In this episode of the Impact Recovery Podcast, host Sarah Pritchard sits down with Bryan Stickney, owner of Buckhead Therapy Solutions, to discuss his personal journey through addiction, recovery, and how those experiences shaped his career as a therapist helping others find lasting freedom.  Bryan shares how growing up in a loving, supportive home didn't prevent addiction from taking hold, how alcohol and Xanax gradually became a way to cope with anxiety, and why outward success often hides an internal struggle. Together, Sarah and Bryan explore the progression of addiction, the misconception that someone must "hit rock bottom," and the pivotal moments that finally led Brian to surrender and seek lasting recovery.  The conversation also dives into the role of therapy alongside 12-step recovery, why accountability and community are essential for long-term sobriety, and how families can support a loved one without enabling destructive behaviors. Bryan offers practical insight from both his lived experience and his clinical work, discussing co-occurring mental health conditions, high-functioning addiction, gambling, substance use among teens, and the hope that recovery offers for individuals and families alike.  Whether you're navigating your own recovery, supporting someone you love, or simply trying to better understand addiction, this conversation is a powerful reminder that healing is possible and that asking for help can change everything. The Freedom of Amends: Why Recovery Stalls Without Step Nine

In this episode of the Impact Recovery Podcast, host Sarah Pritchard sits down with Impact Recovery team members Jacob Swartz and Tanner Godsey for an honest conversation about one of the most challenging and transformative parts of recovery: making amends.  Together, they share personal experiences of facing the fear, shame, and uncertainty that come with Step Nine and explain why amends are far more than simply saying "I'm sorry." Jacob and Tanner discuss the spiritual preparation required before making amends, the freedom that comes from taking responsibility for past harms, and why so many people struggle to move forward in recovery when they avoid this crucial step.  The conversation explores how unresolved guilt, fear, and self-centeredness can keep people stuck, while genuine amends create healing not only for the person in recovery but often for the people they have harmed. Through powerful stories of reconciliation, restored relationships, and unexpected moments of grace, Jacob and Tanner reveal how the amends process became a turning point in their own sobriety journeys.  Whether you're in recovery yourself, supporting a loved one, or simply interested in understanding the deeper work that lasting recovery requires, this episode offers valuable insight into why freedom is often found on the other side of difficult conversations. Step 3: Letting Go of Control and Finding Peace in Recovery

For this episode of the Impact Recovery Podcast, host Sarah Pritchard welcomes Kathleen Saucier back for Part 3 of the family recovery mini-series as they explore the powerful lessons found in Step Three: "Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him." Kathleen breaks down what it truly means to surrender control, explaining how our "will" represents our thoughts and our "lives" represent our actions. Together, Sarah and Kathleen discuss why families affected by addiction often struggle with the desire to fix, manage, or control their loved one's recovery and how Step Three invites us to release that burden. Throughout the conversation, they explore the difference between making a decision and taking action, the importance of staying present instead of living in fear of the future, and how faith, mindfulness, prayer, and meditation can help families find peace amid uncertainty. Kathleen also shares personal experiences, powerful moments of surrender, and practical tools like the Sick Man's Prayer to help family members respond with compassion rather than anger. Whether your loved one is actively struggling with addiction, in recovery, or you're navigating your own healing journey, this episode offers valuable insight into finding freedom, acceptance, and hope by letting go of what was never ours to control. From Addiction to 10 Years Sober: Molly’s Story of Recovery

In this episode of the Impact Recovery Podcast, host Sarah Pritchard sits down with Molly Millard, Director of Office Investment Sales at Cushman & Wakefield, for an honest conversation about addiction, sobriety, and the path to lasting recovery. Molly shares her story growing up in Northern Virginia, navigating the loss of her mother at a young age, and building what looked like a successful life from the outside. A talented athlete, singer, and performer who eventually moved to New York City to pursue acting, Molly describes how alcohol slowly shifted from something social into something she could no longer control. What followed was a difficult season of isolation, daily drinking, and losing meaningful relationships. After a pivotal moment that led her into inpatient treatment in 2016, Molly began rebuilding her life through recovery, the 12 steps, and a supportive community. Now celebrating 10 years of sobriety, Molly reflects on the power of surrender, the importance of mentorship and fellowship, and how recovery transformed every area of her life. Today, she has built a successful career in commercial real estate as a Director at Cushman & Wakefield, while continuing to stay active in the recovery community and help others find the same freedom she found. Together, Sarah and Molly also discuss common misconceptions about alcoholism, the fear many people have about getting sober, and why helping others is such an important part of lasting recovery.
