    Three US riders sat down with us in northwestern Spain in the days before the 2026 Trial des Nations: a Trial 2 rookie, a six-time TdN veteran, and a first-timer on the challenge team. Host Abigail Buzzelli talks with each of them about their season and what it takes to ride for Team USA. Ryon Land talks about his first season in Trial 2 after winning the Trial 3 title. He covers the injury that set back the start of his year, the mental training at Adam Raga’s school that turned things around, why he thinks every rider should start on a 125, and his goals for next season. Alex Myers is back for his sixth TdN as the only returning member of last year’s winning men’s team. He shares stories from past TdNs, his move to TRS, what it’s like riding at six foot three, and advice for riders hoping to make the team. He also has a hot take on the national format, a preview of his upcoming episode with Steph. Max Glueck is in Europe for the first time and riding a 125 on the challenge team at his first TdN.     8. Tobin Miller | Three Years to Romaniacs Gold

    From growing up racing harescrambles in Iowa to becoming one of only 10 Americans to finish the Gold class at Red Bull Romaniacs, Tobin Miller’s path through hard enduro has been built around steady progression, calculated goals, and a constant search for ways to improve. In Episode 8 of the On the Pegs Podcast, Steph Vetterly sits down with the Champion Brick Racing rider to look beyond his 2026 Red Bull Romaniacs finish and explore how much has changed since their first interview in 2023. Tobin grew up racing in the Iowa Enduro Riders Association, working his way through the youth classes and eventually into AA before shifting his focus toward hard enduro. By 2023, he was racing an old 2001 Honda CR250 and trying to establish himself in the Pro ranks. Shortly after joining Champion Brick Racing, Tobin told Steph that he planned to give himself until age 25 to put everything he had into racing and find out whether he could turn it into a career. Three years later, the now 24-year-old has become a top-10 rider in the U.S. Hard Enduro Premier Championship and has added one of the sport’s toughest accomplishments to his résumé. After finishing fourth in the Silver class at Red Bull Romaniacs in 2025, Tobin returned to Romania in 2026 and stepped into Gold. More than 35 hours of racing later, he reached the finish and joined a very small group of American riders who have completed the class. But this conversation isn’t a day-by-day recap of Romaniacs. Instead, Tobin and Steph look at what it took to become the rider capable of finishing Gold. Tobin talks about identifying weaknesses in his riding, deliberately practicing specific techniques until they became instinctive, and learning when outright aggression helps — and when the smartest decision is to take the safer line and protect the bigger picture. He explains how his approach to racing has evolved from the 21-year-old who admitted he would attack the biggest lines early in a race to a rider who entered Romaniacs focused on conserving energy, limiting mistakes, and finishing four incredibly long days in the Carpathian Mountains. Tobin also discusses the enormous amount of support required to make a trip like Romaniacs possible, including the role of Matt Adams and Champion Brick Racing, his sponsors, family, friends, and the people who helped him arrive in Romania early enough to train before the race. The conversation also dives into a side of professional racing that fans rarely see: sponsorship relationships, communicating value back to the companies supporting a race program, and why Tobin now believes being a successful racer can require being just as good at business and sales as riding a motorcycle. Finally, Steph revisits the deadline Tobin set for himself three years ago. With age 25 approaching, has the plan changed — and after proving he can finish Gold at Romaniacs, how far does he believe he can take his racing career?     7. Jared Spencer | How Kairos Became an Off-Road Destination

    Kairos Wilderness Resort has become one of the most recognizable off-road destinations on the East Coast, but dirt bikes were never part of the original plan. Host Steph Vetterly sits down with Kairos co-owner Jared Spencer ahead of the 2026 River Monster Hard Enduro to talk about how more than 1,500 acres of West Virginia and Virginia terrain evolved into a destination for hard enduro, trials, hare scrambles, dual-sport riding, and everything in between.     4. Curt Comer & David Pyle | The First Trial des Nations

    In 1984, the very first Trial des Nations took place in Soviet-controlled Poland — and David Pyle, Curt Comer, and Morgan Kavanaugh made up the U.S. team. More than four decades later, David and Curt sat down together for the first time to talk about that historic week. Recorded at the AMA Hall of Fame in Pickerington, Ohio during Ryan Young's induction weekend, this episode dives into what it actually took to get there: disassembling trials bikes into airline luggage, packing your own pre-mix and tools, navigating customs with a fiberglass gas tank as your carry-on, and being assigned a Polish national escort the moment you cleared the airport. David and Curt share stories of staying with local families, trading every sticker and t-shirt for handmade leather goods, dodging the propaganda on state radio, and the gas-rationed, mud-soaked, eighteen-section trial itself.
