    October Wrap-Up: Book Reviews, New Reads & Friends to Lovers Court

    We read. We judged. We added approximately 47 more books to our TBRs. And apparently, we still haven't learned our lesson. Welcome back to Spill the Book! This week, Stace and Jace are wrapping up October with book recommendations, reading opinions, new Book of the Month picks and a courtroom battle over one of romance's most beloved tropes. First, Stace is sharing three books that deserve some attention: The Wonder of One by Suzanne Redfearn — an immediate recommendation. The Au Pair Affair by Tessa Bailey — the book that gave her THOUGHTS. Kinked by Ashe Grayson — an unexpected surprise and a dark Rapunzel reimagining. Then we're looking ahead at four new additions to the reading pile from Book of the Month: Hollywood, Ending by John Green You're the One That I Haunt by Katie Jung When the Night Comes Knocking by Katherine Daniel Reap & Sow by Charlotte B. Plumb We've got Hollywood drama, a ghost romance, Appalachian folk horror and demon bargains. A perfectly balanced reading diet. AND THEN WE GO TO COURT. This week's Trope Court puts Friends to Lovers on trial. Stace is prosecuting. Jace is defending. The charges include excessive pining, criminal levels of jealousy, unnecessary emotional suffering and two people who apparently need 400 pages to realise they're in love.     Henry Kramer: The Voice Behind Tamlin | ACOTAR, Dramatic Audio & Voice Acting

    We're spilling the book with Henry Kramer! You might recognize his voice as Tamlin in the Dramatic Audio adaptation of Sarah J. Maas's A Court of Thorns and Roses, but there's a lot more to this voice actor than one very controversial fictional High Lord. We chat with Henry about life as a voice actor, transitioning from the stage to the microphone, the art of bringing fictional characters to life and what goes into performing Dramatic Audio. Then things get a little less professional. We put Henry to the test with our Spill the Line game and hand him some original scripts written by Jace.     Spooky season is here, the TBR is out of control, and apparently we thought the best solution was to invent an entire horror novel ourselves. Welcome back to Stace & Jace Spill the Book, where we spill the tea on books, questionable reading decisions, and whatever literary nonsense happens when two book lovers get together. In this spooky episode, we're talking about our most anticipated upcoming books for October, November, and December 2026. We're looking at witches, haunted houses, dark fantasy, magical creatures, mysterious family secrets, and romances that could go spectacularly wrong. Books on our spooky season radar: THE WITCH by Freida McFadden — A creepy seventeenth-century family estate, a clock that stops at 3:41 a.m., mysterious voices, and a possible connection to the Salem witch trials. What could possibly go wrong? DEFY THE DUSK by Danielle L. Jensen — A post-apocalyptic fantasy filled with dangerous magic, nocturnal monsters, political intrigue, enemies-to-lovers tension, and a feral king who might be more trouble than he's worth. MY UNFAMILIAR by Mara Rutherford — A grumpy mage, a magical matchmaking mishap, a mysterious familiar bond, and a cozy fantasy romance that might just get wonderfully chaotic. But that's not all. We're also building our own spooky novel from scratch. There's a ghost named Elias, a creepy Victorian house, photographs that shouldn't exist, a suspicious basement, and secrets that keep getting worse. We take turns adding to the story, and once something becomes canon, neither of us can take it back. Will we create a genuinely terrifying thriller, a twisted supernatural mystery, or the most unhinged book never to see a publishing contract? You decide.
