Are these transcriptions/translations fully accurate? Is this the best way to learn a new language? Are these files flawless and without errors? The answer to all these questions is, resoundingly, NO. I am just doing this for fun.

Why Is the Stock-Options Pie Getting Harder to Swallow?

English: Why Is the Stock-Options Pie Getting Harder to Swallow? English: Once, stock options were one of the most compelling narratives in internet companies: the company was still small, cash was limited, but the future was vast; you'd tough it out together for a few years, and when the company went public, got acquired, or its valuation skyrocketed, today's "paper equity" could become tomorrow's real money. It was like a ticket to the future, and also a mutual expression of trust between startups and their employees. But the problem is, many people later discovered that what they received wasn't a ticket, but a pie whose interpretation rights belonged entirely to the company. In this episode, we start with a recent controversial stock option dispute at an internet company: why can employees who were clearly granted options have the company say "it doesn't count" for various reasons before and after going public? Why can what seems like an individual labor dispute unravel into complex relationships between VIE structures, listing entities, domestic employment contracts, and overseas holding companies? Why do regulators, courts, investors, and employees all ultimately face the same question: does this company actually stand by the pie it drew? In the show, we also break down what "stock options" really are. They're not stocks, not bonuses, and certainly not free money. Stock options are essentially a future right of choice: the company promises that after a certain time, you can purchase a certain number of shares or equity at an agreed price. For them to be truly valuable, several conditions must be met simultaneously: the company must be doing well, ideally going public or being acquired; the market must be willing to assign a high valuation; the contract and system must be recognized; and most importantly, the company can't flip the table when the pie is almost ready. From early Silicon Valley stock option incentives to Chinese internet companies going overseas through VIE structures; from the differences between options, RSUs, and restricted stock, to the pitfalls hidden in exercise, vesting, option pools, and buyback clauses; from "golden handcuffs" to "empty promises," this episode attempts to answer a more practical question: when economic growth, IPO windows, and corporate credit are no longer as stable as they once were, do stock options still deserve an important place in your compensation package? AI Beyond IQ: What WAIC and Kimi K3 Reveal About the New Competition

English: AI Beyond IQ: What WAIC and Kimi K3 Reveal About the New Competition Original episode description: Chinese: English: At the time this episode was recorded, media reports had not yet published Liang Wenfeng's internal remarks. Some of this episode's views happen to overlap with those remarks; this is purely coincidental and does not involve plagiarism or unattributed quotation. This year's WAIC still looked bustling: major-company booths, computing clusters, robot demonstrations, and a hall full of AI applications and agents. But beneath the excitement over “bigger parameters,” “stronger capabilities,” and “cooler demos,” the questions that matter are simpler: Can AI actually do useful work? Can it do that work reliably and cheaply? And who is willing to pay for it? Starting from a remote look at the exhibition, we revisit what this year's WAIC revealed about the industry. Large models are moving beyond a contest over intelligence, benchmarks, and launches into a more difficult and practical competitive phase. The real questions are increasingly which models are good enough, stable, affordable, and deliverable. We discuss why the robotics area still resembles a performance stage, how far embodied intelligence remains from entering homes and industry, and why lower barriers to building AI applications have not removed the real business moats. AI can help write prototypes, code, and plans, but it cannot supply industry know-how, find customers, or explain why anyone should buy a product. Kimi K3 provides another angle. We discuss the experience of using K3 to build an agent: it is imperfect, slow, token-hungry, and not necessarily better than the leading overseas models in every area. Yet it is already good and usable enough, while its cost, deployment options, open weights, and model choice push the logic of competition forward. For many real businesses, being state of the art matters less than completing 80% of the work at an acceptable price with reliable service. The episode's central argument is that future AI competition will concern not only model intelligence, but also engineering optimization, cost structure, routing systems, ecosystem choices, and implementation. Top models may increasingly resemble industrial “mother machines” used to write code, make tools, and solve the hardest problems, while products serving actual users rely on combinations of smaller, cheaper, faster, task-specific models. About

This is a podcast feed, where, to help me learn Chinese, I've used AI to transcribe episodes of Chinese podcasts, split them into clips, translate them to English, read the script using TTS models, and edit the translated clips into the original podcast. Are these transcriptions/translations fully accurate? Is this the best way to learn a new language? Are these files flawless and without errors? The answer to all these questions is, resoundingly, NO. I am just doing this for fun.
