accountability, diagnosis, execution, standards, and the downstream consequences of leadership decisions. Because strategy is not ultimately demonstrated by what an organization intended to do. It becomes visible in what people actually do. In this episode, you'll examine: How to distinguish strategic activity from unnecessary motionWhether organizational capacity actually supports current commitmentsWhy authority, responsibility, and accountability must be properly alignedHow stronger leaders diagnose problems before reacting to themWhy repeated compensation can signal structural weaknessHow execution deteriorates between a decision and its final outcomeWhy decisions create consequences far beyond the meeting where they were madeHow to identify what belongs to you—and what does notWhat measurable leadership progress should look like after implementing the principles from Season TwoHow to choose one concrete behavioral change rather than accumulating more leadership informationThe goal is not to implement ten new ideas at once.It is to identify the gap between what you know and how you currently operate and close one part of that gap deliberately. Take one idea from this season and make it visible. Then watch what changes. When Someone Else’s Poor Decision Becomes Your Problem: Leadership, Consequences & Accountability

Send us Fan Mail Poor leadership decisions rarely affect only the person making them. They create consequences for employees, teams, and organizations—additional workload, workplace stress, uncertainty, cognitive overload, frustration, and sometimes decision fatigue. In this episode of The Clarity Podcast, Marie Potempski examines the hidden consequences of leadership decision-making and what happens when someone else’s poor decision becomes your problem. A leader avoids a difficult conversation. A manager changes direction without considering the downstream impact. A decision is rushed, delayed, poorly communicated, or never made at all. Someone else then inherits the operational and emotional consequences. This episode explores leadership accountability, the effects of poor leadership on employees, cognitive load at work, workplace stress, and the secondary decisions people are forced to make when another person’s judgment creates instability. The central distinction is simple but important: You may not be responsible for the decision that created the situation, but you are responsible for the decision you make next. For leaders, the question is no longer only, “Can I live with this decision?” It becomes: “Who else will have to live with it?” And for those carrying consequences they did not choose, the challenge is to maintain clarity, protect cognitive bandwidth, and respond with agency rather than allowing another person’s disorder to become their own. This episode introduces the idea of Transferred Decision Cost: the operational, cognitive, and emotional burden imposed on other people by a decision they did not make. If you lead people, manage teams, work under inconsistent leadership, or find yourself repeatedly cleaning up the consequences of someone else’s decisions, this episode is for you. Topics include: leadership decision making, poor leadership decisions, leadership accountability, consequences of poor leadership, cognitive overload at work, decision fatigue, workplace stress, manager decision making, employee impact, and strategic decision making.
